    Good morning TOD!

PLEASE REPOST IN THE NEXT THREAD since I will likely not be here when it opens.

Jacqueline (aka jacquelineoboomer) contacted me via Twitter DM to request that I let all of you know that her son will be having another procedure today to repair an issue with his lung. Please extend to them your prayers and TOD love! Thank you!

Thanks again to Bob – and to you, Alycee and all who posted – for taking the time to hold my son Steve in your thoughts and prayers. It’s working! He had this morning’s procedure and is home already. Says he’s going to “sit tight” and let it work! I’m for that.

Thanks again. And, “jazziz,” I’m setting aside a little bail money. Hoping “we” won’t need it! Ha.

      Off to snooze.

It never ceases to amaze me that people in this country elect halfwits like this to Congress. They embarrass themselves and their districts in front of the whole world and make the US itself seem like a land of idiots. Well maybe that’s not such an inaccurate portrait, given the disgrace of the Trump candidacy.

This is from Juan Cole, who further debunks that the Orlando Shooter had anything to do with ISIS:

    Juan Cole’s excellent Informed Comment:
Top 7 ways to tell if Someone is lying about being a ‘Salafi Jihadi’
    1. Salafi Jihadis don’t drink alcohol.
    2. Salafi Jihadis don’t hang out in bars.
    3. Salafi Jihadis don’t, in particular, frequent gay bars.
    4. Salafi Jihadis don’t text potential hook-ups using a gay dating app.
    5. Salafi Jihadis aren’t usually clean shaven.
    6. Salafi Jihadis don’t typically claim to have an affiliation with a Shiite group such as Hizbullah, which is fighting ISIL in Syria. (Here “typically” means, like, “ever.”)
    7. Salafi Jihadis don’t express a hope that non-Muslim police will assault their wives.

      June 14, 2016 at 9:06 am

Rikyrah, Trump and the idiots who follow him couldn’t tell a Salafi Jihadi from a watermelon. Nor would they care. They only want to make loud noises, get people stirred up and throw poop at the other side. If you told them something wasn’t true, their response would be ‘So?’

      GM rikyrah.

Hard to fathom how a mind which can even consider doing what was done in Orlando works, but PBO has the best grasp yet of the deranged killer’s motivation (see PBO’s statement on Sunday morning).

Just speculation on my part, but the eventual target of this madman’s rage was driven by inner rage — seems to me that virulent homophobes seem to be closeted gays, starting with J. Edgar Hoover. Who else gives a flying fig of what other people do in their bedrooms if they’re not violent/abusive?

Today is both Bastille Day in France and the final primary in DC. Twenty delegates are at stake and HRC is hoping for 12. None of it matters, but it would be nice to see DC residents turn out to add a coda to this endless primary. GM DF.

We’ve had wonderful weather this Spring, after temps neared 100F during most of February.

However, that’s about to change this weekend — coastal Phoenix weather is on its way… heard on the radio yesterday that temps forecast for 107F in some parts of LA region this weekend 😦 .

Crap spewing from Trump’s mouth has only just begun. His M.O. is to attack (go on the offensive) rather than own up to (admit) that he is a #conman FRAUD.

Fucking whiners. They made this and continue to enable this self absorbed, bombastic, know nothing piece of shit. I hate them all for making the rest of us have to listen to his crap on a daily basis. I hope they loose so bad in November, at all levels of govt…that it will take generations to ever have a seat at the table. Seriously.

Weather? IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE 120 DEGREES IN PHOENIX ON SUNDAY!! WTF! Not to worry say the people that live in their air conditioned bubble….there is no such thing as global warming!! I would like to invite them all to PHX in the summer…and they CAN NOT hide in a air conditioned hotel room! They have to be the roofers and the firefighters and the landscapers that LIVE in this hell!
I have no idea where I will be….in the pool may even seem like I’d need to add carrots, onions and celery to the pot of boiling water that will be the pool:)

Yep, GOP “built that,” and MSM need to ask the question “where were you with the ridiculous birther nonsense,” of themselves and of the GOP.

re: weather forecast ((( DF ))).

What an unbearable forecast, and it’s not even summer (which starts next week) yet.

Don’t like hot weather to begin with, and am really grumpy when I open the door in the morning and it literally feels like opening an oven door. 😦 😦 😦

It’s too bad that builders in the west believe that we don’t need basements here (my mother told me it’s because of earthquakes — have no idea if that’s true, or just an urban myth).

