Bonnet says he’s been on walks in the market and has overheard people asking for directions to the “Obama bakery.” But he doesn’t mind that people don’t remember the name “Le Moulin de Provence.” In fact, you don’t even have to step foot in the bakery to see it’s a point of pride. Photos decorate the outside, showing the Obamas holding hands, Obama posing with people on the fateful day, a sign that reads “Obama cookies sold here.” The bakery’s website even has an entire page dedicated to “The Obama Visit.”
And if Obama decides to visit the bakery again while in Ottawa, Bonnet says he’ll first thank the President, then offer him another cookie—this time for free.
I was super proud of MN voters that year we voted down the Voter ID restriction AND the same sex marriage ban. MN GOP really stepped in it that year, they thought they would rile up their own voters over those issues, but in the end sane, forward thinking people carried the day and it ended up costing GOP seats as well and lead to MN marriage equality that next year!
But to hear stories of veterans and seniors (85% of rejected ID requests from AA?? really Wisconsin???) leaves me with a very bad feeling.
One step forward two steps back it would seem in regards to voting rights. I also read somewhere that the average wait time for an AA to wait in line to vote is over DOUBLE what white folks have to wait.
SCOTUS gutting the VRA was a vile move as well. We need to make voter registration automatic and have a holiday so EVERYONE can vote in every election. in the USA we must set the example for others to follow.
Good morning Chips, NW, and all of my TOD family. Our president looks so handsome.! Our FIrst Lady and daughters look so lovely. I will surely miss them when POTUS term is up. I think that is true for our entire TOD family.
HZ
HZ, we have to let them know how much we appreciate service, yes there are mean, nasty, hateful racists people in this country, who have shown such hate toward our First Family. But we appreciate them.
I have some great PBO supporters on my Facebook feed, and often they will post just a random “I Love my president” status. I’m glad to say what usually follows is a long comment thread of very diverse people giving their “Amen!”, “Me too”, or a lovely positive comment. It really helps me remember that most of the people in the country really like him-we just don’t hear about that on the news! Today, one man posted this and I thought he did a great job. I brought it here to give a lift to your day 🙂
“If only in terms of character, this is the greatest President of my lifetime, a lifetime that began when FDR was President. There has not been a day that’s gone by during Obama’s Presidency that I’ve not been astounded at all this man has been able to accomplish in his life and in his Presidency, especially considering the implacable opposition and antipathy he’s faced. As an individual, as a father, as a husband, and as a President, Barack Obama has been a model of excellence … excellence in integrity, in intellect, in compassion, in resolve, in emotional balance, in diligence, and in moral suasion. We are blessed to have him; we don’t deserve him.”
That’s just! The negative so so much louder than the positive! (And by the way, it is so nice to read your posts here with your voice in my ear and your face in my eyes!)
It’s true for all of us, GGail! As I face ‘losing’ the community I’ve had with my colleagues at school for so many years, our Washington trip made me feel connected with another rich and diverse group of amazing women just when I needed it most.
I don’t know if I like that, Mary. Now that some of you have seen me I find it harder to fade into the woodwork. [OTH, I do appreciate being able to picture all of *you*. 😀 ]
Hah! We’ve got you! (And I’d say that you could never fade into the woodwork, but you would just think I was being mean again, although I mean it in the nicest way possible!)
Today at 1 PM we are holding a sit in to disarm hate rally. We have 4 folks coming from Santa Rosa, look for a Sonoma County OFA banner.
Info below, hope to see you there.
The National Day of Action: Family Sit-In to Disarm Hate

Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, and Bay Area Members of Congress
To highlight the National Day of Action on Gun Violence Prevention, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA), Co-Chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, and Bay Area Members of Congress will hold a press event on Wednesday, June 29 at 1:00 p.m. PT at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.
The National Day of Action: Family Sit-In to Disarm Hate comes after House Democrats held a historic “No Bill, No Break” sit-in on the House Floor to demand action from Speaker Ryan and House Republicans. During the event, we will encourage Congress to confront gun violence by allowing a vote on “No Fly, No Buy” and legislation to strengthen background checks.
We invite your organization to attend and ask that you share the Eventbrite with your Bay Area members. Please note that youth and families are encouraged to attend.
The event will be live-streamed via Periscope and Facebook Live.

Only Hillary can stop racists, sexists, lying, thin skin bully Donald J. Trump.
Yea teach that old woman who’s to boss?

Thanks for sharing this booster, Maryl! Bring ’em on over whenever the spirit moves you :). We need the reminder of ‘balance’.
