The level of this dumbassery cannot be quantified. Also, to blame President Obama? That is one heck of a reach
Obama neglected Syria, allowed the crisis to spill over, driving migrants to Europe, pushing #Brexit over the edge.

With leave voters in Manchester for BBCNews -most told us they woke up thinking "what have I done?" & didn't actually expect the uk to leave

A Leave voter on the BBC:
"I thought remain would win. I didn't think my vote would mean anything. I'm quite worried now."
Great. Thanks.

Adam Sweeney (@AdamWSweeney) June 24, 2016
GM!! Wow…Wow.. Wow.. David Cameron resigned…
He voted to remain – would be impossible for him to be in charge of negotiating the exit – crazy group of 80 MPs wrote a letter saying he must stay regardless of the result. How could someone voting remain negotiate an exit?
GM Allison.
Congrats on 1st.
On the overnight thread BT LovelyPlains said that Cameron had scheduled a press conference for the wee hours EDT. Was too tired to respond, but my guess was that Cameron was announcing his resignation.
Know absolutely nothing about the parliamentary system (confuses me completely), but know that PMs step down when they can’t muster up a vote of confidence, and the leave vote meant that voters had no confidence in him.
So not a surprising development, not akin to Nixon’s resignation (which has happened only once in US history, versus countless PM resignations in UK history).
worth a redux.
hoo da fuck is josh rogin?
Hi AMK. I think Rogin already self identified as a horse’s ass.
Thanks for confirming that, jackieG. Ha! So sick of the blame Obama game, I could spit.
I’m going to take a look at my portfolio this morning and adjust it for the future.
G’morning Nerdy & TOD.
Hi, Hf. It’s a funny thing about voting and consequences, isn’t it? Democratic voters didn’t come out in 2010 and catastrophe happened in Congress and our state houses. I’ll bet most people who sat on their rears still can’t put it together that they caused it to happen. After all, what could their little vote matter?
Morning. I seem to remember a Brit newspaper headline in 2004 after GW Bush was reelected. It said, “How can 59,05,087 people be so dumb?” I think it’s time to return the question. Over 17 million Brits voted to leave the EU. “How can 17.4 million people be so dumb?” The negative consequences of yesterday’s vote are going to be vast and lasting for the UK –they have essentially bought themselves years of suffering and economic weakness as well as a likely permanent loss of international status. I hope all of us use this as an object lesson for November for US voters–“An emotional vote based on bigotry never goes well. Use your head and think before it’s too late.”
I was thinking of the same thing. I have that pic still somewhere. daily mirror, IIRR
jg, how right you are. I never want to hear anyone say again that the Brits are smarter and better educated than we are. They voted with the same reptilian part of the brain our far right wing does. Ignorant nativists; think if they vote this way all the people with darker skin will just disappear and they will have “their country back.” Same thinking. I’m afraid this will make post World War II rationing and conditions look good. The older generation is voting nostalgia…..remembering when England ruled the seas and started wars all over the world. When will people ever learn!
A lot of job seekers in the U.K. are white Europeans who leave their home countries to take very low pay in service jobs.
(Pay for service jobs must increase both here and over there.) London just voted in a Muslim Mayor at over 80%!
U.K. has been a beautiful melting pot for many a moon. Their reasons for voting to get out of the EU isn’t based on skin color.
Morning Allison. I’d be willing to bet that this is just the start of the UK’s fall. As PBO said, without the EU, the UK would go to the back of the queue when it comes to trade deals. Brits essentially surrendered their leadership role yesterday and probably didn’t even realize they were doing it.
Scotland will now leave the UK. And Northern Ireland is already talking about a reunification vote with the Irish Republic.
I saw posts that said Scotland is not leaving the UK. They voted stay.
Well, The Brits have totally fucked themselves. The ill-informed and the racists came out to vote and many who thought “surely this will not happen” stayed home. Now the markets and the pound are in a free-fall and it will be 2 to 5 years, according to which path they take in negotiations, before this matter is settled. Globalization is here to stay and everyone has a voice. The days of the Empire are long over and some of them have failed to realize it. PBO warned them; now they and the rest of us have to live with long-ranging financial fall out. This is a morality play whose lesson is easy to learn. We need to make sure that we do not follow the UK (well, it may not be the UK any longer with Scotland wanting out and Ireland calling for re-unification) into disaster by allowing Trump to become president.
Good Morning Everybody.
Jer, that would be laughable if it weren’t so tragic for the well being of those who live in these areas. I guess they’ll learn the hard way that voting has consequences.
This sounds a lot like our red states here in the U.S.
yes like the state that voted for the Governor who vowed to get rid of their health insurance.
Good morning TOD! Anxious to hear PBO’s statement later today, which I’m sure is coming. Fortunately, we currently have a leader who understands to consequences of global actions, unlike DT. Got up today to hear he again stuck his foot in his mouth about Brexit. Ya know the old saying, better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you’re stupid than to open your mouth and confirm it.
As I noted last night, I suspect this may ensure the Donald’s downfall as US voters look on in horror at the havoc that is wrecked when voters make stupid decisions. We shall see, but we need to work harder than ever. I have not yet donated to Hillary but that changes today.
Really good piece comparing the Brexit vote with DT in the LA Times if anyone is interested: http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-klaas-dirsus-leave-victory-in-britain-20160623-snap-story.html
Fear and bigotry have huge consequences in a global economy. At least DT’s good friend Putin is celebrating along with him this morning. THAT should scare the shit out of US voters.
I wonder if the Brexit vote will encourage Trump voters to think they can win. The Brexit voters in the UK had lots of proof that this would be an insanely stupid move yet they did it anyway, and I’m sure lots of them are still thinking Hurrah, we won!! People who want to vote for Trump have also heard about the consequences lots of times but don’t care. They don’t trust the people who are giving them the true information about the consequences: economists, government leaders, and highly educated people.
These younger voters are correct. So, what are they going to do about it? They can become cynical and resign themselves to living in a declining society, or, they can become activists and try to salvage something for the future.
That’s all fine. How many of them turned out to vote?
Exactly, AMK. And not just vote, but work to get others to vote. I’ll bet a lot of them just shrugged off the impending doom and went about their lives with no concern for what was coming and what they could do about it. Now, as Julius Caesar once said, “Alia jacta est.”
hopefruit2 Dear Bernie supporters you better open your eyes. You think Donald Trump in the oval office is no big deal, be careful now.

