President Barack Obama with First Lady Michelle Obama and their daughters Sasha and Malia, walk to board Air Force One at Roswell International Air Center in Roswell, New Mexico

President Barack Obama with First Lady Michelle Obama and their daughters Sasha and Malia, walk through Ahwahnee Meadow after arriving on Marine One in Yosemite Valley, California
Papa duck, Mama duck, and the ducklings all in a row; love our First Family.
Good morning, NW. Thanks for opening the doors.
Have a great weekend TOD ohana.
Yosemite has some of the most breathtaking views in the world, and (was wondering about this) our First Family is the first to do so for more than 50 years.
And from last night’s WH pool report:
“Marine One and the air convoy flew over a breathtaking landscape (rocky mountains, waterfalls, large forests) before landing at the Ahwahnee Meadow landing zone (an open field) in Yosemite National Park, with the Half Dome lit by the sun in the backdrop and the moon detaching itself from a pristine blue sky.
Maybe one of the most beautiful Marine One landing ever.”
Good Morning All! NW, thank you so much for all these wonderful posts. A fab Good Morning to all the wonderful TODers-in-DC group. It was wonderful meeting you all last night. I’m still smiling at my gift bag of TOD goodness! 🙂 Donna, thank you so much for organizing. Wish I could hang with you all today, I know you’ll have a fantastic time. HUGS to each and everyone!
Bobby Brown is just one of those guys who seems to have lived life to the fullest extent available to him. I have always thought he’d have to write a book one day, just to set the record truly straight on whether or not he turned Whitney onto coke or if she turned him onto coke – the receipts, if you will.
bbbookWell, because Jesus loves me (this I know), Bobby Browns’ memoir, Every Little Step: My Story, is now available and the excerpts from it are motherfucking insane. Which sounds right considering its Bobby Brown we’re talking about.
There’s the time he fucked Janet Jackson, Madonna, midgets, and ghosts. There’s the fact that he cooked a motherfucking COCAINE CHICKEN at age 10.
Look, I don’t give a shit what you say, cocaine chicken should not be a thing, but because of Bobby Brown, from here on out, henceforth and forever more, cocaine chicken is a thing. It is entirely possible that the next time I go to Popeye’s and order me a box set of chicken, I’ll make sure to ask if they can not put any cocaine on it, because Bobby Brown put cocaine on his chicken and ain’t nobody got time for that.
Good morning, TOD Family. What a blessing and gift to come here, always, and find that people are up and making coffee and reading the paper and starting the day for all of us. Congrats on First CEB! Nerdywonka keeps upping her game. Wonderful comments already; especially JER with the Yosemite instagram, and Dudette with recognition of POTUS’s father’s birthday. Gazelle, what a lovely message, and a delight to meet you. Happy Saturday to one and all.
One of the reasons I loved this photo tweeted by local reporter yesterday is because it’s framed by a peek of the retaining wall at what is probably the most photographed NPS scenic outlook spot.
All lovers and visitors to our oldest and most iconic National Parks recognize the familiar, yet remarkably crafted walls, roads and trails that make our National Parks accessible to the public (the “Going To The Sun” highway that traverses Glacier National Park comes to mind).
But because of our short-sighted, greedy and contemptible GOP, NPS infrastructure is crumbling before our eyes — not surprisingly, since most was built 80 or so years ago.
If anyone you know appreciates the grandeur and beauty of what Mother Nature bestowed on the USA is even *thinking* of voting for a GOP for national office, please remind them of this:
G’morning Nerdy & TOD! Congrats CEB on #1, and Happy Saturday everyone! 🙂 Thanks Nerdy for posting these wonderful pictures, and thanks JER for the additional pics and videos!!
Is our President supposed to give a speech at Yosemite today? 🙂
// When President Barack Obama delivers his remarks at Yosemite National Park on Saturday, he’ll have no shortage of accomplishments to tout. Obama has created 21 new national monuments using his authority under the Antiquities Act, more than any other president. Overall, he’s protected more than 265 million acres of public lands and waters, including a broad swath of the Pacific Ocean — again, more than any other president, White House officials say. //
I just FaceTimed for a couple of minutes with a few of the TODers who were waiting for their shuttle in DC. SO SWEET and beautiful. Hope they have another adventurous day!
The Republican Party for years courted the loons and now they have taken over the asylum. It will be a long time before a “not totally crazy” Republican can get elected President. I miss John Boehner.
NPR had an interview with some university professor this morning concerning his new book about the failure of the Obama administration to close Guantanamo. I was screaming at my radio at every reply the author made to the questioner. He seemed like a far left lunatic that only blamed Obama not taking into account the obstruction he met from Congress especially when he talked about how it could have all turned out differently if he had brought prisoners to the US to be held and tried here. My thinking was I may have been tricked by that answer if I had not been following this administration so closely knowing PBO tried to do that and a scare tactic by the GOP even got Dems and the public siding with them not to allow that.
Some people actually “need” someone to blame for their own shortcomings, in addition to being guided by their own prejudices. When facts are presented and one doesn’t accept them, we see the dishonesty. So many lost souls abound !
National parks are an American invention. They are treasures in our national inheritance — millions of acres of public lands and waterways — that one generation passes on to the next. These beautiful spaces offer adventures for our children, essential protection for our wildlife, and support for local economies.
Yet, we aren’t entitled to them. Our public lands need our protection — they need our dedication to their upkeep and our commitment to their expansion.
And it falls on the shoulders of each new generation to carry on this stunning inheritance, because even though our national parks are vital to our future, the consequences of climate change are becoming more evident every day.
That’s why the First Family is traveling to Carlsbad Caverns and Yosemite National Parks this weekend.
Not only are they celebrating the National Parks’ 100th anniversary, they’re highlighting the critical role our parks will play in America’s next century.
You can follow the First Family’s trip this weekend on our live blog.
That’s also why President Obama has taken unprecedented action to invest in America’s natural resources, setting aside more public lands and water in his two terms than any president in American history. He is America’s most prolific conservationist — and he’s not done yet.
Here’s what you need to know about President Obama’s historic conservation record:
Protected more than 265 million acres of America’s public lands and waters — more than any other president in history.
Dedicated unprecedented attention and resources to restoring iconic places like the Chesapeake Bay, California Bay-Delta, Great Lakes, and Everglades.
Designated more than 2 million acres of federal wilderness and protected thousands of miles of trails and more than one thousand miles of rivers.
Oversaw more wildlife recoveries under the Endangered Species Act than under any previous administration.
Launched Every Kid in a Park, which gives fourth graders and their families free access to parks.
Get the full record on how the President has protected our treasured national resources.
You can also help celebrate and support our national park system by sharing photos of your favorite park with the hashtag #FindYourPark.
And I will add, PBO knows better than anyone protecting our parks and public lands from privatization and commercial development is critical to leaving some lasting, and valuable beyond money, treasure for the future of our children, their children, and whatever wildlife may manage to survive the wreckage humanity is causing to this small and brilliant planet we call home. It’s all we have. For now, at any rate.
Kaisch, the governor of Ohio pushed hard for the gop convention to take place in Cleveland.
now as we hear talks of huge protests and companies pulling out of the sponsoring the convention, the city of Cleveland and the state of Ohio in general, are going to take a huge financial loss.
local small businesses may take a financial hit if they had invested in anticipation of getting some gop cash in flow
right wingers gerrymandered the OH districts so they dominate the state legislature.
so there no doubt in my mind that some OH state money was put into the convention and is going to be used to pay for the heavy security.
with little private money coming in the books are going to be red. I hope this will be used by local Dems as campaign criticism.
Papa duck, Mama duck, and the ducklings all in a row; love our First Family.
Good morning, NW. Thanks for opening the doors.
Have a great weekend TOD ohana.

