Thanks for the inspiring story, Nerdy. Good morning to all TODers on this historic day–when we see the first female candidate for President win both pledged and super delegates to become the official presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party. As a woman of “a certain age” I never thought such a day would be possible. The level of bigotry in the US can seem overwhelming and depressing, but once in a while, as in 2008, we show our greatness as a people and a nation.
As another woman of “a certain age” this historic day certainly makes me smile. It’s something I never thought I would see. As a bonus, imagine 2 historic presidents in a row!
Another woman of a “certain age” absolutely delighted and thrilled for this historic event……a woman viable presidential candidate. I’ve lived through so much, and have so much respect for women…..and men…..who have fought to move us forward. My little bitty short grandmother was a powerhouse suffragette in New England back in the day. I’m proud to have her in my lineage. I was brought up to believe that the franchise is precious…….and now I get to vote for someone like me for president.
The UN and every civilized country in the world should condemn this child abuse. Erdogan is choosing to live in the 19th century. He has no place in the modern world.
Really have to love your country to do this job – if ever there is a reason to vote for Hillary Clinton – it is that she did this for 4 years. The two S of S’s have given incredible support to PBO.
Thanks LadyH; am just catching up and appreciate you highlighting Josh’s response. I love it! 🙂 In fact I positioned the video at just that spot for those who want to share it by tweeting.
I read that as “Propaganda” rather than “agenda” HA! More truthful that way:) POTUS recognition of Cory was so heartfelt…whatever you do, don’t read the comments on the thread! Al the ditchdigger is an InfoWars mess!
😀 Desertf, I see we had the same thought re ‘agenda’ & propaganda. I should have read down before responding. Ah, well. Enjoy your Tuesday (you are on vacation now, I take it).
Mr. Failed-VP and GOP-presidential-candidate-waiting-in-the-wings Paul Ryan is trying to distract people’s attention from the monster the Republicans have quasi nominated as their candidate. It won’t work! We see you and see through you!
A leading House Republican has unveiled the GOP plan to regulate Wall Street and replace the Dodd-Frank financial reform law.
A new bill introduced by House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) would fundamentally remake the financial regulation landscape, and eradicate major pieces of President Obama’s Wall Street reform law.
Congressional Republicans have considered dozens of smaller bills tweaking the sweeping 2010 law. But Hensarling’s latest proposal marks the broadest, most ambitious effort yet by the GOP to change how Wall Street and Washington interact. Hensarling will detail the bill in remarks delivered to the Economic Club of New York Tuesday morning.
“Simply put, Dodd-Frank has failed. It’s time for a new legislative paradigm in banking and capital markets,” he will say, according to prepared remarks.
Such a plan is a political longshot this Congress, as the White House has repeatedly threatened to veto any changes to Dodd-Frank, and congressional Democrats have shown little interest in revisiting it. But Hensarling’s plan could serve as a blueprint for Republicans after the presidential election, particularly if the party’s nominee, Donald Trump, wins the White House.
But in his speech, Hensarling laid the blame for a lackluster economic recovery squarely at the feet of the new financial rules, which he argued has hamstrung the economy.
“if the party’s nominee, Donald Trump, wins the White House.”
I have reached the point of continual laughter when the media raises the possibility that Trump will win in November. I was the biggest worry wart in 2008, worried slightly less in 2012 & even from afar can say without chance of correction that Trump will NEVER be President of your United States. Hillary Clinton has scattered the glass, not only will she be the Dem nominee, she will be the President of the United States.
I cannot imagine that the US has enough bigots and haters to elect this person jackie. I don’t even believe it will be close. Hillary will win more states than PBO won in 2008.
I was reading yesterday he doesn’t even know how to run a campaign, doesn’t appear to have much funding and the GOP need their money for other races. His school boy bullying has shown the caliber of the GOP pretenders who ran away to cry. Hillary has coped with worse for 20 years – and she is smart enough – as are her major supporters, not to answer in kind. He cannot win at any level.
And slightly off topic – I will not be surprised if he refuses to debate.
OMG. This make no sense. I am more convince then ever that what Jeb Bush said was true. Can you imagine some world leader saying something about Trump and he does something like this? Jeb Bush said Trump need therapy.
Good West Coast morning NW & TOD family. Last night was awesome & inspiring! I went to the Greek Theater for a concert supporting HRC. Hillary was amazing in person, the amphitheater was sold out! John Legend and Ricky Martin had the crowd rocking, Jamie Foxx was hilarious and Stevie Wonder sent us home singing! I got home at 12:30am.
