Hi, Nerdy and LDS. You really are up early on a Sunday morning, Nerdy. Thank you for getting us going. Hope all is well with you. Congratulations on first, LDS.
Went to a Democratic dinner last night and the party chairman tried to describe the delegate system in PA. It is so cockamamie that by the time she was finished everyone was laughing. What a weird, byzantine system we have for nominating presidential candidates!!!

    • April 10, 2016 at 11:31 am

i know…gonna post a piece that i read yesterday…was rather interesting..he gives some interesting commentary about PA delegate selection…

you might have missed my post about the Hillary for PA campaign…i think that they missed opportunities here in PA…hope it does not bite them in the butt…as you know…the delegates are awarded proportionately….(sigh)…

    Jackie, thank you.
I am up early for Sunday School. (which I love so much)
I also teach Children’s Church( which they eventually teach me). I love their young creative inventive sponge soaking minds.
It’s a beautiful sunny cool day in NYC.
Thank you Nerdy for the post.
I will play catch up when I get back home.
    I feel good!

Jackie, that Democratic dinner sounded like a comedy.
    Wow! Grown folks, huh?

It wasn’t intended as comedy, LDS. The poor woman was actually trying to describe the system as it is and it was so complicated, you could only laugh.

Laughing at ourselves is good, don’t you think? I am kind of an unprogrammed person at heart and so, though I understand how rules get convoluted because they are created to cover all the bases by multiple people over multiple tries, its always good, I think to examine what the end goal is and try to trim the fat. The right wing talks about that and if they actually meant it it would not be such a bad thing. What they really want is to destroy our public functions entirely, however. Like an autoimmune response to our systems.

I wonder why the president is on Fox News Chris Wallace this morning?

    • April 10, 2016 at 8:51 am

He has given interviews on FOX before. He’s everyone’s President, even those who don’t like him – and he is willing to step into unfriendly territory to inform people. That’s what a classy statesman does.

Its Sunday so I’ll gently throw this in. Remember when a certain carpenter’s son would go over to talk to all the people no one was supposed to talk to? Tax collectors, prostitutes, Samaritans, lepers, etc. Children were very welcome too. I think our President has a few good role models in mind when he attempts to cross the divide. Though they spurn him, denigrate him, and generally turn away from his outstretched hand, he still offers it. I love our President so much it makes me cry. Maybe because in his spirit of compassion, generosity, truth and competence I see a glimpse of how the human spirit, when it decides to open itself to the greater good can be so beautiful its blinding. We can hurt each other mercilessly, that is true, but each true and open spirit in our midst reminds us what is real and lasting and worth working for. Blessings on everyone here and thank you a thousand times for making this place such a beautiful place and a refuge.

There is a statement that Hillary Clinton made in 1992 that I’ve never forgotten. When Bill was running for president she said, “I hope he doesn’t let us down.” By “us” she meant the two of them. I believe that HRC has always been the stronger, less volatile partner, but 1992 was certainly not the time that a woman could even think of running for president. So it was Bill that had to carry the torch and I think she was nervous for him. I think of this statement every time Bill Clinton does or says something boneheaded. He’s a brilliant man, but he doesn’t have her self-control and doesn’t always think before he talks or acts. I think this time, the burden is on Hillary herself and she’s actually more at peace with that.

    • 45 Don
      April 10, 2016 at 9:49 am

Very interesting statement, very true. I think most spouses know the weaknesses of the other spouse. The thing about Hillary and Michele is that they are very strong willed, they don’t seem to suffer fools even if that fool is a President. This time around Hillary does seem to have a peacefulness about her, its Bill that needs to focus on the task at hand.

Great faces and hair-dos on the fairies. The one in the middle must be the queen.

I am just get caught up and I needed something like this after seeing Il Douche trying to kiss an A-A baby which is probably the first time that he has ever noticed or touched any child, but especially one that is a POC. Surely he does not think that such a calculated move would impress anyone. It was a skeevy looking photo especially when it is contrasted with any of the photos of PBO interacting with children of all ages. That photo made me think of a Judas kiss.

I honestly don’t see how Sanders survives after New York. Oh, he can hang on, milking money from his supporters and trying to stir up animosity toward Clinton, but he has zero chance after that. He will also lose PA and MD. There is no path forward for him.

      • 51 Don
        April 10, 2016 at 9:51 am

Sanders isn’t looking for a path forward, Sanders is trying to cement his place in history like Ralph Nader before him.

“…for as long as you are willing to serve as their personal ATM machine.”

This campaign has become much more lucrative than Bernie anticipated when he first started. Inflated ego…inflated wallet…what better reason to drag this out as long as he can???

                GM swbluega and NCLB

                Thank you for the clarification.

I’ve seen many people whose acumen, judgment and experience I admire allude to the fact that neither Trump nor Sanders is *actually* running for President.

With Trump it’s obvious — narcissism and greed. Been scratching my head over why Bernie insists on dividing Dems in a PUMA-like manner, ignoring the absolute vile comments from his supporters, which no candidate with character would tolerate.

Does anyone else have ideas as to Bernie’s motivation to divide and belittle Dems?

                • April 10, 2016 at 11:22 am

IMO…Bernie has learned that controversy is profitable. If he maintained the “positive”, issue-focused campaigned he claimed he would run when he first started, how much attention/support/donations would he be bringing in at this point? Attacking Clinton (doesn’t matter if it’s Bill or Hillary) is guaranteed to get media attention. Bell-ringers like “revolution”, “Wall Street”, “Corporate Finance”, “Free College”, “Free Healthcare” are garnering the support of a demographic that is slow to ask the question “HOW?”.

The tactics in play by Bernie’s campaign/surrogates/supporters have the potential to do long-term, if not lasting, damage to the Democratic party. This is like legislators who try to enact/repeal laws that have no impact on *their* well-being (e.g., ACA, VRA, etc). Bernie is not a Democrat. Therefore, he has no vested interest in operating for the good of the party. As an independent, it’s all about Bernie.

                    April 10, 2016 at 11:43 am

                    Thanks SWBG.

So it boils down to ego and “follow the money.”

Will he continue to be the #PiedPiper of the white emoprog resentment movement after HRC is Dem nominee, just to keep his name in the news?

                    • April 10, 2016 at 11:54 am

Exactly, arapaho415. The degree that his ego is deflated and the cash flow dries up, as well as the degree that his resentful surrogates/supporters want to retaliate will probably determine the continuation of his revolution.

Hope everyone has a beautiful blessed Sunday. I love all the tweets I see about the President being more popular and all the current candidates and if he ran again he would win. I think this is something we all know. He is the most even tempered president we have had. He is also the only President in a long time that really hasn’t had any scandals. What there has been has only been because the Repubs have made it a scandal.

Off to church. In my Sacred Journey class we are studying the book “No God but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam” by Reza Aslan. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn about Islam.

Certainly not Ted Cruz, he’s itching to bring about the end-times along with his old man. Donald Trump would probably sell them to the highest bidder and then turn around and brag about the deal. Bernie Sanders would somehow blame Wall Street for the fact that he has to walk around with the codes. That leaves Hillary Clinton, I wouldn’t have a problem with Hillary having the codes.
