I noticed the GOP are determined to set a new low in credibility by their poorly hidden commitment to impeaching Hillary Clinton, seeing as she is not even sworn in as president yet. But we continue to pay them quite a lovable salary, why? For what?
Morning everyone. Must run, but wanted to stop in and send you all hugs and prayers that all of us at TOD, and our loved ones, and our dear President and VP and their families, remain safe throughout the day. My emotions and my heart are on overload right now. Peace be with all of you. {{{TOD}}}
Back at you cd4biden! So thankful for this place we are able to come and give love and receive it at this time. So much more so now that we have met and given each other hugs. ((((TOD))))
In an emotional press conference on Friday, members of Congress’ Congressional Black Caucus talked about the need for action following the police shootings this week of two African-American young men in Baton Rouge and Falcon Heights, as well as the shooting of a dozen police officers Thursday night in Dallas. The lawmakers vowed to continue pushing for votes on gun control legislation, and slammed Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan for blocking the debate on several bills.
Some lawmakers also aimed sharp criticism as the National Rifle Association, the nation’s premiere pro-gun lobby group, for issuing a formal statement of condolence for the Dallas police officers killed this week but not for the two black gun owners killed by police in Minnesota and Louisiana.
Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA), himself a gun owner, gave a passionate speech accusing the NRA of not carrying about the welfare of black people.
“The hypocrisy there is so blatant,” he said. “I always thought the NRA was not concerned about me. And I hunt and I fish and I own a gun. But the last few days have clarified it for me — that their Second Amendment concern is not a voice of concern for African Americans. And I just believe that we cannot give them a pass on not making a comment.”
Thanks for sharing this; I missed the live statement earlier.
Trying hard to remember that most people in our country are good people who would not hurt anyone and that not everyone is filled with hate and racial animus. I look at my own multi-racial family; I think about occasions like the conversation I just had with friends (white) who have invited me to go boating with them after they return from a mission trip in Lima, Peru; I think about all of the students that I taught over a 30 year period, who years later, come up to me in public places for hugs and to tell me how much I meant to them; and I think of all of the everyday kindnesses and courtesy that I have received from people of all ages and ethnicities, then I am reminded that much has changed even as so much has remained the same. I remember to be hopeful and to keep moving forward with faith and action to help make are union more perfect.
Pf, I love this woman so much and I hope she continues as AG under Clinton or is nominated to the Supreme Court. Her intelligence, her presence and her voice are so vital to this country.
Obama’s placid vision is obviously not a panacea. There are murderers, racists, and hysterics afoot who will not calmly gather around the table for a data-based discussion of reforms. There is an element of struggle to his vision — a contest to maintain calm, to impose order over chaos and reason over passion. The dissidents to Obama’s vision, by necessity and by definition, are loud and conspicuous. They capture our attention. But they are not the majority, and they are not bound to prevail.
I beg to differ with this statement. They are not worried about “their rights” but instead worried about the truth that might be uncovered by these investigations. The guise of “rights” is what allows this death to continue. They do not want to know the truth and they do not want US to know either. The gig would be up…and those that profit off this would wither and die.
We not even allowed to study 32,000 gun deaths a year because you're too worried about your rights. https://t.co/cLQNM5Klx9
Let’s focus on the WINNERS, everyone, and those who make $$$$ by enabling the #WINNERS to keep winning irrespective of how many of our fellow citizens are slaughtered in the process ….
BBL….WAITING ON X-RAY RESULTS..TOLD THE GIRLS IN RECEPTION..I’M AN ACTIVIST..SUFFERING FROM FOOT IN MOUTH DISEASE!..LOL………………THEY KNOW ME..:)))))))))))))))))))))))))))
There are multiple reasons why. The first — and you’ll forgive me for sounding divisive and partisan at a time like this — is that his opponents have guaranteed that he would never be able to unite Americans about anything. A healthy chunk of the country, spurred on by their political leaders and media figures, has spent the last eight years becoming convinced that nothing Obama does, no matter the situation or the issue, is ever for admirable or even mundane reasons. Those politicians and media commentators have told their constituents, thousands upon thousands of times, that Obama is not merely wrong or misguided but is literally trying to destroy America. So for them to turn around now and say, “Why won’t Obama bring us together?” takes a truly superhuman level of gall.
The M18A1 Claymore is a directional anti-personnel mine used by the United States Armed Forces. Its inventor, Norman MacLeod, named the mine after a large Scottish medieval sword. Unlike a conventional land mine, the Claymore is command-detonated and directional, meaning it is fired by remote-control and shoots a pattern of metal balls into the kill zone like a shotgun.
The Claymore fires steel balls, out to about 100 m (110 yd) within a 60° arc in front of the device. It is used primarily in ambushes and as an anti-infiltration device against enemy infantry. It is also used against unarmored vehicles.

