Morning chips, Bob and early risers. We were expecting someone to install a new shower door at noon today, but he’s here at 8 am. I had a few very choice words I did not say aloud. Guess it’s better than expecting someone at noon and having them come at four. Hope everyone else has a good day. We are projected to have the sun come out next Sunday just to remind us all what it looks like.

I am going to look for a rocking chair like PBO’s on November 9 when we have either saved the world with our votes or doomed ourselves. Either way–we’re going to need a long, slow rock in a comfy chair.

If you hear someone tell you that Bernie still has a path to the nomination, please remember this: Hillary is just 144 delegates short of the nomination and she has the favorable states of California, NJ, Puerto Rico and DC ahead of her. Bernie is 914 delegates behind and will see the last of his favorable states next Tuesday. We’ll see the end of this excruciating process on or around June 9 when even the BS leaning media and the most love blind of his supporters will have to acknowledge HRC as our nominee. If Bernie chooses to mess up the Dem Convention, he will not only have to deal with Ed Rendell, he will feel wrath of Chuck Schumer in his committee assignments when he gets back to his day job in the Senate. Both of these men play for keeps.

Pf, from what I heard yesterday, Schumer is ruthless. If Bernie does anything to embarrass the Dems in Philadelphia, Schumer will exact his revenge on the Socialist senator from Vermont. Plus Bernie will have a huge debt when this is all over and he’s going to have to rely on the Dem establishment that he’s reviled to bale him out.

Schumer wouldn’t be my choice, that’s for sure, but I doubt there’s anything that can be done about it.

Of the myriad of battles ahead of us, I’m not going to engage on this one. Durbin would have been better and Schumer can sound GOP-lite, but it’s his turn and that’s how it works.

Thanks for the delegate update (haven’t been paying too much attention because this election has me appalled — it is truly nauseating to see/hear NOTHING BUT TRUMP and Sanders online and on the radio).

Wikipedia says that CA has 475 pledged delegates, 548 total delegates. If HRC hasn’t wrapped up by Jun 7, hard to believe that CA’s proportional allocation of delegates won’t put HRC over the top (despite White Power Status Quo [WPSQ] surrogates like Susan Saradon, etc.).

Morning sad….. He would have been the best President:(

Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday that he intended to enter the 2016 presidential race but his son’s death changed his plans. “It’s an awful thing to say—I think I would have been the best president” out of the current contenders, he told Good Morning America. When Biden’s son Beau died last May after a long battle with brain cancer, the VP decided against a run and has said it was the right choice for his family. “No one should ever seek the presidency unless they’re able to devote their whole heart and soul and passion into just doing that,” he said. “And, Beau was my soul. I just wasn’t ready to be able to do that. But, so, my one regret is my Beau’s not here. I don’t have any other regrets.”

And by the way…that “global warming thing and it being man made…it’s a hoax! OMG. Follow the $$$

The global concentration of carbon dioxide is close to never again reaching less than 400 parts per million, a symbolic milestone that scientists warn is “irreversible.” A benchmark atmospheric measuring station in Australia is close to hitting the key level for the first time, and once it does, it will never be able to reach a lower measurement, climate experts say. “We’re going into very new territory… It’s like lying in bed with your electric blanket set to three. You jack it up to seven—you don’t get hot right away but you do get hot. And that’s what we’re doing…” said James Butler, director of the global monitoring division at the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. “There’s an answer to dealing with this and that’s to stop burning fossil fuels.”

This is the kind of stuff that White Parents just don’t have to deal with.

Every parent of a Black child knows that the day will come, when their child is disrespected because of their mere existence. The thing is, they don’t know WHEN it is coming. They just know that it WILL come.

Messenger: Canceled ballgame teaches 5-year-olds about Delmar Divide
By Tony Messenger St. Louis Post-Dispatch

But the caller, one of the moms from the Mary Queen of Peace team, said there was a problem. She and some of the other Webster Groves parents, she said, were afraid to play at Metcalfe Park in University City because they feared the area was rife with crime and violence.

For Claire LeGrand, who was standing next to her husband during the phone call, this was a Delmar Divide moment.

Metcalfe Park is just a couple of blocks north of Delmar Boulevard, the east-west traffic way that has long divided St. Louis by race, literally, if not metaphorically, with blacks to the north, and whites to the south.

The park where the children from Our Lady of Lourdes play their baseball games is north of the Loop, not far from the restaurants Blueberry Hill and Cicero’s.

It is on the side of town that is closer to Wellston than it is Clayton. It is in a place where, this caller told a dumbfounded coach, some people from Webster Groves simply don’t want to take their children.

“We were perplexed,” Claire LeGrand told me. “It is such a lovely park. It is where we play all of our games. We asked our visitors, could this woman really be saying what we think she was saying?”

Told that the team from Mary Queen of Peace wouldn’t be there, the Our Lady of Lourdes coach canceled the game. Needless to say, the children, who had suffered through early season rainouts and were looking forward to a beautiful sunny day for baseball, were disappointed.

“One of the assistant coach’s sons cried himself to sleep,” Claire LeGrand said.

She decided to channel her anger over the unnecessary fear into a Facebook post that didn’t hold back many punches.

