“Welcome to Jupiter!” came the announcement from mission control just before midnight eastern time.After a 35-minute engine burn, NASA’s Juno spacecraft has ceased orbiting the sun and is now in orbit around giant Jupiter. It was a do-or-die maneuver that saw the spacecraft sailing through lethal radiation belts and dodging dust slung into space by the planet’s intense gravity. From here, the spacecraft will begin to peer beneath Jupiter’s clouds and study its mysteries. “There’s a great feeling of relief in addition to that joy,” Michael Watkins, director of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, said shortly after the announcement. “In some sense it’s the end of the voyage, but it’s the beginning of the science.” That voyage took five years and covered 1.7 billion miles (2.7 billion kilometers). But the hardest part came at the journey’s end, when the spinning spacecraft’s engines needed to burn with laser-like precision to help slow Juno down so that it could in order to become Jupiter’s newest—albeit temporary—satellite.
The engine burn lasted for 2,102 seconds, just one second off from pre-burn predictions (take note, airlines). As Juno neared Jupiter, the spinning spacecraft started cartwheeling five times per minute, which helped stabilize it during orbit insertion. Then it turned away from the sun and put on the brakes. After pulling into orbit, Juno slowed its spinning and turned back toward the sun to once again charge its batteries. Over the next weeks, the team will refine the spacecraft’s orbit and turn on its instruments. “I‘m just so curious about the discoveries we can make, and learning about our beginnings, and what can Jupiter tell us about how the solar system was made,” says mission principal investigator Scott Bolton of the Southwest Research Institute….continued”

I love, love, love looking at these photos and seeing the diversity of people in the crowds at this speech. So sick of all the white, old, mostly male dudes at the speeches for the other candidates. This crowd is what America looks like. That’s how you know she will be a good president. Because she cares for all of America, and all aspects of America care for her.

Cunningham’s son Randall II is a high jumper for USC. He is a NCAA Outdoor Track Champion and 2-time All-American. Cunningham’s daughter Vashti took the family’s high jump achievements to another level.
At 18 years old, Vashti Cunningham became the youngest athlete since 1980 to make the United States Olympic track and field team for the Olympics. She cleared 1.97 meters in the finals as the second-place qualifier.
“I’m very appreciative, just to be able to go to the Olympics this year,” Cunningham said, per USA Today. “So I’m more thankful than disappointed. It was a relief to qualify and just know that I was top three. At the same time, I still wanted to win. I always want to win.”
Maybe he is going to endorse her HRC, which would be the smartest and correct thing to do. He might be afraid of the berniebros…after all the revolution-stuff he spoon-fed them.

I am so sick of this man. I think he got addicted to those rallies, and he can’t let go. I hope tI am wrong and this will be a rally to unite the party and endorse.
Maybe I’m just too cynical about Bernie but he’s shown no evidence of doing the right thing. Even though he says he’ll do everything in his power to defeat Trump, that’s not what he’s doing at all. He refuses to endorse her, he criticizes the DNC constantly, takes jabs at PBO on the regular, so……….I pretty much think this rally will be all about Bernie and his brilliant ideas, an anti-DNC rally to stir things up and get more attention. I wonder if he’ll endorse her even after she has the official nomination. I’m not so sure he has it in him. There will always be some issue for him that prevents him from full support. He’s completely out for himself and doesn’t much care about Democrats at all.

I think it was vc who was concerned with HRC nodding her head when POTUS was speaking but I didn’t mind it at all. She was doing the head nod of a person who spends a lot of time in black churches. It shows that connection to the speaker and that she is relating to what is being said.
I actually think having others with her at the rallies is a draw for her. It helps draw in a crowd. Remember Obama’s crowds were much bigger than Hillary’s in ’08? McCain did town halls instead of rallies till he got Palin to pack in the people. Some speakers just do not bring the excitement. Hillary is lucky to have Obama helping her and he would be better off having her following him into office over getting Trump.

But lawmakers on Capitol Hill—provoked or perhaps inspired by a steady stream of contractor donations and unusually determined Navy lobbying—are now on the verge of ordering the Pentagon to build more than Carter wanted.
A defense appropriations bill moving toward Senate approval in coming days or weeks directs that $475 million be spent by the Navy to procure an extra Littoral Combat Ship next year. The House of Representatives has already passed legislation ordering that $384 million be spent on the extra ship. So it’s virtually certain to happen, a prospect that cheers the Navy greatly but has evoked dismay among the ships’ many critics.

After I watched it I felt relaxed and serene and chilled like I haven’t felt in months. During the speeches (probably when PBO was talking) I was overcome with the feeling that everything is gonna be alright.
I agree with you. I loved what Hillary said about President Obama and I felt her sincerity and it made me very happy. I also appreciated how unstinting President Obama’s praise for Hillary was…Everything really will be alright.

Personally, I think the DNC is crazy if they grant this request,. If he wants to do it on his own at some venue, be my guest but given his non-stop bashing of the DNC, Clinton, and PBO this would be insane to give him a forum that is endorsed by the DNC.

Personally, I think the DNC is crazy if they grant this request,. If he wants to do it on his own at some venue, be my guest but given his non-stop bashing of the DNC, Clinton, and PBO this would be insane to give him a forum that is endorsed by the DNC.

Seeing PBO out there campaigning again just makes my heart sing!
I’ve been listening to this wonderful album, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds’ Return of the Tender Lover,” quite a lot lately and this song in particular. It makes me think of my family, of our beautiful First Family, and the community of love that surrounds PBO wherever he goes. Plus it just makes me wanna dance! Great way to start a new day!
