The question Oprah just asked FLOTUS, what can men do [after leaving this United Women of Summit]? “BE BETTER!” 😆 😆 Her comments about watching her hubby come off Marine One to walk (swagalicious) into the Oval Office; just had me laughing out loud. Time to bring out the naughty mat for FLOTUS? 😆 😆 She is SOO REAL! LUV HER!

“It is appalling that days after our nation has suffered such a terrible attack, Republicans would vote to protect suspected terrorists’ ability to arm themselves to the teeth at American gun stores.

“Republicans’ decision to block the bipartisan ‘No Fly, No Buy’ bill is dangerous and indefensible. If you’re too dangerous to fly, you’re too dangerous to buy a gun. Yet on 12 different occasions, Republicans have voted to block this common sense step to keep the American people safe from terror.

“We have no right to hold moments of silence without days of action to honor the victims of gun violence. House Democrats will continue to demand that we close the scandalous ‘No Fly, No Buy’ loophole immediately.”

WTH?!?!?!? Why would even think it’s okay to put a rope around anyone’s neck?!?!?!?!?

A shocking lawsuit this week alleges that officials at the Live Oak Classical School in Waco, Tx. looked the other way after three white boys put a rope around a 12-year-old black girls neck and dragged her around.

WacoTrib.com reports that Levi McCathern, the attorney representing the girl’s family, alleges that the girl was continuously bullied even as school officials downplayed her treatment. The $3 million lawsuit alleges negligence, gross negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress against the school.

For its part, the school has claimed that the entire incident was an accident and the boys were just being playful when they put a rope around the girl’s neck.

The Milwaukee Journel-Sentinel editorial board today:
Trump again shows why he’s unfit to be president

In the wake of the horror in Orlando on Saturday night, Donald Trump again showed just why he is unfit to hold the highest office in the land. Trump is in fact the best argument against Trump.

He has the temperament of a child; in fact, a very specific child: the attention-seeking bully on the playground who slaps around anyone who criticizes him or gets in his way. Is this really a person who can be trusted with the nuclear codes? Responsible Republicans should refuse to support him. Not just because of his statements in the wake of Orlando, but because of his long trail of embarrassments that made the Orlando statements no surprise to anyone.

    POTUS is speaking now.

  10. June 14, 2016 at 7:02 pm

You built this. You own this. And, the media should begin every press interview with:

Congressman, Senator, what do you think about what GOP Presidential Nominee Donald Trump said today?

Should ask this question 10 times in a row. And, get it all on tape.

    Hill Republicans despondent over Trump
Many senators are simply refusing to say anything about their presumptive nominee.
    06/14/16 06:50 PM EDT

Senate Republicans have tried to work with Donald Trump. They’ve offered gentle advice and firm guidance, hoping he’ll morph into a general election candidate who won’t kill their chances of keeping the Senate, or better yet, will give Hillary Clinton a run for her money.

None of it has worked. And now a palpable mix of despair and resignation has permeated the Senate Republican Conference. Many lawmakers are openly frustrated, and refusing to defend the comments and actions of their own standard-bearer, the man they’ve endorsed for president.

Trump’s insinuation that Obama may be sympathetic to Islamic State terrorists was the final straw for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

“I’m not going to be commenting on the presidential candidates today,” the Kentucky Republican said Tuesday, in an abrupt reversal after several weeks of weighing in on Trump’s performance, particularly the ways he believed the candidate needed to improve.

McConnell’s No. 2, Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), declared he was done talking about Trump until after the election — nearly five months away.

    “Wish me luck,” he said.

      GE rikyrah.

Apparently this is not surprising to experts. Here in the US, think “pray away the gay.”

Also I mentioned in a previous thread that it’s unsurprising to me when homophobes turn out to be closeted gays. First example that comes to mind is J. Edgar Hoover, but there’s been plenty of lawmakers since then. Most people don’t give a flying fig as to what happens between consenting adults in the privacy of their bedroom (unless there’s violence/assault, of course).

