Andrew Jackson got kicked off the $20 bill for Harriet Tubman. Because it’s Abolition April. And the Blackest Year EVER.

This is being repeated because of some stupid book released about the modern First Ladies and in that book it claims Michelle hates Hillary.

I’m gonna have to wait to get home, get some dinner, and then enjoy the comments section:

    Damon Young, 4/20/16

I was going to create of a list of things Blacker than the face of Harriet Tubman โ€” perhaps the fiercest and baddest person to ever plant a foot on American soil โ€” replacing Andrew Jacksonโ€™s on the 20.

But I decided not to. Because nothing I could possibly cite or conjure would be Blacker than this woman โ€” this American who lived as a fearless, relentless, and unambiguous challenge of America; her very existence both an indictment of our nation and the fullest and beautifulest paean to the kidnapped Africans living within it โ€” existing on our currency. The same currency she could have been purchased for 170 years ago. The Blackness scale has officially been broken. Obliterated. Decimated.

And all I know is that I will never break a 20 dollar bill again.

Oh yes, I have a brother that’s jet black and I greet him by calling him “black,” this is so delicious.

    GA TODville.

Wonderful decision by Secretary Lew, kudos to him and to Lin-Manuel Miranda and to PBO.

Very fitting that a person of color, a bastard child no less, snuck by the bigots who designed current $10 bill and remains on that bill.

Don’t know what DWS’ congressional constituents think of her performance but I personally would LOVE to removed from Chair of DNC. She should’ve been tossed after 2012, if not then, most certainly after 2014 for utter incompetence.

Yay! Just got home from visiting with my cousin (we live a few hours away from each other and met in between). We were just having a conversation about family history, in particular the African American part of our family history, and I come home and see Nerdy’s post!

Harriet Tubman on the $20!!!! Historic day is right!

The past eight years has been a series of historic days and this is an especially sweet one.

I’ll need to catch up later but this is so very cool.

Apologies if someone already posted this, but just googled some info on the new Tubman $20 and saw that there will also be some new faces on our $5s and $10s. Yay new money ๐Ÿ™‚ !

Good to see that @nytimes carried an obituary for Harriet Tubman.

Interesting that they refer to “the fifties” as casually as we would when referring to Ike, hula hoops and Davy Crockett coontail hats.

And just like today, they offer two POVs on her accomplishments.

Then he needs to start acting like a Democrat!

Sanders’ campaign says he’ll stay a Democrat after election
By NOLAN D. MCCASKILL 04/20/16 06:07 PM EDT

Bernie Sanders will remain a member of the Democratic Party after his primary election against Hillary Clinton, his campaign manager said Wednesday.
The independent Vermont senatorโ€™s congressional website currently notes that Sanders is the โ€œthe longest serving independent member of Congress in American history,โ€ though he caucuses with Democrats.

how is that possible when he is running as an indie in his home state of Vermont….yanno it gets to the point where we just have to call it what it is…Bernie is trying to make fools out of all of us,,,,by denying what is clear to all of us…He Is NO DEM

      • April 20, 2016 at 10:24 pm

He knows he won’t be president, but is worried they won’t give him his party chairmanship back so he’s trying to suck up.

      • April 20, 2016 at 10:27 pm

He’s called the Democratic party every name under the sun. I wonder how his supporters will feel about him joining the corrupt Democrats? Maybe they’ll wake up to the line of baloney he’s been feeding them. He has got a damn nerve. He know he’s washed up.

        April 20, 2016 at 10:55 pm

Thank you. He is running as an Indie. I think what he meant is he will continue to caucus with the DEMS. I really hope someone primarys him.
