I turned to MSNBC and CNN after I returned home to see what was happening in the news today. Both channels had Donald Trump on. At first MSNBC had a little square of Hillary’s rally in VA and it quickly disappeared. Is this Trump speech suppose to be a special speech or just another hate speech?

Please, bless and guide them and give them the continued strength to fight this fight to the end.

Along the lines of enough being enough, I’m bringing this over from last thread.

I just called both my senators offices. Had to call local office for Corker because after many times trying the DC office and getting constant busy, I gave up. Alexander’s DC office was also VERY busy–high volume of calls according to the young man. As I said to both of them, that should tell them how the people are feeling. I had my script written and asked at the very beginning that it be read back to me. Here’s my points: 1. Tired and angry at having to make these repeated calls to my R senators. 2. Do your job! Stop the hate and the obstruction. 3. You should know after 7+ years it isn’t going to work and you will not destroy this President’s stellar legacy. 4. Stop supporting the hate, the evil and the fear. 5. Do your job for your constituents and also for the nation. Three items to do your job: 1. Support the SC nominee having a hearing and a vote on the Senate floor. 2. Support the counter terrorism nominee (for finance matters) who has languished for over 400 days getting a vote. 3. Support common sense gun legislation.

Both people did a good job at getting everything down. (I spoke slowly and clearly.) Then, as much as I tried, I became very emotional, not mean/angry emotional but frustrated emotional. They were both nice and understanding and I pointed out my emotions were not directed at them personally, but that I DO want my senator to know that I, like thousands of others, have had ENOUGH. ENOUGH is ENOUGH is ENOUGH…..and I said that.

Bless you tnmtngirl! As PBO has said many times, We are the change we seek! The government is of the people, by the people and should be for the people. We hire them. It is up to us to supervise them, give them performance reviews and to fire them if they aren’t doing what we hire them to do. You are doing your job as a citizen!

TnMtnGirl, thanks for the template. Used it when I called Toomey’s office with slight modifications — Manchin announced that he & toomey are going to relaunch their gun show loophole bill. Baby steps will not help him win reelection…

And once again….this is a result of a Bill Clinton signing the legislation.

He was really an awful President.

Bill wasn’t perfect, but he was actually made a lot of progress on gun control. I am old enough to remember. I wasn’t familiar with him until he got the Dem nomination, but I remember he ran on gun control (which no Dem before was brave enough to do). He’s the one who personally pushed for got the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban passed (the one the GWB admin let expire). This was during the first half of his first term (like PBO was able to push through the ACA when he had a Dem Congress). Like PBO in 2010 and 2014, the midterms brought in a Repub majority:

“Although initially heralded as a victory for Clinton and Democrats in congress, it proved costly. The bill energized the NRA and Republican base, and contributed to the Republican takeover of both houses in the 1994 mid-term elections. Many Democrats who had supported Clinton’s gun control measures were ousted, including Speaker Tom Foley. Clinton acknowledged that he had hurt Democrats with his victories.

Clinton continued to push further regulations of firearms in his second term, especially after the Columbine High School massacre. Little success came out of his efforts as Republicans controlled congress during this time, and a majority opposed any further gun control. The House voted to overturn the assault weapons ban in 1996, but the Senate failed to take up the issue.”

Probably, the Repub control of House and Senate contributed to why he eventually signed the bill that contained the Dickey Amendment. The Assault Weapon Ban was still the law at the time.

A certain Senator from Vermont, however, voted with the Repubs, not the Dems, and helped pass it:

      June 15, 2016 at 4:07 pm

But on a gut level, I think DWS is quite likely to be first pick for chief of staff or some close in position to the oval office, given her lengthy dedication to hrc over the years. I hope I’m wrong

          June 15, 2016 at 6:12 pm

And actually, I’ve long felt DWS may have been appointed as DNC chair during the negotiations of what hrc could get from PBO when it was she was not going to be the nominee back in 2008. At the time, I thought DWS was a good pick, as she came into the ObamaTrain and worked very hard. But some of the questionable decisions she has made leading up to the current campaign have left many of us scratching our heads and calling for her to step down.

DNC chairs usually only serve for a few cycles. So it’s conceivable that DWS would be out anyway.

Everything changes when an AR-15 is present. Everything.

Monday there was another mass shooting in West Virginia, which turns out to have been a sovereign citizen who had a dispute with his neighbors over firewood. Instead of resolving the matter peacefully, he pulled out an AR-15 and shot them all to death.

    No, really. Over firewood.

Good for him! This CEO packed up and left Kansas because Brownback broke it so bad…

“I can’t, in good conscience, continue to give our tax money to a government that actively works against the needs of its citizens; a state that is systematically targeting the citizens in most need, denying them critical care and reducing their cost of life as if they’re simply a tax burden that should be ignored.” – Jeff Blackwood, CEO of Pathfinder Health Innovations

Neutrality is a choice. It’s a choice to let evil win. It’s a choice to let evil prosper. I hope that people who read this who are considering this choice read this with an open mind, and reconsider their decision. Trump’s election will not usher in a socialist revolution; it will cut off all the progress we’ve made in the past 8 years. Is this a price to pay for the fact that the political revolution promised by Bernie Sanders didn’t come to fruition?

Donald Trump Pushes Conspiracy Theory That Obama Supports ISIS
    Jun 15, 2016, 1:36 PM ET

Trump is no stranger to pushing conspiracy theories. He practically gave birth to the “birther” movement, which aimed to prove President Obama was not a U.S.-born citizen. That saga ended in dramatic fashion after the president produced his birth certificate to the public. Trump also has a history questioning Obama’s Christian faith, once claiming that this birth certificate may list him a Muslim.
