I cannot bear the thought of not having President Obama as our moral compass after this year. The country and the world will not be the same without him.

{{{ ouapiti }}} I know, me too, but remember he has told is he’s not going anywhere, he will be Citizen Obama, and he will continue to be a force for good all over the world! I’m thinking there is not a single country anywhere which wouldn’t welcome the Obamas! But they love this country, so we are blessed! ❤ Keep you the Heart, TOD, there is much work to do, we must not allow anticipatory grief to slow us down!

I believe something like 85%-90% of cops are decent and dedicated and perform a difficult, important and dangerous job well. Americans are appreciative and grateful of them. But that leaves 10%-15% that are bullies and cowboys, many are racists. Many are young and were immersed while growing up in violent movies and video games. THAT’S NOT AN EXCUSE, just part of the backdrop of these losers that have power they should never have. THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN THE JOB. Video after video reflects that these unhinged cops are TERRIFIED in the job, especially with African-American men. Of course being a cop is inherently dangerous and they must be alert and clear-eyed to the dangers they have accepted. But they must be calm, focused and highly trained. We see hysterical, repetitive screaming and fear from these cops in these videos. Of course the job has a scary aspect. But if an individual is THAT TERRIFIED in THAT job, they need to find different profession.

People world over don’t appreciate cops, they fear them. It is adversarial by design. I don’t believe in benign cops bs.

Barack Obama still liked around the world, survey suggests.

Global support for US President Barack Obama appears to have lasted through his two terms in office, a survey of 18,000 people for the BBC suggests.

More than 70% of people in 18 countries polled by Globescan think that his election was a good thing.

Of the 19 countries surveyed, only the Russians had a negative view of him, with an approval rating of 18%.

Countries with strong pro-Obama sentiments included Kenya, South Korea, the UK, France and Australia.

The poll also asked whether the election of a female American president would change people’s view of the US.

Nearly half said yes, but they did not specify whether this was negative or positive.

More than 18,000 people worldwide were surveyed between December 2015 and May 2016.

Last week, a global poll by Pew Research also indicated high approval ratings for Barack Obama around the world.

I look at that first picture of POTUS and I am more convince. No 4 more years. POTUS need time to just relax and be with his family without all this added on pressure.

Doris Kearns Goodwin, Presidential Historian speaks frequently about how stressful the job of the presidency is and of the importance of a way to deescalate the stress level. Indeed the two term limit is a necessity for the health of the person willing to take on this tremendous responsibility. She has mentioned the advanced speed of the aging process for these job holders. We will all miss the Obamas, but will appreciate their service to us and their continued volunteerism.

So I offer this link on self-care from Colorlines.com titled “4 Self-Care Resources for Days When the World is Terrible”. We must remember to heal our wounds in order to fight on.

When our elected officials treat the 2nd amendment as the most important part of government, nobody should be shocked that both the public and police resort to it to solve all problems.

This sniper action in Dallas further complicates the injustice of the problem. Just as public sympathy that could help promote change is evident in yesterday’s murders the snipers’ actions will cement some attitudes in the opposite direction splitting the influence and causing alienation of public opinion. I hope this does not influence some people to go into the Donald Trump camp due to his toughness on terrorists talk.

My family and I just got back from a cruise this morning, we took a five day cruise to Cozumel and Progreso. This time yesterday we were playing bingo with other cruise-goers. Life has a way of interrupting life.

    ACCOUNTABILITY.

The police forces, police unions, and prosecutorial systems/juries REFUSE to hold these individual offenders accountable.

Police keep committing heinous unjustified killing after heinous unjustified killing of black people, and the law enforcement system does everything possible to exonerate the offenders or ignore their actions.

Do they really think people will just sit and take it? They plant ugly seeds of civil unrest and don’t think of the consequences.

Holding the individual offenders accountable will start to ease tension. Arrogantly and defiantly ignoring murder after murder will not end well.

Lawrence, don’t be an asshole, a person of interest is a suspect. Police might say he’s a person of interest, but they consider him a suspect.

  27. 61 Dudette
    July 8, 2016 at 12:31 am

Media has been circulating photo of a guy as a supposed “person of interest” for like an hour. Black guy walking around with an assault rifle on his shoulder.

I’m so glad my skepticism kept me from retweeting that photo as video has now surfaced showing him milling around confused along with the rest of the crowd.

In fact he turned in the gun to police when the shooting took place. That poor guy could’ve been killed.

I hope you’re right about the attitudes already cemented. I know a lot were. I am just a worry wart hoping some situation like the hostage situation during Carter’s run for his second term does not happen changing the outcome of the race. People are so easily manipulated by fear.

      GE OG.

The last few days have truly been horrific, and this month will be a living hell.

Trump blasts NATO, PBO is at NATO, (at least) one former Congressmen is threatening the fabric of our society, Trump will stir up more righteous anger from the a**holes who believe that bullying, ignorance and guns are the answer, and both Dem and GOP conventions are this month.

Lots of people are comparing this to 1968, but aside from the horrific Vietnam War (which I was adamantly against), it seems worse now. More people, more rudeness, more guns, more lying by right-wing media while MSM treat this election as entertainment and a joke.

I pray to the Heavens above that you’re wrong. Trump would be worse than when Palin was potentially a heartbeat away from the Presidency. He’s certifiably crazy, cares ONLY about himself and has zero impulse control.

The hostage situation was a significant factor in Carter’s defeat — young’uns don’t remember, but we were bombarded with images of those blindfolded hostages every. single. day. But inflation was truly awful — young’uns don’t remember double-digit inflation (had friends back then who took out reverse amortized mortgages [meaning their balance *increased* every month] because mortgage rates were 21% APR) and the 1979 gas crisis, while not as bad as 1973 was still fresh in voters minds.

The country and this world cannot afford a Trump presidency…

Idiots like these right wing folks don’t get it, we have compassion, hurt, and yes anger when blacks are kill by police, and when police are kill by anyone. Right wingers only care about the officers being kill. I still believe if black cops were shooting down white folks these right wing haters would be having a dam fit.

Watch the right wing haters start talking how it’s President fault, it’s the people fault who was protesting, it’s the people fault who is against police officers. Stupid hateful people like that don’t understand no one is against police officers. If anything blacks feel let down by them. We know they have a tough job, we know that their are alot of good officers, we are just tired of seeing any interaction black folks have with officers end up with blacks folks dead. I am 100% sorry for the eleven officers shot, and six of them dead. But I also am sorry for that young man in Minnesota and Louisiana who were shot dead. And all the others.
