Am saying goodbye now to my non-succulent plants, think the annuals will die this weekend, even in the shade. 😦
Agreed…about the weather warning and being sick to death of DT… as far as the plants are concerned…I only plant succulents in the summer…just bought some portulacas, or as my family calls them, “Jump Up and Kiss Me’s” That’s about all I plant that can tolerate this heat…Good luck!!

Have you noticed over the last two weeks that he seems to be really spreading the white eye concealer all over his face now – on purpose? Either that or he has a new makeup “girl.” (Ugh.)
I do love having them in California! And I think they’re going to absolutely love every minute in Yosemite. The rain enabled plentiful waterfalls and I hope the weather is perfect for them. And I hope there are lots of wildflowers. Just the smell of the Redwoods should invigorate them! Exciting!
I went off to find out something about the architecture – since it looked as though it may have been meant to resemble a slave ship – found a totally fascinating article with the architect’s perspective …
I have always thought (well for the last eight plus years) that Malia looks more like Dad while Sasha looks more like Mom. As they grow older I still believe that although I do see features of both parents in each girl. I really loved the dress Sasha had on in the photos of leaving the WH. She wears clothes as nicely as her Mom does.
Totally agree. Both are beauties. And if they’re anything like my oldest 3 granddaughters, they each wish they looked more like the other or had the other’s hair or [fill in the blank] !

Whoops, slip o’ the finger. …….boyfriend’s birthday. It it such a gorgeous place, situated among the mountains and giant trees. Lots of Native American artifacts in their collection. Heaven.
I was 15 when I took my first trip to Yosemite. i stayed at the Ahwahnee at a time when African Americans did not. The grounds are gorgeous. And the main hotel is beautiful. We stayed in one of the cabins and were there for about 10 days. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel with white tablecloths and white gloved (yes seriously). we went horsebackriding everyday so we had lunch on the trail, including a full course trail breakfast. I loved loved every minute.
For VC and her son Theodore, who gifted us with a musical composition of a birthday song for POTUS last night:
In all today’s excitement I forgot to mention how much i enjoyed Theodore’s music. Listened to it first thing when I got up, then it was playing in my head all morning! Talented young man you’ve got there! Really appreciate his lovely gift to us; and to know he composed it himself – such a treasure! ❤️ 🎹🎧🎼
I hope he’s able to send a copy to the President. How cool would it be if he wrote back?!!
Oh Nerdy, Bless your heart for the great pics and stories. They always makes my night shifts go easier. Couldn’t be happier for the first family taking a weekend off to share some time together. These are the things i would love to do with my grandchildren someday. They are a shining example.
