    Good Morning, TOD.

While communicating back and forth, some days were very difficult, but we thought Chips mom was eventually going to be okay and it was just a matter of finding the right healing environment for her.

Sad news today. Chips granted me permission to share with you all and she has also communicated with others. The doctors informed Chips that they don’t believe her mom is going to make it. I won’t go into all of the private details that Chips shared, but there are enough serious complications that Chips will be remaining at her mother’s side to provide her with comfort and love.

If you pray, meditate, believe, don’t believe, however you send out love to the universe, please send a lot Chips way. She needs it. She will be back when she is ready.

    Thank you.

Nerdy, thank yo so much for letting us know this. I wish there was a way that we could ease this sorrow for Chips, but it’s sad and lonely journey she’ll have to make, with, I hope, strong support from her family. Does anyone know a way to create a virtual card that we could all sign, giving her our love and support? I hope with all my heart that Chips’ mom is not suffering and has times when she and Chips can communicate and express their love. I will keep Chips and her mom in my prayers and in my heart, asking that this difficult time be made less painful for them both. You are a good friend, Nerdy, and both Chips and TOD are lucky to have you. Bless you.

        GM JackieG, NerdyW and TODville.

I’m all thumbs when it comes to tech stuff, but someone here with a bit of spare time and tech savvy might be able to help.

I wonder if our thoughts and love could be compiled onto a TOD family’s member (existing) blog?

As always, PBO, the greatest, most influential, effortless writer alive today has the empathy and love to express the right words at the right time.

I know I speak for the rest of the TOD community when I say that you and your mom are in our hearts, Chips, no matter what we happen to post or share on this blog in the coming days. At the center of it all, we are constantly sending you and your family our love and support!

Dear Needy, thank though good sharing the sad news. I think we all suspected as much. Thank you for keeping TOD-it’s the greatest gift you can give her at this time, time relive her of this burden.

As with many of you, I have been in this situation. As an only child, I cared for my mother in her last illness. It was the most difficult thing i had ever faced. Chips, God will give you strength and peace to face this. He is caring for your mother and you now. He is blessing the time you spend together. Talk, sing, hold her, she knows how much you love her. The connection between you will never be . “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”

      Hello Sailor

I was initially confused – but over time have become accustomed to the reality – I think of my parents every day – much more than I did when they were here with us. I talk to them, ask what they think & let them know when things are going well. I tell them how much I love the grandbabe & I swear my mother laughs at me as she know how much I didn’t enjoy being a mother to a child under 21.

I know my mother lost her Mom when she was quite young – I didn’t realise until later in my life, how much she must have missed her. She was always with us – we talked about ‘grandma’ all the time when I was young.

Strong family ties are what makes our lives. Tis good to have them.

Good morning, TOD! Back home, safe and sound; what idiot thought it was a good idea to schedule med appointments everyday this week — that would be me…

So sorry to hear of Momma Chips decline. Although it is heartbreaking, Chips is Blessed to be able to care for and comfort her Mom. I hope that her Mom will have more good days than bad, and that they’ll be able to communicate and share…

Sharing this weekend with my TOD Sisters and Nephew was a Blessing. We missed all who were not with us; however we carried you in our hearts and lifted toasts to Chips, Momma Chips, Nerdy, Bobfr, Don, Yardarm, HZ… actually, all of the family, individually and collectively — “even” AMK!

And remember, AMK, it was Chip’s mom who was our barometer on the Irish gay marriage vote. She felt a little uneasy about the idea, but she voted for it because it was ‘fair.’ From that day, I truly loved Chip’s mom–living in a changing world, not fully understanding it, but knowing it was right to make progress.

Congressional Black Caucus balks at two political reforms being pitched by Bernie Sanders

    By John Wagner
    June 19 at 10:39 PM

The Congressional Black Caucus is voicing strong opposition to two key political reforms being sought by presidential candidate Bernie Sanders in the run-up to the Democratic National Convention: abolishing superdelegates and opening up Democratic primaries and caucuses to independent voters.

Sanders is seeking to leverage his unexpectedly strong showing against Hillary Clinton in the Democratic presidential race this year to secure a series of policy and political objectives. Although none of the political reforms Sanders is seeking would affect his standing now, they are rooted in his frustrations with the contest against Clinton.

As of Sunday night, 587 superdelegates had announced their support for Clinton compared with 48 for Sanders, who sought to make a virtue of running against the “political establishment.” As a rule, the senator from Vermont also performed better against Clinton in primaries and caucuses where independent voters could participate.

In a letter sent to Sanders and Clinton on Saturday, the Democratic members of the Congressional Black Caucus said they oppose changes in both areas.

The Democrats utilize a system under which candidates win pledged delegates based on their performance in primaries and caucuses, but also seek support from superdelegates, Democratic elected officials and other party elites who have a say on the nomination but are not bound by the results in their states.

The letter, first reported by Politico, said that the current system “has worked quite well” because it allows members of Congress to serve as superdelegates “without the burdensome necessity of competing against constituents for the honor of representing the state during the nominating process.”

“There is no need to succumb to the pressure of a few individuals to make this change,” said the letter, signed by Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.), chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus.

The letter also said that opening up primaries to voters who aren’t Democrats “would dilute minority voting strength in many districts across the country.”

