Fashion designer Ozwald Boeteng, left, and actress Holly Valance, right, in the audience too. Boeteng, makes the best-tailored men’s suits in the world (In my opinion) located on Savile Row (is Idris Elba’s personal tailor…along with a lot Hollywood & European athletes) Luis Vuitton president made him Creative Director of Givenchy at a young age. Check out this doc on him (A bucket list item for me is to get a tailored suit from him)

Annie Lennox was also sitting in the crowd to see the president on his visit

…. the REAL Reason Your Jeans Have That Tiny Pocket With Tiny Buttons
    By Abby Heugel

I think it’s safe to assume that most people own at least one pair of jeans. And while wearing that pair of jeans, you’ve tried to put something in your pocket only to have it get caught in that tiny stupid little pocket inside the intended pocket.

According to the Levi Strauss & Co blog, that tiny little pocket was actually originally intended for men who wore pocket watches.

Beyoncé’s visual album, Lemonade, is worthy of the highest scholarly treatment. I can see it being analyzed and interpreted in Literature, History, Women’s Studies, and all kinds of Black Studies classes. Discussions on just the use of setting can fill up many pages.

These folks cannot stand our truth so they try to white wash it. We know who we are and we are the only ones qualified to tell our story. The line by Malcom X that basically speaks to the invisibility of the Black woman (and this is more so as we age), singed my brain, pierced my heart, and chilled my soul with its awful truth.

The solar-powered aeroplane, Solar Impulse, has completed a three-day flight over the Pacific Ocean.

It flew over San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge on Saturday evening as it prepared to land in California.

The plane took off from Hawaii on Thursday, where it underwent repairs for the past eight months after its batteries were damaged during the flight from Japan.

This is the ninth leg of its attempt to fly round the world.

“I crossed the bridge. I am officially in America,” said pilot Bertrand Piccard as he flew above San Francisco Bay.

Solar Impulse started the journey last March in Abu Dhabi. The trip has involved two different pilots flying separate legs.

Piccard will land the plane later on Saturday evening at Moffett Airfield, located in Mountain View in Silicon Valley.

The landing is being delayed until winds drop.

    ///

Piccard and Borschberg have been working on the Solar Impulse project for more than a decade.

They first trialled a smaller plane, taking it on a trans-America crossing in 2013.

The version of the vehicle they currently fly is considerably bigger.

Its wingspan is wider than a 747 jumbo jet, and, yet, it weighs only 2.3 tonnes.

I´ve been to the Globe theatre twice, once for a guided tour and once to watch “As you like it” with a group of students, and seeing these pictures and video clips I can´t help but thinking that he´d be having a riot if he could really watch a play there with all that goes with it. These people are such brilliant actors and the whole area before the stage (the so called Groundlings pit, because that used to be the cheap standing spots that even the poor could sometimes afford, and today it´s still just 5 British Pound apiece) is crowded with people. Hearing how much he longs to get out of “the bubble” sometimes, that would be such a treat for him I bet.

      GA niliathiel.

Chips has opened a new thread for this morning (US time), but hope you see this and let us know of local Germany livestream / blogs (in English?) that we Obots can tune into during PBO’s visit to Germany.

During high school I acted as a volunteer usher at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego, so I knew the seating arrangement there very well. That replica is shaded by eucalyptus trees in the middle of one of the largest urban parks in the US (Balboa Park, which also includes the San Diego Zoo).

Have to say that the two locations (England vs. San Diego) look quite a bit different, but am thrilled by PBO’s visit yesterday!
