ty so much for these pics of the First Lady’s mission and travel…re: Let Girls Learn….

i remember early on how the so called feminist movement chastised the First Lady for not selecting what they called real Women’s issues….because to them military families…childhood obesity…were not real woman’s issues…there have been no comments by so called feminists re: the Let Girls Learn… Initiative….

an initiative that can go a long way of changing minds and hearts toward America while uplifting women and girls around the world…this is diplomacy in action…

        GE PF58.

        Couldn’t agree with you more.

Still livid at Michelle Cottle (google her name and you’ll see the article) a Tennessee sorority sister who whined that Michelle Obama wasn’t up to par as a First Lady.

This blonde, Princess Bride-type sweet thing has no idea what it’s like for non-elite Americans, is too young to remember the influence JFK President’s fitness program had on the nation’s schools.

She has no concept of food deserts in our urban communities and is too dense to see that FLOTUS’ WH gardens have inspired urban community gardens throughout the country and brought support and awareness to childhood obesity.

#CluelessCottle, will never take her seriously again.

This is BS and so infuriating.

A justice system that allows you to walk free after being charged in two separate rape cases. I bet there are even more women that he’s raped who were too afraid to come forward.

These survivors courageously came forward and this scumbag gets less than a slap on the wrist after wrecking lives.

    • June 28, 2016 at 10:12 pm

Sometimes there are no words to describe it…the struggle for freedom and equity is so slow…that it may appear that we are not even moving..

how do we break out of this rape culture…

NW – Yes, I could “go looking for it,” but every time I come here, I learn so much in just one run-through of one of your posts, I don’t have to bother about rounding up my news du jour. I know all in TODville share that view! Thanks so much.

And hugs to dear Chips. Thinking of you.

  8. June 28, 2016 at 10:18 pm

Thank you NW for the recap of our First Lady day. And it’s so nice seeing Malia and Sasha with her.

  9. June 28, 2016 at 10:25 pm

Thank you for all you do, NerdyWonka, our incomparable and genius editor producer curator researcher and author of succinct brilliance.
It is a precious gift without which an infinite number of TOD family members would just keel over and die. I am thinking of our dear and fearless leader and lighthouse Ms Chips often, sending love to her in this time of sorrow.

Not yet as far as I’ve seen, TS. I’m signing off now, but I’ll be looking out for the card tomorrow; I’ll also be looking out for the live feed & video of @POTUS speaking to the Canadian Parliament.

      Sweet dreams, all y’all!

    This is interesting:)

    https://weather.com/science/environment/news/california-aquifers-discovered

California’s Central Valley has three times more freshwater in underground aquifers than previously thought, drinking water that could help the state weather future drought and fortify itself against a changing climate, according to a new Stanford University study.

But tapping that water, locked thousands of feet beneath the ground, will be expensive and comes with an enormous risk — it could cause the valley floor to sink, according to the study, published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Sinking land in the Central Valley is threatening roads, homes and other infrastructure, and reduces the amount of water some aquifers can hold.

“It’s not often that you find a ‘water windfall,’ but we just did,” said study co-author Rob Jackson, an earth system science professor at Stanford University. “California’s already using an increasing amount of groundwater from deeper than 1,000 feet. Our goal was to estimate how much water is potentially available.”
