You think President Romney’s AG would have done this?

        GM sherijr.

Think it’s a good possibility that HRC will keep AG Lynch (she’s promised that her Cabinet will be at least 50% women), but expect that HRC will nominate Loretta Lynch to the next SCOTUS vacancy.

Truthfully hope Merrick Garland is confirmed — love his decency, determination and dedication when he prosecuted OKC bombing, and his common sense, and as (IIRC) @igorbobik remarked when PBO nominated him, he’s adorable.

If/when Garland is confirmed, can’t see anyone better for SCOTUS.

It’s actually soul satisfying to listen to Loretta Lynch. Not only is she brilliant and compassionate but her voice is mesmerizing and she manages to convey home truths in a way that forces you to listen. I hope that a Democratic administration in 2017 asks her to remain. She has so much to give and is such a magnificent force for good, we NEED her to stay.

      Agree 100!

Loretta Lynch’s voice is so soothing, felt that way since she accepted the AG nomination from PBO (listening as I drove in LA traffic, but immediately felt calmed, LOL).

She could (should?) give voice lessons to some of the people I hear on the radio who have *really* annoying voices and delivery.

Justice Department Response to North Carolina Lawsuit Attorney General Lynch spoke to reporters about North Carolina’s decision to sue the federal government in response to the Department of Justice’s ruling on the state’s House Bill 2. The department ruled that the state’s law requiring transgender people to use the restroom that corresponds with their sex at birth violates the U.S. Civil Rights Act and Title IX.

Good evening, TODville ~ I’m here to report that my son’s surgery today was, according to his thoracic and plastic surgeons, “one of the most satisfying (successful) surgeries” they’ve done of this type! Took about 2-1/2 hours and he’s still not awake yet, but the surgeons also said he’ll be in a whole lot of pain (in addition to the muscle flap part, they had to remove two more ribs), so he will be hit up with pain medication immediately and for a while after that! They’ll be watching him closely for infection, not to mention the pain monitoring. Thank you all so very much for being “with” me throughout this entire ordeal … his family and loved ones, myself included, are so very relieved tonight. Even his youngest (2-y/o) grandson learned the phrase, “You’ve got this, Poppy!” before the surgery took place!

Love can heal any problem. And God is great!

I can’t vote – being from the other side of the world – I don’t think panic describes how I feel – it’s more like disgust at the hate, rot and decay within a political party that has produced such a candidate and utter amazement at the grovelling political media who treat Trump as a worthy candidate.

That a country who elected President Obama could even give 1 primary delegate to Donald Trump leaves me bereft of words.

        May 9, 2016 at 9:20 pm

I know, 99ts, the public voting for the most brilliant, qualified person with the public in mind twice for the Presidency followed by voting for the con man being the least qualified, unsuitable person that insults everyone and that could ruin our economy and country back to back is insane. I pray it does not happen.

I never thought I would be quoting my mother to say “manners maketh the man” First time I can remember that someone has been so revoltingly rude and belligerent while seeking a high political position.

It matters not where you are in the financial level of society, you can still earn respect and give respect – Trump does neither.

          May 9, 2016 at 9:34 pm

This should help you feel better:

Hillary Clinton is going to beat Donald Trump in the November 2016 United States general election and it is unlikely to be close.

          From the above:

“I feel strange writing something like this because the obviousness of Trump losing seems clear-cut to me, but I’ve seen liberals losing their minds over the possibility of him winning. While nothing is 100%, the likelihood of aliens landing on the White House lawn and defecating on the rose garden is more likely than Donald Trump being elected the 45th President of the United States.”

            May 9, 2016 at 9:55 pm

Thanks MadameSoph – I can remember being worried about PBO losing in 2008 – yet he won easily – the mere fact that the GOP would nominate such a man casts doubt on the sanity of far too many people. I don’t think the media were as blatantly right wing in 2008 as they are now – nor were laws to make it difficult for people to vote in place. THe GOP just moves the goal posts.

I’m with you 99ts. I worried in 2008 and 2012. I’m still gonna be working hard to get out the vote and urging others to do the same because, as in both of those years, I won’t rest until I “hear the fat lady sing” Also, voting down ticket is critical to help protect and move forward PBO’s legacy and agenda, as well as help HRC be the best Pres she can be.

Wow, I actually just smiled to myself saying, “Best Pres SHE can be” We are going to have a first woman following a first AA Pres, and both of them good liberal ones too. This is actually gonna be a BFD, as VP Joe would say 🙂

I’m sure Donald can just “print the money”…or maybe default…..or work out a deal to pay a lesser amount….

Two presidential campaigns owe the city of Tucson a lot of money.

Between them, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump’s campaigns owe the city more than $125,000 for police protection for their campaign stops in March.

The Trump campaign used more police so it has the bigger bill for police, almost twice the amount that Sanders owes.

The Tucson City Manager’s office says the Trump campaign owes $81,837.

The Sanders campaign ran up a bill for police protection that totals $44,013.

Thanks so much for all the comments about my son – I’ll respond to all of them tonight/tomorrow. Had to tell you something funny. Here I am (poor me) slowly recovering from the events of the day …

… when the phone rings and it’s my son, making his first call to me from the hospital. First of all, his voice sounded fabulous. Clear and strong. But the joke part was what he said, excitedly:

“Ma! Turn on Channel 28 right away. A movie on Lifetime showing scenes from Trenton. Watch it.” (He and I both grew up in Trenton, New Jersey.) (Since he’s been home most of the time these last many months, he makes these calls to me quite regularly – I usually tell him “Okay, great, I’ll record it” and then he never bothers me again about the shows. 🙂 )

Then he said he was fine, but in pain, and may or may not call any of us back tonight. Hey, at least he got in the pitch for the Lifetime movie. This kid has a “spine of steel,” as Joe Biden would say! I’m exhausted, and nobody “operated” on me today! Go figure. #SoRelieved