“Dear Parents of the Mary Queen of Peace Kindergarten Baseball Team,” LeGrand wrote. “Congratulations on doing life wrong. You canceled our boys’ baseball game out of ignorance and fear. You successfully all got together in carpool pickup line this afternoon, clutched your pearls, and proclaimed that many of you ‘were uncomfortable with the location’ of our home field … What did you think might happen? That your darling boys would have to dodge bullets while they round the bases? That they gasp might see people who don’t look exactly like they do? … So instead of enjoying the hilarity that is kindergarten baseball on a gorgeous Saturday in May, your kids will be sitting on the couch watching SpongeBob, having their brains rotted out. Enjoy your day behind your closed doors, in your own neighborhood, with your backwards … racist attitudes.

You’re going to love this: BS won the NE caucus months ago and that’s where the delegates are awarded. 22K caucus goers. The primary last night, which doesn’t count for delegates – 70K+ voters showed up, overwhelmingly voting for HRC.

Tell me again how the system is “rigged” for HRC when these caucuses are as undemocratic and more anti-voter than any closed primary.

Italy’s parliament has backed same-sex civil unions in a vote of confidence for centre-left Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

Until Wednesday’s vote Italy had been the last major Western democracy not to legally recognise gay partnerships.

The issue has been highly controversial in Italy, amid staunch opposition from Catholic conservatives.

MPs in the lower house voted 369-193 for the government, ensuring that the civil unions bill will become law.

Ahead of the vote, Mr Renzi wrote on Facebook that “today is a day of celebration for so many”.

Final approval of civil unions is expected later on Wednesday, but that vote by MPs is seen as a formality, as the confidence vote was the crucial hurdle.

    GM TODville.

We all agree that MSM is has 2 style guide mandates for election 2016.

    1) Get as many clicks/eyes/ears as possible (i.e., throw journalism standards out the window in favor of all-Trump-all-the-time — for heaven’s sake, Trump has NO competitors, yet except for Sanders*, that’s all MSM is reporting now).

    2) White Power Status Quo (i.e., *Sanders and “only non-whites can play the ‘race card’):

Not sure if @PoliticoCharlie has similar map for Sanders, but would be very surprised if it doesn’t match Trump’s.

Lots of responses to @PoliticoCharlie re: his definition of Appalachia, but from a geographic POV, he is correct. It’s all one mountain chain that White settlers gave local names to along the way (e.g., Poconos, Great Smokys, etc.).

Trump prepared to keep tax returns hidden from public
    05/11/16 12:42 PM—UPDATED 05/11/16 12:54 PM
    By Steve Benen

And what of this fine physical specimen’s tax returns? The Associated Press reported this morning:
Despite pressure, the billionaire also doesn’t expect to release his tax returns before November, citing an ongoing audit of his finances. He said he will release them after the audit ends. But he said that he wouldn’t overrule his lawyers and instruct them to release his returns if the audit hasn’t concluded by November.

“There’s nothing to learn from them,” Trump told The Associated Press in an interview Tuesday. He also has said he doesn’t believe voters are interested.
I can’t speak to what voters may or may not find interesting, but if the AP report is correct, it appears Trump will be the first major-party nominee in the modern era to simply refuse to disclose his tax returns. Mitt Romney spent months delaying disclosure and making excuses, but in his 2012 race, even he eventually released his 2011 returns and a topline summary, including his effective tax rate, for the previous 20 years.

Trump, in contrast, is prepared to move forward with no disclosure in this area at all, prompting all kinds of questions about what, exactly, the Republican may be hiding from the public. Is he far less wealthy than he claims to be? Has most of his income come by way of television, rather than the purported success of his business?

Ted Cruz already looking beyond 2016 election
    05/11/16 02:02 PM
    By Vaughn Hillyard
WASHINGTON – Ted Cruz suggested last month Republicans are “looking at a bloodbath of Walter Mondale proportions” if GOP voters send Donald Trump out of Cleveland as the party’s nominee for president.

Mondale, the Democrats’ 1984 presidential nominee, won just one state over Ronald Reagan.

“This ain’t complicated – if the top of the ticket is blown out of the water by 10 points, we’re losing the Senate,” Cruz said at the time, addressing the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas. “And there’s not a thing that can be done to stop it.”

Cruz, the 45-year-old freshman senator from Texas, has already called Trump amoral, a serial philanderer, a bully, a pathological liar and “a narcissist at a level I don’t think this country’s ever seen.” And he has refused to back Trump after being peppered by reporters at least a dozen times with the question in just the last two weeks.

But Cruz received more than seven million votes across the country in the three months since his Iowa caucus victory.

Media Glare Claims Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Dream House
The celebrated writer nixes plans of purchasing a historic Brooklyn, N.Y., brownstone after hopes of privacy vanish.

    Posted: May 10 2016 1:00 PM

Ta-Nehisi Coates has given up his dream of moving back to his old Brooklyn, N.Y., neighborhood, he wrote on Monday, after the celebrated writer’s purchase of a $2.1 million townhouse drew such media attention that he feared for his family’s safety should he move in.

“You can’t really be a black writer in this country, take certain positions, and not think about your personal safety. That’s just the history,” Coates wrote on his Atlantic magazine blog.

“. . . No one keep secrets in Brooklyn,” Coates wrote. “A few weeks after we bought, another friend sent an item from a local blog gossiping about our possible purchase. We didn’t expect to live anonymously. We thought there might be some interest and we took some steps to dissuade that interest. Those steps failed.

“Within a day of seeing these articles, my wife and I knew that we could never live in Prospect-Lefferts Garden, that we could never go back home. If anything happened to either of us, if anything happened to our son, we’d never forgive ourselves. Even the more likely, more benign, examples were disconcerting — fans showing up at your door (this happened once) or waiting for you on your stoop. Our old neighborhood was not as quiet as we thought. Nothing is quiet anymore — least of all us.”
