Yes, Dudette, Pres Obama a beloved leader. Not many leaders have the courage to deliberately seek peace (when it seems easier to retaliate to show your *strength*). PBO has been a terrific, and needed, model for real forward-moving leadership!

Thanks for this reminder in PBO’s own words, Ms NW.

Sometimes I weep when I imagine how much farther ahead the entire world would be in all spectrums, if the dark side had not vowed to stand in his way. Despite them, and with us alongside, he has shine masterful and compassion concern for all life forms. ❤

      • May 28, 2016 at 5:57 pm

There are times I feel the same way, MP, but then I think how amazing that Barack Obama has accomplished as much as he has, so much more than anyone else I can think of, in the face of such opposition. As we look back now his long term strategy becomes clearer, and it will continue to clarify as time lends more perspective. Once again with his choice of Merrick Garland for a Supreme Court he displays his “conciliation as ruthless strategy” thinking. The fact that there is nothing to object to in this exceptionally qualified candidate exposes the GOP refusal to vote for the dirty power play that it is. I believe this will help the Democrats in November. What’s more, not only has he run a scandal free administration, we can be secure in the knowledge that no great scandals will come to light after he leaves office. He will just become greater as time goes on. We are blest to be eye witnesses to this presidency and to have the intelligence and human decency to recognize it.

The GOP in action – over 2 YEARS awaiting confirmation

“In February 2014, President Obama tapped Butts to be the U.S. Ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas; as she awaited a recalcitrant Republican-led Senate confirmation, she also served as a U.S. Representative to the General Assembly of the United Nations. ”

Yet the useless US media blames the President for the “gridlock” and lets Bernie and Trump take over 99.9% of the “news”

      • May 28, 2016 at 6:22 pm

Waiting for 2 years – talented and critical functions needlessly put on hold – the McConnell legacy.
And it doesn’t seem right to comment on someone’s appearance usually:
But gosh, Cassandra was incredibly beautiful.

So, they used aerial fire bombs in the destruction of “Black Wall Street…”

“The ten-page manuscript is typewritten, on yellowed legal paper, and folded in thirds. But the words, an eyewitness account of the May 31, 1921, racial massacre that destroyed what was known as Tulsa, Oklahoma’s “Black Wall Street,” are searing.

“I could see planes circling in mid-air. They grew in number and hummed, darted and dipped low. I could hear something like hail falling upon the top of my office building. Down East Archer, I saw the old Mid-Way hotel on fire, burning from its top, and then another and another and another building began to burn from their top,” wrote Buck Colbert Franklin (1879-1960).”

Seriously. Hard to believe I once thought this guy might be okay. Now all I wanna say is “Fuck Bernie!” This is why I fully appreciate the long primary process. It allows time for the candidates’ character and suitability (or lack thereof) to be fully revealed.

        • May 28, 2016 at 6:35 pm

He has a faux purity gimmick going on, and a total misplaced sense of self. I hope Dems have something good in store for him after his ugly display.

        • May 28, 2016 at 6:36 pm

Yep, I have often thought that a shorter election season ala the U.K. would be better, but the long process really does reveal character and administrative abilities so that they can be measured against the needs of the job.

I think I finally got it; Bernie wants to go to war with the Democratic Party. With the appointment of Dr. Cornel West to the Democratic Platform Committee, it sends a clear message that Sanders isn’t taking any prisoners. Bernie wants it all or he’s willing to destroy the entire Democratic Party if he doesn’t get it all. But what he fails to understand is that there are some bridges that once you burn them, they cannot be repaired or replaced. I’m sure someone from the White House has reached out and spoken to Bernie Sanders about the route he’s taking, and I don’t think he listened. Bernie Sanders has pushed all his chips to the middle of the table.

Dear Heavens the media is insane – these are two well known LONG TIME members of the democratic party – they may support Sec Clinton but I don’t think that is their role in life, nor their reason for being on the committee. The US politicial media is a pawn to the GOP & Donald Trump.

Bob Dole of the ” Family Values ” Party thinks Hillary Clinton ” has to much baggage “. Therefore he is supporting Trump, the three times married adulterer who took his mistress on a family Christmas vacation to Aspen where the mistress confronted Ivanka face to face. He also just recommended three times married Newt Gingrich who carried on an affair with a Congressional staffer when he was Speaker of the House to be Trump’s VP.

The Republican Party has no mirrors.

    • May 28, 2016 at 6:16 pm

The Republican Party is a bunch of lying racists hypocrites. The only thing that matter to them is to put a white man back in that White House, they don’t care one bit what kind of man he is.

      • May 28, 2016 at 6:28 pm

This same family values party have no problem with Melania Trump, you know the nude model, but they hate Michelle Obama, the Princeton Harvard graduated lawyer, who wasn’t born with riches, who didn’t marry riches.

Well, I AM surprised. I thought Bob Dole was one of the few who still had some decency. And he’s not on a ballot, doesn’t have to fear the extremist base.

On top of it, endorses Newt for VP ? Maybe he’s senile…

      • May 28, 2016 at 7:29 pm

prettyfoot58, I didn’t either, till I watch it being done the last seven and a half years by the right wing Republicans. They even attack Malia and Sasha, when it was announced that Malia was attending Harvard, Fox had to shut down it’s comment sections because of the racists things said about Malia. I never said anything disrespecting about Laura Bush or the Bush twins, even when they were running around getting drunk. But show me that kind of respect for Michelle and her daughters from the right. And then some people have the nerve to talk about Melania making the First Lady great again.

        • May 28, 2016 at 7:33 pm

Before Michelle Obama move into the White House till this day, all the right wing Republicans have done is attack disrespect Michelle Obama..

Great idea! And let the “media” continue to interview all those folks he cheated … I’ve seen a few and they are MAD. And I think I recall there are tens of thousands of dollars involved per individual – and maybe more.

Of course, was just thinking … first Trump says biased things against the judge, then the judge rules against him, Trump’s lawyers will probably be kept busy appealing “because the judge was biased” against Trump. Even all of us know “how he rolls,” at this point.

He’s totally transparent, and still the media can’t see through him – or, rather, choose not to.

Hello TOD & a Happy Memorial weekend to all. Wanted to tell you that I have been robo called twice, yesterday and today buy Trump!! WTF?? Yesterday I just hung up when I heard the Trump name… today I listened to the whole call. It’s by a pac called “The Great America” pac. Not kidding. Anyhow, too sickening.. and cannot understand how they even have my number to call as I have always been a registered Democrat and have always voted strictly democrat.

Regardless of which party – if I ever get a Robo call I ring my local candidate for that party & tell them they just lost my vote. Robo calls to me are the height of ignorance and rudeness & NO-ONE should ever use them. If you are too scared/ashamed/ignorant/stupid to talk to someone on the other end then don’t make the call.