    • 73 Don
      June 20, 2016 at 10:31 am

Has there ever been a more tone deaf candidate, for some reason Sanders seems to go out of his way to run counter to minorities. Who the fuck is advising this guy?

      • 74 99ts
        June 20, 2016 at 10:33 am

        Maybe Corey Lewandowski?

      • 76 cd4biden
        June 20, 2016 at 1:55 pm

And if you open up the primary race to independents, etc., then doesn’t that just make it a General Election?

I mean the purpose of the Democratic Primary is to pick the Democrat’s preference for their candidate to face off in the general election against the Republican Party’s preferred candidate to represent them. If you want Independents to have a say then work your a** off to create a 3rd party that Independents can vote or caucus or whatever the hell you want to do to choose your candidate for the General Election. Otherwise STFU.

    • June 20, 2016 at 11:40 pm

And the Dems need them way more than they need the few Sanders holdouts.

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/06/20/trump-campaign-manager-s-firm-turned-blind-eye-to-burma-rapes.html

Jim Murphy, who became Trump’s new national political director earlier this month, was a managing partner at JLM Consulting when Trump hired him. Previously, he was a managing partner at the DCI Group lobbying firm from June 2002 until June 2012. For his last four years there, according to his LinkedIn page, he was also president. The firm is famous for making fake “smokers’ rights groups” to defend Big Tobacco, and for creating an astroturf campaign in favor of Social Security privatization (a campaign that belly-flopped).

In 2002, when Jim Murphy was a managing partner there, the DCI Group worked for a the Burmese military government. As part of that work, it issued press releases saying the country’s military wasn’t responsible for systematically raping ethnic minority women.
Just one problem: Reports from activists on the ground and from the U.S. State Department indicate that the military was, in fact, using rape as a weapon of war when DCI represented it—and still does so to this day. One former U.S. official who worked in Burma while DCI contracted with the country’s government said the firm’s statements on the issue were “propaganda” and “baloney”—all in defense of a military regime that human rights activists held responsible for the systematic rape, torture, and murder of countless ethnic minority women.

I figure Trump would appoint all of his kids to the many positions. Although who would then run his empire? Maybe it is just a ploy to have a reason to shut down all of his scam businesses instead of going broke.

I was always under the impression that con artist only ran short cons because running a long con was too dangerous because there were too many variables. But I’ll be damn if Trumps isn’t running a long con; Trump isn’t using any of his money because we really don’t know if he has that type of money to run a Presidential campaign to begin with. And on top of that Trump goes around telling fantastical stories about bringing millions of jobs back to America and building this great wall down on the boarder. He even talks like a con man, everything is either going to be the best or its going to be huge.

Don, he believes he’s a better grifter than S. Palin. He’s run the con longer than her. Period. I think he’s noticing karma on his heels. Ego kept him in the “game” & thus comes the stupendous dive. That’s what’s scaring the beJesus out of him right now.

Let’s sing & dance Earth Wind & Fire’s September for him, he should have quit then, & let’s vote the heck out of all elections:

Praying that even at this transitional moment for both Chips and her mother, the memories will be a source of strength and comfort for Chips going forward.

And thanks to NW for maintaining the light in the TOD village. Please know that your dedicated efforts are appreciated.

    Call your Senators

    http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/06/dylann-roof-background-check/487373/?utm_source=atltw

Two months before Dylann Roof gunned down nine people at Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, he went to buy a .45-caliber Glock pistol at a gun store in a rundown strip mall. The 21-year-old should have been barred from purchasing the gun due to an earlier drug arrest. But the sale went through because of a loophole in the National Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, the FBI later said.

Roof was able to buy the weapon after the investigator assigned to complete his background check wasn’t able to find his police record, which contained a confession for drug possession. Under federal law, NICS has three business days to finish vetting a gun buyer, or the sale can proceed. When the deadline expired with his background check still incomplete, Roof got his gun.

Last summer, the story of Roof’s dead-end background check helped expose a loophole that annually allows upwards of 3,000 persons deemed too risky to own a gun to acquire a firearm via so-called “default proceed” sales.

    About time

    http://anewdomain.net/2016/06/19/dea-making-prescription-cannabis-legal-across-us-report-claims-breaking/

The DEA will officially reclassify cannabis as a prescription-only, Schedule II drug on Aug. 1, 2016, a report published a few hours ago claims. If true, that means medical marijuana could be legal by prescription — and perhaps only by prescription — in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the US territories. [UPDATED 6.20.2016]

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/how-trump-reportedly-decides-press-ban

A GQ profile of Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks published Monday detailed just how Trump goes about catching up on the news about his campaign—and how one article can get a writer banned from attending his events.

“She sees the tantrums, and there are tantrums,” an anonymous source who’s been with both Trump and Hicks told GQ. “He reads something he doesn’t like by a reporter, and it’s like, ‘This motherfucker! All right, fine. Hope?’ He circles it. ‘This guy’s banned! He’s banned for a while.’ That’s exactly how it works.”

Hi, TOD. I’ve been a long-time lurker, but had to de-lurk when I read about Ms. Chips’ Mom.

Ms. Chips, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You have created a wonderful forum for us to gather news, vent, discuss, laugh, cry, and even lurk. I’m truly grateful for this place and for each and everyone of you, even Amk :). Love you all.

    Dearest Chips,

Words can’t ever express our many feelings for you during this difficult time, but just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. It is never easy to lose someone so dear, but you are doing all you can do. We love you.