I am so sleepy, but, so happy that I attended the concert 😊
Hi ggail – sounds great – was this the theater that the bernie folks tried to hire with 24 hours notice & got peeved when they had trouble with “traffic plans” and the like. It sounded like a great place & Hillary obviously organised it well ahead of time.
^5 I shivered listening to that again, D-ette (had forgotten about it). Hope there’ll be a copy of that – and other relevant music – in the O-Library. Who knows, the completion of the Obama library might be the incentive to lure me into a visit to Chicago! PBO sure has been instrumental in energizing my travel history. 😀
Bernie’s BS over this primary contest has moved me from being mildy interested in what Da Bern had to say, all the way over to seething, red hot hatred for him and everything he stands for.
This Day In History: Hillary Clinton Concedes To Obama. Is That Subtle Enough?
And she was very sad! And her supporters were very sad! (And some of them were annoying PUMA brats, bless their hearts.) But on June 7, 2008, Hillary Clinton stood tall, suspended her campaign, and endorsed Obama:
I’m so touched by this: my Mother would be 99 today; she has been in heaven for 43 years. Pretty sure she and Prince will be celebrating together, and I know she will be laughing and smiling, and singing!
Second, this entire dynamic speaks volumes about Trump’s management style. Remember, one of the principal, day-to-day responsibilities of the president is overseeing the executive branch of a global superpower. If a candidate can’t lead a functioning campaign team, it tells the public something important about his or her ability to oversee a White House.
.
.
Indeed, the New York Times reported two weeks ago that Team Trump is beset by “paranoia” and “confusion,” fueled by the candidate “setting up competition and infusing tension between his subordinates” on purpose.
If someone could let tehbernedout know much good he can do, and perhaps even balance out some of the harm he has done, (especially to his own sorry self, just he don’t know it!) by behaving maturely and constructively in the next few days and weeks. I’m sure the only person who might be able to penetrate tehbern’s ‘me, me, all about me’ mindset is PBO, the master of gracious human interaction. Otherwise, I suppose bern will go all the way into the oblivion which awaits him, kicking and screaming about the Future He Believes In. Bah.
Hello TOD…I’ve been volunteering for Hillary for the past month in NJ and there has been an ebb and flow in enthusiasm
when talking to people trying to get out the vote. However, like a miracle, there has been such a noticeable change
in enthusiasm ever since Hillary gave her FP speech taking down the clown DT. This past weekend the office was buzzing.
There were 25 Ladies who made the trip from various parts of NY State/City to come to our NJ office to knock on doors
and make phone calls. It was a thing of beauty. Apparently these ladies I am told go all over the country doing this for HRC.
I was there again yesterday and was feeling so positive when I left, only to hear the premature declaration of her winning
last night, which I must confess made me angry at the media. I feared this might depress turnout in NJ today. I was so upset
that I swore I was not going back to vol. today. But then I remembered the wise teachings of our PBO who always tells us
never to give up especially when things seem more difficult. So I will be back in the saddle again today…A big last day for NJ!
I will continue to work my heart out to protect my PBO’s legacy…and only Hillary is capable of carrying on all that he has done.
This OBOT for Hillary is now on her way out to go and vote.
Definitely on the self-preservation part, and – of course – the “Obama” in Obamacare will be out of office in January. (Sob on that last part.) Go, DEMS!
Good day TOD! What a day for everyone here, and particularly for all of us women “of a certain age”! I was shocked at my own response last night when I got home and saw HRC was the presumptive nominee…..I started to cry. It’s been a long time coming. When I think back to these last many decades and the fight for so many things, it is in some ways hard to believe it took this long to have a woman as the nominee in either party. What a glorious day. I came of age when Roe v Wade was decided and was friends with the daughter of the doctor at issue in that case. That was just the beginning of the fight and we still are fighting for equal pay and so many other things. But this is a huge milestone and I will be sharing tonight with my 8 year old grand-daughter who will grow up believing she can be anything including the president of the United States. I hope everyone else here will enjoy this day as much as I intend to. And my heartfelt thanks to everyone here–and especially the men–who have supported this fight and will celebrate this victory.
Just got back from voting for our California trifecta: Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris!
The polling place was not crowded at all, only 3 other people voting. While I was there 2 more people showed up. An Asian Republican and a young NPP who asked for a Democratic ballot. Hope we all don’t cancel each other out!
Good morning TOD folks!
Such an inspiring story!
GM V! Congrats on first!
Thanks Dudette. GM to you too. Got an early start today.