If PBO and family’s trip to Carlsbad Caverns and Yosemite is still (hoping that it IS), they’ll be treated to COLD temps in the caverns. 🙂

Omar Mateen is to blame for the terrible tragedy that happen in Orlando, but the fact that this man could walk into a gun store and buy such a horrible weapon like the AR-15, as easy as you would walk into a coffee shop and buy a cup of coffee, that is wrong. And we have to place the blame for that were it belongs, the NRA and Republicans.

The White House is holding an event focusing on women’s issues on Tuesday, and as part of the day-long summit it announced actions it is taking to try and reduce the gap in pay between men and women.

One brand new step is calling on private sector companies to make a promise that they will look at their own internal gender wage gaps. Any company that signs up for this “White House Equal Pay Pledge” agrees to conduct an analysis of pay by gender across its entire workforce, review its own hiring and promotion practices to reduce bias, and include equal pay in overall efforts to promote equality within its own ranks, as well as look for any other practices that can ensure women are paid equally with men.

The pledge already has a number of high-profile companies signing on out the gate, from industries ranging from technology to consumer products. There are 28 signatories so far, among them Amazon, American Airlines, Dow Chemical, Gap Inc., Johnson & Johnson, L’Oréal USA, PepsiCo, and Staples.

If nothing else, Republicans at least had emails.

The GOP presumptive presidential nominee may make ignorant, dishonest, vulgar, and racist comments, and may have a platform to match, but Hillary Clinton did not properly follow cabinet-level email server protocols – and as has become abundantly clear, the political world has collectively decided that cabinet-level email server protocols are extremely important.

But it now appears even this advantage is slipping away. USA Today reported yesterday that Donald Trump was accused in a lawsuit of “destroying email evidence.”
In 2006, when a judge ordered Donald Trump’s casino operation to hand over several years’ worth of emails, the answer surprised him: The Trump Organization routinely erased emails and had no records from 1996 to 2001. The defendants in a case that Trump brought said this amounted to destruction of evidence, a charge never resolved.

At that time, a Trump IT director testified that until 2001, executives in Trump Tower relied on personal email accounts using dial-up Internet services, despite the fact that Trump had launched a high-speed Internet provider in 1998 and announced he would wire his whole building with it. Another said Trump had no routine process for preserving emails before 2005.
According to transcripts obtained by the newspaper, Judge Jeffrey Streitfeld, who oversaw the case, found Team Trump’s claims about missing emails literally unbelievable.

“If somebody starts to put forth as a fact something that doesn’t make any sense to me and causes me to have a concern about their credibility in the discovery process, that’s not a good direction to go, and I am really having a hard time with this,” the judge said at the time.

Will they believe it? Know it?

History warned he would come for them, too.

Here it is, only it’s something his base will probably not understand or care about, and will ultimately find a way to blame Obama for — since everything is and always will be Obama’s fault, even when he is out of office.

An Urban Institute study found that 24 million fewer people would have health insurance in 2021 if the presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump repeals Obamacare. That’s an increase of 81%. But wait, it gets better.

Who would this impact the most? White people (49% whites, 14% blacks, 26% Hispanics). With a working person in the family (a whopping 66%). So dies the “lazy urban welfare queen” model, once again.

Oh, and it would hit those with a high school education or less at the rate of 66%. Donald Trump’s base, if you’re looking at Republican voters in that group.

    From the study:

81 percent of those losing coverage would be in working families, around 66 percent would have a high school education or less, 40 percent would be young adults, and about 50 percent would be non-Hispanic whites.
Also, 700,000 fewer people would have insurance through their jobs. This is awkward since Republicans have been telling Americans that the super duper insurance they get through work would be destroyed by Obamacare.

    The plot thickens.

Omar Mateen’s employer, private security behemoth G4S, is taking a nosedive in the stock market after the 29-year-old suspect went on the deadliest shooting rampage in recent history, killing at least 49 and injuring 53 others in a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
G4S is currently being thrust into the spotlight because it employed Mateen, but the firm’s murky reputation precedes it. Staffers have been caught beating and abusing detained immigrants, keeping children in solitary confinement, and torturing inmates all over the world.
But one particularly dark stain on the company’s record is its brief dalliance with the U.S. prison in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, known for its use of torture and suspension of due process. And the horror stories out of Guantánamo have provided ideal fodder for the type of jihadist media and propaganda that may have spurred Mateen to open fire in the Orlando club.