Good morning, JER, and thank you for the resources you post.
Listening to JFK speak just gives me chills. He was very gracious in his remarks.
Good Morning Meta. It’s is my pleasure.
Coat and tie at Yosemite. I think our current president got it right. Even the SS went casual….clothes only, that is. Sign of the times.
What time will POTUS speak?
Not absolutely sure, but maybe 11:00 a.m. local time (3:00 p.m. EDT).
Bella, that should be 11 a.m. local; 2 p.m. EDT — maybe.
WOW…look at that backdrop scene. It’s absolutely breathtaking…
I just FaceTimed for a couple of minutes with a few of the TODers who were waiting for their shuttle in DC. SO SWEET and beautiful. Hope they have another adventurous day!
That’s great meta. Glad they were able to meet up and enjoy the sights and sounds of the district. It’s a phenomenal place to visit for sure!
They sounded psyched to get going. I’m sure they’re having a fabulous time!
Such a beautiful way to begin the day…lovely photos:) Thank you!
Good Morning TODVille!
I saw FOUR MUSKETEERS on the post. They look ready for outdoor adventures. Love them!
🙂 Huh…

NPR is full of it. I cut them off way back since 2012 – when they only had negative things to say about PBO and DNC Convention.

Pretty cringeworthy….
If ever one would want to say, GET A LIFE, this would be the time.
I think it’s past that point:)
Congratulations to all of them.
The White House will carry the President’s address:
Yes. Please!
If this means we have to endure Mankini…I will just drink myself to death (poetic license used here)
Looks like a super beautiful day:
Don’t you just love our POTUS and FLOTUS?
TO PIECES
LOL – when your intended “insult” backfires big time!
Greatest of All Time.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Juneteenth Festival happening today in the Fillmore Jazz District:
#CheetoJesus is just enjoying the ride along the GOP’s scenic #TrailOfHate that they’ve been building since Nixon took office in 1969 ….
Hope all of you are enjoying your Saturday as much as POTUS and FLOTUS are!!
This makes me want to take an all-inclusive vacay to the parks!!! 🙂