I am imagining it, Debz and it’s thrilling.
We truly are living in historic times and I am so happy to see both historic presidencies unfold as well as be part of it.
Another woman of a “certain age” absolutely delighted and thrilled for this historic event……a woman viable presidential candidate. I’ve lived through so much, and have so much respect for women…..and men…..who have fought to move us forward. I loved your last line, Carolyn..”and now I get to vote for someone like me for president.” Yes!
Congrats vetivera 🙂
Good morning JackieG, NW and TOD 🙂
Reality of #Erdogan’s Turkey ….
The UN and every civilized country in the world should condemn this child abuse. Erdogan is choosing to live in the 19th century. He has no place in the modern world.
Correct, JackieG. No wonder he’s a big fan of Trump’s ….
Good Morning NW and TOD.

G’morning Nerdy & TOD!! Congrats vet24 and Happy Super Tuesday everyone!! 🙂
Thanks Nerdy for posting this wonderful story of courage and hope. Bravo to Ranger Remsburg – may he continue to get better with each passing day! 🙂

Press Secretary Josh Earnest responds (1:05:26 mark) to a question about “Speaker” Ryan’s anti-poverty plan. (Highly Recommended)
6/6/16: Press Briefing
I SO loved Josh’s righteous rant against the constant shenanigans of Paul Ryan. He’s absolutely right.
Thanks LadyH; am just catching up and appreciate you highlighting Josh’s response. I love it! 🙂 In fact I positioned the video at just that spot for those who want to share it by tweeting.

Look for tax cuts, tax cuts and more tax cuts
Morning everyone! BIG DAY!! 🙂 🙂 GO OUT AND VOTE!!
Good Morning, Everyone 🙂
GOP unveils Dodd-Frank alternative

Through the Looking Glass…Look what DT wrote to Jonathan Capehart…WTF!
OMG. This make no sense. I am more convince then ever that what Jeb Bush said was true. Can you imagine some world leader saying something about Trump and he does something like this? Jeb Bush said Trump need therapy.
gm TOD, thank you for the thread and Cory’s story – and how wonderful is PBO – President for all – must be a 3rd term!!!
Good West Coast morning NW & TOD family. Last night was awesome & inspiring! I went to the Greek Theater for a concert supporting HRC. Hillary was amazing in person, the amphitheater was sold out! Sounds Fabulous!! What a great evening:)
Sounds fantastic, GGail. What a terrific experience. Hope you’ll share more of the details.
Can’t wait to hear more! Am so jealous but happy for you, 😀
Hi ggail – sounds great – was this the theater that the bernie folks tried to hire with 24 hours notice & got peeved when they had trouble with “traffic plans” and the like. It sounded like a great place & Hillary obviously organised it well ahead of time.
Wonderful event!

Good grief! I don’t know who upsets me the most, Nina Turner? Che Sandista? and the Young Revolutionaries of the Far Left???
No different than the PUMAS in ’08 …. and no more effective or consequential, either ….
Bernie’s BS over this primary contest has moved me from being mildy interested in what Da Bern had to say, all the way over to seething, red hot hatred for him and everything he stands for.
Nancy Pelosi…endorsed Barack Obama in 2008 and now endorses Hillary Clinton…..Outstanding!!!!

No idea as to where this comes from – a guess?
Friday is traditional news dump day. Plus Ali’s funeral may suck up all the air, then Bernie gets the weekend to decompress after conceding.
Or maybe Matt has an actual scoop and he’s just not saying.
Thanks Dudette – missed your message last night due to sleep time 🙂
we will see if he does!!
😆
I’m so touched by this: my Mother would be 99 today; she has been in heaven for 43 years. Pretty sure she and Prince will be celebrating together, and I know she will be laughing and smiling, and singing!

Ha! There’s no disavowing now Mr. Ryan…you ENDORSED Trump for President..now you OWN this, and every single racist comment that spews from his mouth.
Agree with this HF. This time for disavowing was before Ryan sold his soul to the devil. Now it’s lost and so is he.
🙂
Smart move, One Speechwriter for both presumptive DEM Pres and VP nominees 🙂
I wouldn’t mind seeing Barney Frank somewhere in the Clinton administration, because sometimes his wiseassery really comes in handy.
And thank you for asking, Bob. 🙂
I so dearly hope I can put BS out of my mind by the end of the week, but this is an excellent post on why BS’ “rationale” will not work:

Alas, I have seen literally no grace in BS throughout this campaign. My expectations are very low. I hope I’m wrong.

Sorry in advance that this is my first comment on such a lovely blog today, but: Fuck them.
matter of self preservation…the Senate is in play for the DEMS…so they are trying to cut loose what they can….but as you say so clealyr F them… 😀
Definitely on the self-preservation part, and – of course – the “Obama” in Obamacare will be out of office in January. (Sob on that last part.) Go, DEMS!
They should vote on Garland if they want to attempt to keep the Senate.