So basically the Tea-bag version of Brexit won.
Gm TOD’ers. This is just stunning what happened in the UK. I think the stars are starting to realign and I don’t see anything good coming out of this. Sad. But I think they brought this on themselves. They didn’t take care of the people of Europe during the recession and kept cutting instead of building it up, just like what the RWNJ want to do in the US. God help us all come November.
Roberta, I honestly hope that this is a wake up call for US voters and I certainly hope it motivates Democrats to come out to vote. Over the next several months we’ll start to see the UK unravel economically and I hope that our political leaders and all of us can use that as an object lesson in voter outreach. We can’t give in to despair.
This is my comments in a previous threads…re: concerns about the November Elections:
__________________________
i have seen many folks who show your concerns…
however the electorate that voted for Barack Obama will save the ass of the US once again…we have no illusions about what can happen in the country…take note of the recent verdicts in the Freddie Gray case…and the recent SCOTUS decision re: immigration…this is not about what might happen in the Future …this is about changing what is happening in the Present…
The Obama Coalition will organize…organize…organize…because we have no illusions about what we face…
YES WE MUST!!!!!!!!…
Hillary is doing the slow …painstaking work of organizing on the ground….Just what she must do….I am proud to say that my daughter is one of her foot soldiers….with support from her momma….
nothing is being taken for granted…we must organize in order to win…

Love your encouraging remark Prettyfoot!
YES WE CAN!!
Yes, we will, prettyfoot, and many thanks to your daughter! What concerns me is a remark in the comment to the Financial Times below: facts bounce off these voters. We want to deal with facts, but they are of no use to a big section of the electorate, and that includes people on the left like the Sanders supporters. We have to win without them and despite new voter suppression measures. I don’t doubt we can do it, but I think it will be even harder now. We have to find a different way to talk to and persuade people too.
Hear hear!
Brits shot themselves in the foot and are now wondering why they can’t walk. The bleak times are just beginning.
So who is the dumb “A” who tried to blame President Obama for what happen in England?
He’s just who you said he is, Bella. A dumbass!
Good West Coast morning NW & TOD family.
What. A. Shock!
I can’t afford to wait for my 401k to adjust again. 😳😳😳😳😳
Sports agent Hawi Keflezighi referred to himself and his client, 800-meter runner Boris Berian, as David, and Nike as Goliath in a recently established crowdfunded campaign to help cover Berian’s legal fees. In addition to working public sentiment and publicizing a landmark case for track and field athletes’ rights, Keflezighi hopes to raise $25,000 for slingshot ammo.
The Legal Fight Between Nike And Boris Berian Is Heating Up
Nike is steamed that 800-meter star Boris Berian has had the temerity to both reject their contract …

To recap, in June of 2014, Berian was living with a friend, flipping burgers for a paycheck, and training on his own at night. In June of 2015, having joined the very small Big Bear Track Club, he turned heads by finishing second to world record holder David Rudisha in a Diamond League meet. Nike offered him an endorsement contract that expired at the end of 2015.