Congrats to all the Gold ⭐ winners since Wednesday Evening.
It's been a tough day in MN. I hope that MN gets it right and Not let the Despicable deadly shootings in Dallas, TX derail our resolve.
Mike Rawlings, the mayor is a good man. I knew his mother well. He has inner integrity and high morals. I believe he should be the next governor of Texas. Good for him saying this out loud on a tough day. He knows that once again Dallas is in the crosshairs, and that the open carry law is a disgrace.
The danger here is that the shooting last night will work to reverse the kinds of gains Chief Brown has made with the Dallas PD. In his remarks this morning, he indicated that he’s not going to let that happen.
“Police officers are guardians of this great democracy, the freedom to protest, the freedom of speech, the freedom of expression, all freedoms
we fight for with our lives, it’s what makes us who we are as Americans. So we risk our lives for those rights, so we won’t militarize our
policing standards, but we will do it in a much safer way every time.
We are not going to let a coward who would ambush police officers change our democracy. We’re not going to do it. Our city, our country is
better than that.”
Rather than view all police as villains, those of us interested in reform need to have Chief Brown’s back right now. He is going to come under fire from some powerful forces.

An extra bit of info re Dallas Police Chief Brown from Smartypants:-
* One thing I [Smartypants] didn’t focus on earlier when talking about the reforms Chief David Brown brought to the Dallas PD is his focus on transparency. Take a look at this article he wrote back in 2014 about how that played out after a white officer shot a black man in Dallas.
“We try our best to be transparent — and I can tell you that not all cops like it. It does open us up to criticism, threats and exposure of every mistake we make. But it’s the right thing to do.
In the Dixon Circle shooting, I supported the officer’s actions, given the facts and evidence. A grand jury later cleared the officer.
That day I was heralded by police union bosses. A year later, I terminated two of our officers in separate shootings; a grand jury indicted both of them. Of course, I wasn’t as popular internally that time.
We have had subsequent shootings involving police, and we have continued to share as much information with the public as we can without jeopardizing the investigative process.”
The mayor said there were so many men running around armed with ammo in fatigues they thought they all might be shooters. Turned out they were able to localize the shooter to one parking garage.
Bob – I don’t like to get too carried away hoping one night might “turn the tide,” although it has in the past. But do you think this shooting of police in Dallas might, in a productive way? I could think of some scenarios.
❤️
Attorney General Loretta Lynch gave a beautiful and measured statement to the nation.
She is truly remarkable.
SHE IS A WOMAN FILLED WITH INTEGRITY AND SHOULD CERTAINLY BE ADMIRED FOR HER DEDICATION TO JUSTICE..PBO KNOWS HOW TO PICK EM!

BRAVO.

Pleased at this sanity !!
It’s amazing how some think. I don’t know about this article. Seriously, a Traditional African shirt makes one militant?
the demonizing of Micah Johnson…no mention of Mental Illness

Just one guy did all these? It smells.
I agree AMK…..something doesn’t fit…..and, why do they always kill the alleged shooter; would it not be best to shoot him in the knee cap?
THERE YOU GO,I SEE HE S CUTTING HIS TRIP SHORT AND GOING TO DALLAS..GOD BLESS HIM..THAT’S THE WAY HE IS………………….

Oh my. Now you know why I didn’t watch much news coverage today.
Sure the police lives matter, no one said that they didn’t. We just want police to act like black folks our lives matter too.
ALERT:
Yes. He’s needed everywhere, but maybe in Dallas the most. Maybe Dallas will set the tone. We keep hoping!
I honestly don’t know how he finds the physical and emotional stamina. So many days spent consoling grief-stricken mothers, fathers, children.
This is what the President sees…
Oh you are so right. Got a chill when I read what you wrote, pf!

XOXO. This is a very long and sometimes treacherous road but we are stronger together.
More protests tonight in Philly, Atlanta … and probably other large cities.