      From the article:

“Recruiters and propagandists for extremist groups promise salvation through fundamentalist Islam and violence in its name. Their claims might be attractive, the experts said, to troubled Muslims who feel shame or fear afterlife punishment over their sexual desires.

In the radicalization process . . . one of the common things that they say is ‘repent.’ This is sort of a recurring thing: ‘If you do this, you would have washed away your sins of the past. Seek salvation. This is your salvation,’ said Kamran Bokhari, senior fellow at the Center for Global Policy.”

“A British teenager who joined Daesh in Syria engaged in flirtatious texting with the young man who helped him make the trip. A gay British Muslim, now an agnostic, once contemplated a bomb attack in London while he was an extremist drawn to radical Islam in an attempt to ‘cure’ his sexuality.

‘In another case in the States, the individuals who engaged in terrorist activities were actually engaging at the same time in homosexual activities,’ said Lorenzo Vidino, director of the Program on Extremism at George Washington University, who has detailed knowledge of the case but said he could not provide details because they are not public.”

What It’s Like to Lose to Donald Trump
    June 14, 2016

Sam Stein interviews Danny Diaz (Jeb Bush’s campaign manager), Jeff Roe (Ted Cruz’s campaign manager) and Alex Conant (Marco Rubio’s communications director).

“Well-compensated, highly intelligent and very publicly defeated, each one of them is still angry, both at Trump and at the media. Each one of them has theories about how we got to this very disconcerting place in American political history. And not one of them is prepared to vote for Trump.”

“The stories they told me over a 90-minute conversation at a bar called Black Jack in Washington DC provided an entirely different view of the campaign and of elite Republican thinking. They spoke with unusual candor about which strategies they pushed that they now regret, how they believe network executives conspired against their candidates, what a disaster the Republican convention will be and why a Hillary Clinton blowout may be upon us.”

Perhaps the polls in the coming days will prove me wrong, but my hunch is that voters will recoil from a man so eager to exploit national pain, so willing to scapegoat entire groups of people, so ready to traffic in groundless conspiracy theories, and so indifferent to whether what he says is true or false.

It is a cliché of political rhetoric, but no less true for that: We really are better than this.

{{{GGail}}} Yes, he is and I’m ready to go to bed but it’s only 8 p.m., our time! A couple hours ago he messaged me “very very tired.” Thinking he didn’t get much sleep last night, plus was under the anesthesia earlier. Thinking he’s glad yet another procedure is done – it’s the SIXTH bronchoscopy he’s had in the last year, he told me earlier. I don’t know how he keeps going with such high hopes, but I know that helps drag me along!

If you don’t mind my rambling a little bit more … he went into the hospital June 29, 2015, for a biopsy. They didn’t think he had cancer and were telling him that for months. They found cancer during that procedure, and removed all of it with his right lung. He only found out when he awoke from the anesthesia. (Later, he had the PET Scan and they pronounced him cancer free, PTL.) The remarkable thing is he recently told me he doesn’t want any sympathy for having cancer, because, technically, he NEVER HAD A WAKING MOMENT when he had it or had to deal with it, like some people. How’s that for strength?

            Thanks for asking, sugar.

At this point as much as I hate Trump I want him to be the GOP nominee. If they switch last minute there may not be enough time to vet the new nominee so the public actually knows the negatives of the replacement candidate. I do NOT want any Republican President due to their policies.

When Hillary lost I only remember she requested Obama help pay off her campaign debts. I remember at the time being incensed with that request thinking she insisted on running that long why should we pay her debts off and I refused to donate to her then. Bernie is demanding so much more. I certainly hope he does not decide to keep running as an Independent or not work to get his supporters to vote for her. I do not want the Democratic primary to be open making it no different than a General Election. Democrats should have say about their primaries.

Truly infuriating – it has taken Donald Trump and mass murder to get the media to discuss/accept that the GOP in congress are NOT DOING THEIR JOB. Suddenly they have stopped blaming PBO for the hatred extended by congress. Just 7 years too late. The media built Trump & encouraged people to vote for a GOP congress. They get what they wanted & suddenly see what they have wrought.
