This was not a good moment for HRC nor De Blasio…

HERE’S WHY BILL DE BLASIO AND HILLARY CLINTON’S JOKE BOMBED — THEY’RE NOT FUNNY PEOPLE

De Blasio had said he didn’t mean to offend anyone in the skit at the annual Inner Circle show, in which he claimed his late endorsement of Clinton was the result of “C.P. time,” which he defined as cautious politician time.”

It’s a riff on the derogatory “colored people time,” which means always late.

“It’s a satire. The whole show was a satire,” de Blasio told MSNBC Tuesday. “I was mocking myself. I’m sorry, I just think — look, I take full responsibility. Someone else wrote the script, but I approved it.”

Civil rights leader Bertha Lewis, an ally of de Blasio’s and a Clinton supporter, also called out the two top Democrats. “You just stuck your foot in it again,” said Lewis, who is black. “What you say, when you say it, to whom you say it, and where you say it makes a difference.”

ted crud is an murkan. where is that whasshername batshit crazy woman?

A judge in New Jersey has ruled that Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz is a “natural-born citizen” under the US constitution and may run in the state’s primary elections in June.

A group of residents had challenged the Texas senator’s eligibility for the presidency. He was born in Canada to a Cuban father and American mother.

But Judge Jeff Masin found that Mr Cruz met the constitutional requirements.

New Jersey’s Lt Governor, Kim Guadagno, is now expected to review the decision.

    ///

Judge Masin added that his decision might be adopted, modified or rejected by Lt Gov Guadagno, New Jersey’s secretary of state, who is authorised to make a final decision on the matter. She must transmit the names of candidates to appear on the primary ballot to county clerks by Thursday.

A similar legal challenge was rejected a court in Pennsylvania, where Sen Cruz will appear on the state’s Republican primary ballot later this month.

The Department of Education will send letters to 387,000 people they’ve identified as being eligible for a total and permanent disability discharge, a designation that allows federal student loan borrowers who can’t work because of a disability to have their loans forgiven…the borrower will simply have to sign and return the completed application enclosed in the letter.

If every borrower identified by the department decides to have his or her debt forgiven, the government will end up discharging more than $7.7 billion in debt, according to the department.

Kudos to the Administration for delivering a boost to some of those most in need of it.

The Saudi authorities have moved to curb the powers of the notorious religious police, or “mutawa”.

Members of the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice will no longer be permitted to chase suspects or arrest them.

They must instead report observations to security forces personnel.

Religious police officers, who roam the streets enforcing strict standards of social behaviour, are frequently accused of abusing their powers.

Several were reportedly arrested in February for allegedly assaulting (YouTube video) a young woman outside a shopping centre in the capital, Riyadh.

In 2013, four officers were accused of causing a fatal car crash when they pursued two brothers who had refused to turn the radio down in their vehicle. However, a court subsequently acquitted them.

Scammer all the way. People, in “good faith?” are contributing to him and buying his merchandise because they see him as a successful business man who can save the country. But just as he scammed banks, investors, and other business, causing them to lose big money, these supporters will also lose in the end.

Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen said the agency is trying to figure out how to address the issue of illegal immigrants using others’ social security numbers — without discouraging them from filing their taxes.

When undocumented workers use other people’s SSNs to get jobs and then file their taxes using their IRS-issued individual tax identification numbers, “it’s in everybody’s interest to have them pay the taxes they owe,” Koskinen said Tuesday at a Senate Finance Committee hearing.

The question is whether the social security numbers have been stolen. In many cases, they have been borrowed from friends or acquaintances with permission, Koskinen said.

“It’s not the normal identity-theft situation,” he said.

JPMorgan Chase & Co., Bank of America Corp. and three other major U.S. banks failed to persuade regulators they could go bankrupt without disrupting the financial system and could now face a tighter leash from Washington after government agencies used one of the most significant post-crisis powers bestowed under the Dodd-Frank Act.

The banks — also including Wells Fargo & Co., Bank of New York Mellon Corp. and State Street Corp. — must scrap their so-called living wills after regulators said the submissions failed to satisfy their demands. The rejected lenders will have until Oct. 1 to rewrite their plans — but under the pressure that another failure would give the Federal Reserve and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. power to subject them to more capital, liquidity or constraints on their businesses.

      GM SBG.

      Thanks for posting.

I’m not clear about what a bank’s “living will” is… something about how they could go bankrupt without disrupting the financial system (but don’t know what this means).

From the article (which I do understand 😉 ):
“The worst-case scenario for a bank that continually fails to make its case over the course of years is that regulators could eventually get authority to break them up, according to the law. Those are uncharted waters, because this marks the first time regulators have taken the initial step to find fault.”

      • April 13, 2016 at 10:02 am

Good Morning, arapaho415. That is the high level understanding I have as well. In this round, apparently the banks were not able to show how they would mitigate risk. I wonder if they will be able to without being broken up.

        • 53 arapaho415
          April 13, 2016 at 10:14 am

          Thanks SBG.

Our banking system has really become atrocious, and the first step of righting the ship is to have banks headquartered in the states they do business — would provide more local employment (for jobs other than tellers and call centers) and increase competition. Nowawdays “local banking” requires you think like a NYC-er.

Not a fan of race-baiting Sanders at all, but I do hope HRC takes action to restore Glass-Steagall, which worked to lift the US from the 1930s global depression and with its repeal have turned consumer banking into pawns for the casinos banks call “investment banking.” When banks were regulated (35 years ago), regular savings paid 5% but now yield less than 1% APR, which is completely ridiculous.

Banks had their chance to prove that they aren’t motivated by greed (aka gambling with federally insured deposits) and they failed that test.

          End of rant.

    This is funny and self-deprecating….

“Hillary Clinton’s subway struggle proved that the Metrocard swipe is an art form. It took her five very painful swipes to make it through the turnstile last week. New York commuters felt her pain — but that didn’t stop everyone from making fun of her. Now, Clinton’s epic fail is immortalized on her campaign’s 404 page”

Peabody Energy, the world’s largest privately-owned coal miner, has filed for bankruptcy protection in the US after a sharp fall in coal prices left it unable to repay its debts.

The firm said the move was aimed at reducing debt and that all its mines and offices would continue to operate.

“This was a difficult decision, but it is the right path forward for Peabody,” said chief executive Glenn Kellow.

Peabody’s debt problems stem from its takeover of Australian rival Macarthur.

The firm paid about 5bn Australian dollars (£2.5bn) to buy the coalminer in 2011, but lower coal prices amid falling demand means it has struggled to repay its resulting debts.

The move is the latest in a series of bankruptcies in the industry, with miners hit by a combination of low energy prices, tougher environmental regulations and a shift to natural gas.

Just going to put this down here….

    http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/04/ted-cruz-dildo-ban-sex-devices-texas

In one chapter of his campaign book, A Time for Truth, Sen. Ted Cruz proudly chronicles his days as a Texas solicitor general, a post he held from 2003 to 2008. Bolstering his conservative cred, the Republican presidential candidate notes that during his stint as the state’s chief lawyer before the Supreme Court and federal and state appellate courts, he defended the inclusion of “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance, the display of the Ten Commandments on the grounds of the state capitol, a congressional redistricting plan that assisted Republicans, a restrictive voter identification law, and a ban on late-term abortions. He also described cases in which he championed gun rights and defended the conviction of a Mexican citizen who raped and murdered two teenage girls in a case challenged by the World Court. Yet one case he does not mention is the time he helped defend a law criminalizing the sale of dildos.
