Surprise, Surprise. Trump’s Been Lying About His Opposition To Cutting Social Security
    By Heather

It should come as a shock to no one that Trump’s been saying one thing to his supporters on the campaign trail, while telling the Zombie-Eyed Granny-Starver from Wisconsin something else in private.

It seems someone who doesn’t care for Trump was leaking like a sieve following his meeting earlier this month with House Speaker Paul Ryan: Trump Supports Cutting Social Security From A ‘Moral Standpoint:’ Report:

Donald Trump supposedly told House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) he supports cutting Social Security but will not admit it publicly because it would hurt his election chances, according to a report in Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee reportedly made the comments during a May 12 meeting with Ryan aimed at mending ties between the two top Republican leaders, Bloomberg reported, citing an unnamed source who was in the room. (Ryan has yet to endorse Trump.)

“From a moral standpoint, I believe in it,” Trump said of cutting Social Security. “But you also have to get elected. And there’s no way a Republican is going to beat a Democrat when the Republican is saying, ‘We’re going to cut your Social Security’ and the Democrat is saying, ‘We’re going to keep it and give you more.’ ”

What a loud resounding response to the President’s arrival on the platform…this always belies that notion that the President is not beloved…

Such heart-wrenching day for the Biden Family and so many more who have lost soldiers and veterans this year. May peace be with you.

      GM Judith.

As heartbreaking an anniversary today is for the Bidens, in a cosmic way it’s fitting that this heartwrenching anniversary happens on Memorial Day.

The country is one in offering solace to the Bidens, who have given so much to this country, along with all other fallen veterans.

Watching PBO at Arlington Memorial, where he is lovingly acknowledging recent fallen heroes.

Hope Joe Biden, who has offered his heartfelt condolences and empathy to those who have stunningly lost loved ones, the rock of their lives, and family accept our gratitude and solace on this solemn occasion.

The President…telling the stories of the Fallen….it is what he does sowell…telling stories of Americans….we can see ourselves in them…

I’m glad Michelle said these words. If young (and old) people around this country could model themselves after President Obama and “go high when others go low,” we would we able to move forward as a community with common interests, rather than snipe at and undermine each other from partisan camps.
If the Republican Party had chosen to make an effort, or at least to do their job in a spirit of good will, they would have reaped the benefit ten fold. They could have honestly shared in our country’s prosperity, taken pride in renewed infrastructure, and build themselves a constructive role in a changing world. Instead, they chose to become relics of the past, embracing obstructionism and racism and rejecting the reality of change in the 21rst century. Now they have a candidate who is so twisted by his own amorality that there are no limits to the depths of deceit and shamefulness he’ll sink. He is their perfect representative–blind, arrogant and utterly unprepared for leadership in the real world.

Our president, once again making it plain, making it personal, and pulling all of us into the experience and giving us a path forward in how to truly honor those who have given their all. I was a bit disgusted this morning when I opened my email and it was full of so-called Memorial Day sales. I thought of how all of our most important observances have become so commercialized that the days havd lost their meanings for so many Americans. This ceremony and the president’s words, while bringing ears to my eyes, have also healed me and strengthened my resolve to rise to the occasion

So that means his approval rating must be above 55%, I don’t think Gallup wants to totally demoralize the haters.

    Hello TOD

Good to hear that Chips is devoting her time to Mama Chips. A special thank you to NW for being here to keep the blog up to date in Ms. Chips absences. Another thank you to everyone here who continues to share and comment to keep us all informed.

I realized a few years ago that I am what is considered a Dove when it come to War. I believe strongly in diplomacy which is just another reason why I love President Obama and his great team that works tirelessly to keep us safe and to bring about peace throughout the world. That Iran Deal IMO will go down in history as a master stroke of genius. I will always be grateful to him for trying everything within his power to keep the peace even when the parties that should be grateful for his efforts aren’t. I’m looking at you Netanyahu.

With that said, today I honor all who gave their lives in defense of this and other countries. #MemorialDay2016

Meet the First Black Valedictorian at the World’s First School of Dentistry
    By Philip Lewis
    May 27, 2016

Established in 1840 as the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, the University of Maryland School of Dentistry is known as the first dental college in the world. This past week, the school again made history when it graduated the first black valedictorian in its 176-year existence.

As graduation approached, Tera Poole knew she was among the top five students in her class, but she didn’t know where exactly she ranked. When she opened up the graduation program, Poole saw her name at the top as the class valedictorian. She didn’t have much time to celebrate, however: The young dental student from Ohio gave the commencement speech shortly thereafter.

“Everything, even being valedictorian was a surprise to me,” Poole said in an interview.

    ……………………………..

Andrea Morgan, a recruitment coordinator at the University of Maryland’s School of Dentistry, was pleased to deliver the good news to Poole, but recalled the sobering history of the dental school.

“The sad part is that the first African-American person didn’t graduate from our dental school until 1972,” Morgan said in a phone interview. “It took from 1840 to 1968 for a black person to come and graduate. That’s my lifetime.”
