Thanks Dudette. I have been asking this same question. Bernie is drawing large crowds, yet HRC is ahead of him in popular votes.

My old man would make my brother and I watch 60 minutes religiously every Sunday. He even made us watch all the Sunday news talk shows; even to this day I reflexively watch the Sunday news talk shows.

Same thing in our house. When we were in the States, Sunday night meant: 60 Minutes, then The Ed Sullivan Show, then lights out.

Wow, I guess I dated myself. 😄Host of variety show. Introduced The Beatles, The Supremes, The Jackson 5 and other legendary performers to US audience.

Letterman used to talk about how proud he was to have his show in the Ed Sullivan theater.

“The Ed Sullivan Show is especially known to the World War II and baby boomer generations for introducing acts and airing breakthrough performances by popular 1950s and 1960s musicians such as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Supremes, The Dave Clark Five, The Beach Boys, The Jackson 5, Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, The Mamas & the Papas, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Herman’s Hermits, The Doors, and The Band…”

I’ve heard of the Jackson Fifths, I think that’s their name. I think of the boy’s names is Tito if I’m not mistaken correct.

Morning OBOTS. Congratulations, COS. Let’s do what we can to support GOTV for Hillary in NJ and CA. Time to shut the door on delusional Bernie and his Bros.

    • May 19, 2016 at 1:15 pm

Time to call out our own Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley for enabling this incitement of hate speech and violence. As the only Senator now backing Bernie, Jeff Merkley is basically now helping Donald Trump.

Who’s going to tell Bernie when to pack it in, surely someone in his camp hasn’t lost all touch with reality. The nomination can’t be his end-game because that ship has sailed already. At this point in time Bernie Sanders seems no more saner than Colonel Kurtz from “Apocalypse Now.”

    • 23 Judith Fardig
      May 19, 2016 at 1:14 pm

I’m hoping Senator Merkley will step up and coach Bernie and his rabid supporters toward reality.

      • May 19, 2016 at 1:18 pm

Merkley is silent, enabling Bernie to continue to incite hate speech and violence against Dems. See my comment upstream. Merkley should apologize to Senator Boxer for what happened in NV.

Bill, I called Senator Merkley’s DC office and encourage you to do the same. They said he was interviewed about 5 times in the last few days and stated every time his disapproval of scorched-earth tactics. Here’s a quote from Greg Sargent, though it does not specifically address the abhorrent behavior in Nevada.

I asked him whether Sanders should keep fighting for super-delegates in June, after losing the pledged delegate count and popular vote.
“When a nominee wins a majority of both those categories, it is time for us to come together, link arms and go forward,” Merkley said. “It would be inconsistent, given the commentary on super-delegates, to depend on super-delegates to turn over those first two categories of evaluating party members’ support.”
Asked if he would support Sanders’s decision, under these conditions, to keep the battle going to the convention floor, Merkley said: “Absolutely not.”

      May 19, 2016 at 1:15 pm

He’s not gonna pack it in until Hillary has officially won the nomination & he has squeezed every dime he can get out of his supporters. It won’t be long now though.

      • May 19, 2016 at 1:19 pm

June 7th. Winning Puerto Rico on the 4th and a big victory in NJ will put her over the top. CA and NM will be the frosting on the cake.

Exactly! So need to waste energy calling for him to drop out. Let people vote. Let the delegates be counted. It’ll all be over soon.

The best way to undercut Bernie’s influence and unite the Dem party would be to announce early, before the CA primary, Elizabeth Warren as VP running mate. Have her campaign with Hillary in CA. That would eliminate the extortion game that Bernie is trying to play of threatening to burn down the house and give the election to Trump

Not sure two women instead of a woman and man on ticket is more electable when we are having such difficulty getting one of the most experienced candidates ever to run elected.

    • 41 Dudette
      May 19, 2016 at 2:03 pm

No No No! We need her in that Senate Seat until we win back the majority. GOP governor will appoint her replacement if she leaves.

There are plenty of other great potential picks who will appeal to a lot of Dems.

I think Warren needs to just endorse Hillary right now instead…

      • 44 57andfemale
        May 19, 2016 at 3:16 pm

Unless BS goes even more off the rails, Warren won’t endorse until the primaries are over. She and BS share many of the same supporters. They almost crucified her because she didn’t endorse before the MA primary (which HRC won). She has been a lionness against Trump already, so she’s trying to do positive things instead of crawling into this mess.

I do think there would be a line that BS could cross that would make her endorse HRC before the primaries are over. At the rate he’s going, there’s barely any difference between him, Trump and the GOP.

    • May 19, 2016 at 3:07 pm

For me, that would feel impulsive and presumptuous. And I think it also plays into Bernie’s hands and the allegations of his supporters. One thing I see in PBO that I admire greatly is he never lets his opposition throw him off his game. According to some polls I’m seeing, HRC will win CA. There’s a couple more weeks of this dreck and then it will be done.

      • 46 Dudette
        May 20, 2016 at 1:35 am

Puerto Rico primary is June 5 (60 delegates). NJ (126 delegates) primary is the same night as CA (475 delegates) so HRC will cross the delegate threshold for nomination before CA polls close. But CA will be icing on the cake. 😄

      May 19, 2016 at 3:11 pm

Warren is not endorsing until the primaries are over. Two women on the ticket is risky, but a possibility. And Warren doesn’t want to be VP. Here’s the thing: any state with a GOP governor will appoint a GOP for the Senate seat. That takes out Sherrod Brown, too.
