Our elections have been closer than expected but the RW seems to be winning. My state does not help – sometimes it’s like living in Texas. A bigoted anti immigrant perpetual candidate seems to be doing well. All candidates get government funding – this one seems to use it as her only source of income – except this time she might get a seat in the senate – sigh.

It seems in Australia each state votes the opposite of their current state government in the Federal elections.

there are not many accolades that i can express about our Beloved President that hasn’t be stated already….but this article showed how much they are well deserved…i ventured over to the comments…yeahhhh i know. 🙂 ..but i was pleasantly surprised by what i found….i liked many of them…but this one in particular gave me real satisfaction…

Such a moving and inspiring read. And there’s a little bit of humor as well! 🙂

// “There is time, too, for fantasy about what life would be like outside the White House. Mr. Emanuel, who is now the mayor of Chicago but remains close to the president, said he and Mr. Obama once imagined moving to Hawaii to open a T-shirt shack that sold only one size (medium) and one color (white). Their dream was that they would no longer have to make decisions.” //

GM. There was a nice graphic posted here showing critical differences between Bernie’s positions and G. Johnson. Can anyone please post that again or a link to it? I’m seeing tons of outreach from the Johnson people to the sandernistas. I don’t like it. Thanks!

Hi Japa. The to do lists never end. Today I stained my deck–still have one third to go and yesterday I weeded and mulched. It’s physically exhausting to retire. I still remember fondly the days when I had a staff to do mundane things and I dreamed of retirement. Ha! Now I know why people say, “Be careful what you wish for.”

    • 52 jacquelineoboomer
      July 2, 2016 at 11:28 am

Truthfully, why not? If President Obama’s theme was Hope and Change (which worked out beautifully for sane, normal people), Hillary’s could then be Love and Kindness. It not only compares favorably with what Trumpster offers, but it’s a great follow-on to everything President Obama stands for, in my opinion. And it’s a necessary worldwide theme.

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/states-easing-requirements-for-military-wives?utm_content=buffer80e94&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

WASHINGTON (AP) — A White House campaign to help military families has hit a new milestone: All 50 states have eased the requirements for military spouses whose careers require a professional license.

Michelle Obama said just three states accepted licenses from other states when she and Vice President Joe Biden’s wife, Jill, launched a broader initiative in 2011 to help military families.

Military spouses seek new employment every one to three years, on average, and more often than civilians, based on when their enlisted husbands or wives are deployed to new posts in a new state, the White House said Saturday in a fact sheet. About one-third of military spouses have careers that require a professional license, such as nursing or teaching.

O/T – Speaking of my five-year-old great grandson (and thanks for asking – Ha!) … his Mommy just told me they were talking about his first day at Kindergarten, coming up in August. She asked if he wanted her to pack his lunch for the first day. He said, “No, Mom, well I don’t know maybe.” She said, “I can give you whatever you want.” He said, “Can you dress up like a little kid and come to school with me?”

After I told her how cute that was, I asked her, “What are you going to wear?” LOL.

    Worth remembering ….

    http://www.ethicsdaily.com/an-accurate-look-at-timothy-mcveighs-beliefs-cms-15532

    Bottom line ….

What we are witnessing with Trump is merely an extension of the “Christian Identity” hate cult that was McVeigh’s only “faith.”

And, the emergence of the conditions that enable folk like Trump to recruit zealots are precisely those described in the Neoliberalism treatise I posted in the previous thread – something I hope all of you read and spread widely.

Christie is almost a caricature of an ‘evil governor.’ Has he ever done one decent thing in his tenure? And people used to tell me that he “tells it like it is.” No wonder he follows Trump around like a puppy dog.

    • July 2, 2016 at 3:54 pm

      This is their suit…

Lawyers for three people who survived the attack and the estates of five who were slain inside the Emanuel AME Church say the FBI negligently failed to thoroughly check Roof’s background before he bought the gun last year.

If the agency had done its job, Roof’s prior drug arrest would have shown up, and the bureau would have denied his purchase, the lawsuits filed Thursday allege.

      **********************

why the FBI….i don’ t get this….the NC GOP controlled state house and the Congress are responsible for the lax gun laws…the Senate has held up the nominee for the ATF chief….

these are the folks who should be held accountable for lax gun laws……..

      • 122 Dudette
        July 2, 2016 at 4:18 pm

They’re suing over the effective maintenance and implementation of current checks in place that didn’t work. It’s winnable and the remedy is to make the system work better.

        • July 2, 2016 at 4:25 pm

this remedy blames the government for a system that has been obstructed by gun nuts and the gun lobby…and those legislators who do their bidding….

the folks who make out will be the attorneys…

          • 124 Dudette
            July 2, 2016 at 4:43 pm

I agree with you in general but even in this specific case the FBI admits some mistakes were made, plus there was a local clerical error that resulted in his drug arrest not being caught. Sometimes the only fix for legislative negligence & malfeasance is to go through the courts. If it reaches federal level, which admittedly will take some time, the outcome could be far-reaching.
