It is unfathomable that I have to deal with a prick that takes a week just to reply to my email. Do people not understand deadlines or that time sensitive material is marked time sensitive for a goddamn reason? Four more fucking years and I can retire. And to make matters worse, last night I purchased two tickets to see the X-Men this weekend and I’m hearing that it’s not a good movie. Why have the forces of good aligned against me, have I not genuflected enough before the gods not to be protected from these indignities?

Morning, Don…let me just say, sometimes life just happens. When these annoying and ridiculous things happen to me I just know for a fact that karma will take care of that mess. Breathe. It will all work out the way it should. Don’t give the pricks all the power:) Promise your day will get better! The last day of school for us…(not for teachers, but the kids) Yesterday we had our class party and included the other 2 fifth grade classes….by the time it was over I wanted to go sit in my car, rock back and forth, and suck my thumb. I was having a moment. I’m here to laugh about it and tell you today….see? All good! šŸ™‚

Two other people are European Union officials. They had a very nice Japanese dinner together & lasted till late at night.
PBO is going to Hiroshima tomorrow afternoon (very early morning in US – Japan is 13 hours ahead).
The Japanese are very happy about this visit (85% approval according to the Asahi Newspaper).
The Okinawa incident was very unfortunate.
I felt very sorry for PBO to have to deal with it .The American base in Okinawa is another piece of history coming from WWII.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to tomorrow although I won’t be able to be there in the Peace Park ( I live in England).

Here’s How Clinton Will Take On Trump
    By Nancy LeTourneau

There is a lot of chatter going on right now about how Hillary Clinton will take on Donald Trump. Of course, everyone has an opinion on that. Phillip Rucker identifies the challenge.

Plotting a general election strategy against Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton’s advisers joke that their challenge feels like Lucille Ball’s in the famed chocolate factory episode of ā€œI Love Lucy.ā€
As truffles fly down a conveyor belt, Lucy frantically tries to wrap each one before they pass. Falling behind, she stuffs some under her hat, down her blouse and in her mouth. For the Clinton campaign, the conveyor belt is Trump’s mouth and Twitter feed — and the chocolates are his inflammatory statements.

Rucker goes on to describe the campaign’s overall message:

Clinton’s aides say they have settled on the big story they want to tell about Trump: He is a business fraud who has cheated working people for his own gain, and his ideas, temperament and moves to marginalize people by race, gender and creed make him simply unacceptable as commander in chief.
ā€œOur thesis is that this isn’t just a difference in world views akin to, say, a policy debate between John McCain and Barack Obama in 2008. This is somebody who’s uniquely dangerous and disqualified,ā€ said Brian Fallon, Clinton’s national press secretary.

Good morning, TOD! Moving slow; must leave to see the witch doctors in a few.

Interesting encounter with a Bernbot friend last evening. Cliff notes version:

    1. Around April 10, friend posts long screed on FB regarding ACA, IRS, she’s getting screwed and PBO doesn’t care… Bottom line, she didn’t receive her 1095A from the exchange and they couldn’t find her in the system.

    2. As she’s paid her premiums AND the insurance company HAS received the subsidy from ACA, I recommended that she contact our congresscritter for assistance with getting the 1095A.

    3. On April 15, she posts another long screed, adding her displeasure with lack of response from congresscritter. I called congresscritter’s office, said she was a mutual constituent, outlined her problem, provided her contact info. Turns out, she had twice called the critter’s office, left msg ranting about he situation, HOWEVER, failed to leave contact info.

    4. After intervention, she received form in about 10 days.

    5. Last week, she posted another screed. 2015 vs 2014 income the same; 2015 premium double 2014 (she changed plans); 2014 received refund; 2015, owes IRS $49. I offered to review her return.

    6. Return as prepared was correct, however, incomplete. She’s a part-time student and her preparer HAD NOT applied any education credits. She didn’t recall receiving 1098T from her college. We guesstimated the amount she’s paid for education, pending receipt of the 1098T. Looks like she’s due a refund in the $700 range…

    7. Best I can tell on the ACA, her new exchange plan (which she selected) costs more, and based on income, the exchange overpaid on the subsidy and they are recouping the overpayment. In 2014, they overpaid/recouped $16; 2015 they overpaid/recouped $725. During open season, she’ll need to really review plans and financial implications BEFORE making a selection.

