      GM JER.

Thanks for posting PBO’s town hall, which I missed (tried to rouse myself out of bed, but fell back to sleep 😦 [2:45am on the west coast[).

GM TODville. Do yourselves a favor and check out PBO strolling onstage to #GimmeShelter — an entrance for the ages, if I do say so myself.

Really, really bad news for Vlad ….

  13. April 23, 2016 at 8:31 am

Once again, President Obama was far out in front of a bunch of other ‘leaders’ ….

Take care everyone … bbl ….

Good morning TOD, I so enjoyed the town hall. President Obama has such a command of the facts on any issue. But what was so refreshing was to hear him explain activism, and compromise. In an effort to get the full loaf you start out getting half a loaf then you work towards getting the full loaf.

    • April 23, 2016 at 9:40 am

I really loved his answer to the question of what makes a good leader:

Recognize you can’t know everything yourself, attract very smart talent, remove barriers to their success, recognize power in others, listen and learn from them and do what you can to encourage greatness in others.

      He’s just always so brilliant!

    GM TODville.

Know nothing about UK politics, and have no idea where opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn stood before on #Brexit, but…

    And there’s this too:

While US MSM worry about GOP chaos (and get paid reporting internal gossip and sniping), PBO has quietly been building a network of young leaders whose influence will stretch far beyond the idiocy the MSM is focused on today).

    From the pool report:

“One portion of the audience was selected by lottery from U.S. Embassy London’s Young Leaders in the UK (YLUK) program, which was established by U.S. Ambassador Matthew Barzun in 2015 to deepen and broaden relationships between Americans and British students and young professionals aged 18-30.”

Groups represented in this program are:

The Sutton Trust: In partnership with the US-UK Fulbright Commission, the Sutton Trust gives bright, non-privileged state school students interested in attending a U.S. university, a preview of life on a U.S. campus, as well as support in making high quality undergraduate applications to the U.S.

Amos Bursary: A charity that gives young black men scholarships…

Active Change Foundation: Active Change Foundation is a grassroots organization/youth center designed to create a safe space for youth to go and discuss issues.

Mulberry School for Girls: Visited the First Lady at the White House in November 2015, following a visit they hosted the summer after the launch of the “Let Girls Learn” initiative.

Anti-Tribalism Movement: Inspiring the local community (mostly directed at the Somali diaspora) to look past tribe identity to work together to fight extremism.

Renaissance Foundation: Ensuring young caregivers with great responsibilities at home caring for sick or disabled parents and siblings are also keeping up academically and developing critical leadership skills.

Sixth Form Students: The Ambassador has visited 131 schools and spoken to over 14,000 Sixth Formers (16-18 year olds) for frank and open conversations on U.S. domestic and foreign policy.

Impressive groups of young leaders who will influence the world for years to come. πŸ™‚

The U.S. media were eating up POTUS meeting Prince George, if he hadn’t met the little Prince I guess they wouldn’t have given the trip any mention.

    • April 23, 2016 at 9:51 am

Oh and the media let us know that Princess Charlotte sleep through the who meeting. I guess William and Kate were suppose to go wake her up.

      Oops, POTUS missed his shot!

    • April 23, 2016 at 10:56 am

Our friend Mark Knoller is up to his old tricks, he says it’s POTUS 286 round of golf since he has been in office. It took POTUS 56 minutes to get to today golf course, and last week it took POTUS 76 minutes to get to the course in Maryland. Every chance he get he has to talk about POTUS playing golf as if he is offended by it. Maybe I’m being alittle hard on Knoller, maybe he is just keeping us inform. After all he is a journalists, right????

    Craziest story I heard to date πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      Wow, that was fascinating, LP!

Last night I was Googling Prince songs and history I and found, among other things, an old interview with Tavis Smiley where he’s talking about Chemtrails, Illuminati, etc. I had no idea he was such a conspiracy theorist and also a Republican (?!) Although, apparently, since he was a Jehovah’s Witness, he didn’t vote. Wasn’t happy with how he spoke about President Obama. He was a fan of Cornell West, so maybe that was part of it.

Anyway, this was a super interesting story by Kevin Smith. Smith obviously didn’t have the cultural experience to know/understand that referring to “the Devil” could have more than one meaning.

Prince was a musical genius, and many geniuses walk a fine line between brilliant and crazy. Plus, the insulation of fame and being surrounded by people who work for you and don’t want to tell you “no” can be its own detriment.

My fave line from this: “What the f*ck is Silent Bob doing here?” πŸ™‚

      Thanks for sharing this.

      • April 23, 2016 at 9:01 pm

The whole 2 weeks episode is mind blowing, Soph. Most intriguing thing to me was the fact that Prince fully produced/shot/paid for 50 music videos (whatever year that was) for songs that were not even released…and just threw them into his “vault” ….who knows what kind of library of music he has just waiting for public consumption πŸ˜•

I saw a lot of photos with a black and white toy stuffed dog that looked like Bo on a coffee table-like settee yesterday. Do you suppose it may have been a gift from the Obamas? If so, cool!

One way, or another, that day of reckoning will come. It’ll be much, much better if WE initiated & completed it.

    back to work …..