Wow! I hope Boris wins in court and on the track!
When did “Sane” become a bad thing, it is like we are stuck in a world of extremism. At some point in time people need to stop being so gullible.
The limeys got ‘scarred’ so much of immigrants/muslins that they voted to go solo in fighting the terrists. Dumb asses.
amk, your ability to drill down to the crux of a given problem is without equal. Your pronouncements are like sweet sonnets that can tempt the most loyal of angels.
😄
GE amk.
We are in the midst of fear and denial and people who think Santa Claus will become real by wishing it so.
GM A. You are always wishing everyone GM/GE. Why are making me look bad? I have a reputation, you know.
And Ted nailed it. Now the oldies (if the stat I posted is true) screwed their yung’uns off their opportunities to work 27(?) EU countries.
GM TODville.
Too much turmoil in the global economic world today, mostly because of voters who don’t think things through, but in their minds fly their flag of choice (for England it’s St. George’s Cross, for America it’s the Confederate flag).
It so not helpful for well-paid idiots (pardon me, “analysts”) like Rogin to fall back on “Obama Derangement Syndrome” as the reason the world is going to hell in a handbasket.
Here’s link to opinion about GOP and ODS:
Good Morning Folks!
Sad to hear how UK voters tossed their own economy off a cliff. Good reminder that we can’t be complacent in our election.
A sliver of silver lining. By the way, I still think he’s gonna have to do better than this, if he wants to speak at the Dem convention.
Meanwhile his supporters are trying to get him on ballots all over the country as an independent and he isn’t doing a single thing to discourage it.
Good Morning Dudette and all of TOD
Morning Donna!
Good Morning Donna,
BS is the worst sore loser there exists. Putting his ego and ambitions first above all things.
Booooooooooom!!
Dude wins the internet!
I mean “She”
I don’t blame him. Would you want the responsibility of cleaning up after this shipwreck? Knowing you were completely opposed to it?
I don’t blame him. On this one, they made their beds….lay in it.
And I agree. There must be adults in the room when critical decisions are taken.
Agreed!
To add to amk’s post upthread about the age of voters casting either “remain” or “leave” votes, this is exactly what US Trump supporters want to pass on to their children… less opportunity:
I AM STILL EXTREMELY UPSET OVER THE SCOTUS SPLIT ON IMMIGRATION..WHAT SHAMEFUL TIMES IN OUR HISTORY WHEN WE ALLOW FEAR AND HATE TO STEER THE SHIP……………………..FURTHER INTO OBLIVION! WE HAVE NOONE TO BLAME BUT OUR OWN HATEFUL HEARTS!….PRESS ON ENERGIZER PRESIDENT…LET THE HOT SOX ROLL!..SILLY FOOLS!
GM SDS.
SCOTUS ruling yesterday was a set-back, but as PBO and MLK Jr. before him reminded us, progress takes time and we will encounter set-backs. But HRC will build on the foundation that PBO painstakingly laid down, with the help of a Dem majority Senate and House.
Here’s something for your Facebook page (not a member, so not sure how Facebook works):
I’m almost tempted to get out of the market temporarily and let this storm pass. I’m concerned most about how long will the market take to stabilize. All opinions will be greatly appreciated.
Bargain buying time …..
The Dow is down over three hundred points, I’m thinking about getting out of the market until the storm passes but I don’t want to do anything rash. Europe has let the foxes into the hen-house and now havoc has wrecked the market.
Don, do your own due diligence but getting out when it’s hitting such lows guarantees big losses. We don’t yet know how bad this will get but I’m going to ride it out, don’t need the money right now. We’ll see if fear/panic wins the day this afternoon. Good luck with whatever decision you make!
I think you’re right:) Just texted the same to hubby.
I’m 60 yrs old…I don’t have time for all these damn adjustments.
I feel you, I’m concerned about my retirement account.
I really panicked in 2008 when our economy took a nosedive. I nearly just cashed out. But my brother talked me out of it and I’m really glad he did because my investment has nearly tripled thanks to President Obama and his steady hand. But it’s a very personal decision and you have to feel comfortable.
Yep, 2008 was a blood bath and I was late getting out. I think I’m going to ride this out for a couple of days and reevaluate next week.
meta, you were so wise, they -usually older- panicked, sold, and now many are so poor, that they cannot get by on SS only. I told my mom to ignore my bros orders to sell as the market tanked. Thank god she listened to me vs my bro, In times like this, if you have good investments, ride the waves, most times all will brighten.
The last sentence of this quote reflects what has been going on here for the last 50 years.
back to work ….
Bob, I have a lot of respect for you, but you speak as though you can reason with these fuckers.
So what excuse do the other talking heads at CNN have for not polishing Trump’s sack?
I had to laugh. lololol make your bed…lay in it.
Well…I just woke up to this news.Holy shit. They didn’t give this any thought, did they? And we thoughts those Brits were so brainy….they should have listened to the youngsters. They fucked up bad….
Don…good question. We were putting money into all kinds of stocks and investments ourselves…I have no clue….going to ask hubby what he’s thinking though….
BINGO!
Yesterday before the Brexit vote I read a post on this blog that Trump’s University court case records were unsealed that showed him saying over 50 times “He could not remember.” Seems like that should be out there in the media reporting. There was speculation that his leaving to go to Scotland while that was released was strategical. I imagine it will be old news with Brexit taking all the oxygen out of the reporting. Hope Hillary’s ads reflect this info.
Well according to FOX News Trump is a genius for being in Scotland at the exact time Europe decides to kick themselves in the nuts.
Act surprised.

Bernie and his backhanded holier-than-thou BS. His petulant displays only demonstrate he’s not fit for higher office. He wrote the book on passive-aggressive.
New post.
