The President Speaks….And A Tweet Or Two

Some run their mouths, while others are proactive. #ThanksObama

Bravo, sir!

Good point. 73 months of private sector job creation is historic. No president has ever accomplished that

Really disturbing

What a Lying Manipulative sack of whatever.
Was begged to be VP in ’12. He didn’t resign his Seat……a First for a House of Rep.
Was Begged to be Speaker……had to guarantee For Vote, Unanimous, Freer Time, etc.
Now, He’s setting it up for the Ultimate Price……GOP Nomination for President & a Seat for the POTUS? What a farce. The Hubris. The Mendacity.

Remember when the GOP got around recess appointments with some obscure way of supposedly not recessing? I only slightly remember, but there was only at a time, but it qualified for not being recessed.

      • April 12, 2016 at 7:39 pm

I think it was something like, someone had to show up every few days. It was minimal.

      • April 12, 2016 at 8:00 pm

And the right wing majority on the Supreme Court gave legal sanction the GOP ruse about Congress not being in recess on paper when it actually was in reality! The Republicans in Congress have used every tactics, quite a few of them unprecedented, to obstruct President Obama.

      • 45 sjterrid
        April 12, 2016 at 9:33 pm

I’m not sure if they can use the recess appointment for this, but since the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman and the republicans are denying the President’s appointment a fair hearing, they aren’t performing their duties of advising and consenting they’re ignoring the constitution. I wonder, if there is something the President and Harry Reid in the Senate can do.

Yeap. They are just too coward when it comes to facing their music “You built that!” After 7 1/2 years of degrading, dismissing, dissing the President, to no avail I must add, they are now faced with a rebellion from their “base” that, ironically, accuses them to “have built that”.

I hate to bring it up put have anyone heard about the new book by Kate Anderson Brower about modern First Ladies? It says Michelle Obama has a beef with Hillary Clinton. Michelle wanted Joe Biden to run for President. Well so did everyone up here.

That doesn’t sound like something FLOTUS would say to someone she hardly knows and writing a book. I would not trust anything someone claims FLOTUS says unlesd i heard her say it with my own ears.

: I heard the tail end of the interview between Andrea Mitchell and the author. Then I heard the response from FLOTUS: Unequivocally false. I’m sure the author never interviewed FLOTUS…..but talked to “sources.” Always the same. Every book that has come out with negative “info” about POTUS and FLOTUS has been shown to be made up. My reaction was “YAWN”

New Hillary TV ad aimed at black voters in Philadelphia

    “She says their names.”

Hillary Clinton began running a TV advertisement, called “Stand,” in the Philadelphia market Tuesday. Narrated by actor Morgan Freeman, the 30-second spot discusses Clinton’s support for African American mothers who lost their children to gun violence on while in police custody.

It features Clinton speaking the names of Sandra Bland, who died in police custody after a questionable traffic stop turned abusive, and Trayvon Martin, shot and killed by a vigilante in Florida. There is video of the former secretary of state, senator and first lady meeting with a group of mothers and hugging several of them. The ad goes on to discuss Clinton’s advocacy of a bill to end racial profiling while in the Senate, and her support for an end to discriminatory criminal sentencing.

And, Freeman says, Clinton “stands with the president against those who would undo his achievements – just like she’s always stood with us.”

I understand that now a bunch of farther left groups are insisting that he not be considered for VP because of his actions on mortgages, which they feel are hurting poor people, and that he is not liberal enough. Congressman Grizalda (sp?), Daily Kos, Act Blue maybe? and several others.

You think it’s because those over 30 are more likely to see how unrealistic and over-the-top his promises are? Then too, they are less likely to appreciation the unethical behavior of his campaign staff/surrogates/supporters.

Coming on the heels of his three-state sweep, Bernie Sanders is claiming momentum and furiously pushing back against the notion that Hillary Clinton’s pledged delegate lead is mathematically insurmountable. “We have a path to victory,” campaign strategist Tad Devine insisted this week, though he acknowledged that involves winning most of the states coming up ”by large margins.”

But to do that, Sanders has to figure out how to dramatically widen his base of support—and right away. In effect, this 74-year-old aspiring revolutionary needs to start gaining the trust of anyone older than 30. Sanders must swiftly persuade a large number of skeptical voters who are not part of his core of youthful enthusiasts, voters who are nonwhite, or middle-aged, or even his own age and older.

A white former South Carolina police officer indicted on a felony charge over the fatal shooting of an unarmed black motorist was sentenced on Monday to three years probation over the February 2014 incident, local media reported.

Justin Gregory Craven, a former police officer in North Augusta, pleaded guilty to misconduct in office on Monday and was sentenced to probation as well as 80 hours of public service, local broadcaster WRDW reported.

The felony charge was dropped as part of Monday’s plea agreement, WRDW said. Craven faced one year in prison with a fine of up to $1,000, the Aiken Standard newspaper reported.

A report released by the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau this week found that the local economy has already lost out on hundreds of thousands of dollars due to North Carolina’s HB2 bathroom law.

On Monday, a report from Wake County’s tourism agency said that the Raleigh area had already lost $732,000 in economic benefits, citing numerous cancellations of conferences and events, The News & Observer reported.

The Raleigh Visitors Bureau warned that the local economy could lose out on $24 million in economic benefits if the law is not repealed. According to the report, 16 other groups were considering relocating their events outside the state.

Back in the day some of us thought that Bill Clinton was a master politician, but then that man from Hawaii came along and showed us what a true master politician looks like. And when the book is finally written about Barack Obama, his achievements in the white house might not even be among his greatest achievements.

They have in opponent Bernie Sanders a fantasist who’s at passionate war with reality. By choosing Clinton, Empire State Dems would powerfully signal that the party has gotten real about achieving long-sought goals.”
