Morning all. I’m pretty certain President Obama will endorse Hillary Clinton on June 8, after she clinches the nomination on June 7. He will speak to his coalition and give us his marching orders. We have to be certain that people are not just disgusted by DT’s bigotry, but they actually register to vote and get to the polls. This is especially true among Hispanics who sometimes don’t recognize the power they have with their vote. I’m excited that we will be making history tomorrow night with the first female presidential nominee of a major party, just as we made history in 2008. The Democratic Party may have its flaws, its creaks and its frustrations, but at least we embrace a changing world and move forward.

Good Morning NW and TOD. Here is a good article:

CRAIG DOLCH: PRESIDENT OBAMA COULD GOLF ANYWHERE; HE CHOOSES THE FLORIDIAN

…Floridian was closed for the summer, as of Wednesday, cutting down on the drama and the security. …

Floridian members, like most country club members, are used to getting their way. That explains why last year, when they were told not to take pictures of the president at their club, some members did so, anyway.

When they got home, those pictures became dark, empty screens. … Big brother is watching. …

    Read the rest here: http://www.tcpalm.com/news/special/obama/craig-dolch-president-obama-could-golf-anywhere-he-chooses-the-floridian-34796d49-1d36-4968-e053-010-381881601.html

            You are correct 99

          • June 6, 2016 at 1:33 pm

You got it! Florida was the winter haven for the New York Jewish community. Mostly business owners, they flew south after Hanukkah and returned to New York around Passover. The Protestants, upon retirement, just packed up and moved south, lock, stock, and barrell.

Morning TOD. Congrats on 1st Grace. Yes, 99, most people leave town, or just stay in air conditioning. Also, it is too hot to play, and it can ruin the course. So best to close it and not have to recondition the entire course every year.

Too bad I work in a district that is so Republican I have little freedom in the classroom or parents are all over me. To make it worse, they’re Tea Party people and conspiracy theorists too. Very depressing sometimes, but I do my bit to educate them on basic civics, the value of immigration, and the need to support their opinions with facts (those pesky things).

Trump pretending he does not even know who Katy Tur is ? lol…lol…

TRUMP: Well you have to go and fight controversy. You can’t let people put their spin on it. I watched somebody from NBC, person, Katy Tur, she knows nothing about my campaign. She’s said things about my campaign like she’s an expert. We don’t even let her in. We don’t talk to her, we don’t let people talk to her because she’s not a very good reporter. So we don’t let people talk and I watch so-called people talking about my campaign that really don’t know much about it. You people know more about my campaign than almost anybody, OK? But maybe you should go out and talk, you’ll make a fortune. But the fact is that people talk about my campaign. We don’t even allow them in.

    Muhammed Ali: “I Am America”
    By Nancy LeTourneau

Many have noted that, on the occasion of Muhammed Ali’s death on Saturday, the statement released by Barack and Michelle Obama doesn’t read like a press release from the White House – but was probably written by the President himself. This is the line that made all of the headlines: “Muhammad Ali shook up the world. And the world is better for it. We are all better for it.” But there was another part that grabbed my attention. It goes directly to Ali’s impact as a Black man in America.

“I am America,” he once declared. “I am the part you won’t recognize. But get used to me – black, confident, cocky; my name, not yours; my religion, not yours; my goals, my own. Get used to me.”

That’s the Ali I came to know as I came of age – not just as skilled a poet on the mic as he was a fighter in the ring, but a man who fought for what was right. A man who fought for us. He stood with King and Mandela; stood up when it was hard; spoke out when others wouldn’t. His fight outside the ring would cost him his title and his public standing. It would earn him enemies on the left and the right, make him reviled, and nearly send him to jail. But Ali stood his ground. And his victory helped us get used to the America we recognize today.

    ………………………..

That’s why I found the quote chosen by President Obama to be so powerful. Rather than an attempt to transcend race, Muhammad Ali demanded to be recognized for who he was.

The confident (cocky) Black man has always been the biggest threat to racism. No one exemplified that more than Muhammed Ali. He seriously threatened most white people with statements like the one Obama quoted (I know, I was living in the South at the time).

there was a time when the date of potential conclusion of the Dem primary seemed too far away.

now that that date is here and we are ready to move on to the general election.

hoping the voter-registration drives continue with more rigor => we can’t GOTV if people did not register in time in the first place.

before we know it, Nov will be here and the vote will occur. Hope the world can breathe again after this election cycle which was full of nonsense

Anybody know who Kamala Harris is doing in the polls?

    • June 6, 2016 at 12:39 pm

She’s doing very well. I expect her to win. We have a fairly new system here now where it’s the top to vote getters who battle it out in Nov. So it will most likely be her vs Loretta Sanchez. No Republican to battle!

The new system says if no one candidate receives 51% or more of the votes cast then there will be a runoff of the top 2 vote getters in November. So we can only pray that KH gets 51% or more of the vote, and then it is an immediate win for her. But, as you stated, it will probably be a runoff betweeh KH and LS in November.