    8. She “loves” Bernie and is so disappointed that I don’t. She felt if “I took the time to get to know him…” My response was “he’s been in DC 30 years, not and outsider, not my first rodeo, been engaged in civics for more than 50 years.” Said we’ll talk about processes AFTER the race is over.

    9. She says she received email asking if she’d like to be a delegate at DNCPhilly. We both found that strange as PA delegates are elected by voters durning primary.

    10. She will vote for Hillary IF BERNIE doesn’t win, however, she’s holding out hope…

Off to witch doctor. Read you later…

    I just can’t.

    And, I say, without equivocation,

that, if this had come from then Senator Obama’s ā€˜team’…..

Or if anyone from Hillary’s team had said this about her…

it’d be front and center on every newscast.

There are presidential duties Trump ā€˜doesn’t want to do’
    05/26/16 10:45 AM
    By Steve Benen

Paul Manafort, a controversial Republican lobbyist, joined Donald Trump’s team in late March, and at least initially, his task was to help oversee delegate recruiting. It wasn’t long, however, before Manafort worked his way up to effectively running the entire operation: less than two months after joining the campaign, he’s now Trump’s campaign chairman and chief strategist.

Yesterday, Manafort sat down with the Huffington Post’s Howard Fineman for a fairly long interview, and while the two covered quite a bit of ground, there was one exchange in particular that stood out for me.

The vice presidential pick will also be part of the process of proving he’s ready for the White House, Manafort said.

ā€œHe needs an experienced person to do the part of the job he doesn’t want to do. He seems himself more as the chairman of the board, than even the CEO, let alone the COO.ā€

Team Trump’s ā€˜seething mosh pit’ forces key staffer out
    05/26/16 12:30 PM
    By Steve Benen

Just six weeks ago, Donald Trump’s campaign announced an important new hire: it was bringing on Rick Wiley, Scott Walker’s former campaign manager, to serve as Trump’s national political director. That was April; this is May.

Trump National Political Director Rick Wiley is no longer with the team, the campaign confirmed in a statement late Wednesday night. When asked if Wiley resigned or was fired, spokeswoman Hope Hicks said that the ā€œstatement stands alone.ā€

A Trump campaign source with knowledge of the decision tells NBC News that Wiley was largely uncommunicative with field staff that were in place long before he was hired. ā€œHe never really got the read for this campaign,ā€ the source said, referencing the campaign’s culture.

By all accounts, Team Trump is divided into two warring factions: a contingent that sides with Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski and another backing Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort.

A source close to the campaign told NBC News that the Riley announcement is ā€œa win for Corey.ā€

As a rule, it’s tough to care about which faction is up or down on any given day, but there is something important about the larger dynamic. The Huffington Post’s Howard Fineman, a veteran political reporter who’s seen a lot of campaigns come and go, yesterday described ā€œTrumpWorldā€ as ā€œa seething mosh pit of ambitious egos.ā€

Many difficult aspects in this part of the trip to Japan. Seems to be a situation only PBO could handle with the diplomacy required as part of the job of president *note to Trump.

      GA vetivera24.

The unfortunate rape/murder of a young Okinawan woman allegedly by US ex-Marine has apparently inflamed Japan — a place with very low crime rates (but when crime/murders do occur, they tend to be spectacularly gruesome).

Absolutely hate how MSM report as if PBO could have done something to prevent this tragedy.

Posted this over the weekend, but this is from a survivor of the 1945 atomic blasts:

      • 122 arapaho415
        May 26, 2016 at 3:20 pm

Hope I’m awake for PBO’s trip to Hiroshima site, but have a feeling I won’t be 😦

Very moving that survivors of that horrific event will be in attendance. From the article:
“At least three atomic bomb survivors will attend an event in Hiroshima on Friday when President Barack Obama becomes the first incumbent U.S. leader to visit the site of the world’s first atomic bombing, Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported.”

      • May 26, 2016 at 3:33 pm

I saw the report and heard about it on the news. The G7 is not something PBO could avoid nor could he avoid having to deal with this tragedy. I do appreciate how he handled the situation with the string reassurance that the perpetrator would be held accountable. I can’t imagine Trump having one ounce of the same diplomatic demeanour. Both stories were painful reminders of the things the world needs to abolish. Nuclear weapons and violence against women. Thanks for your reporting on this too.
