curious which outlets are calling the race over. Huffypuffy shows 21% of votes counted, and BS has 53.2% to HRC’s 46.6– still seems pretty close.

oops this comment was a general one, supposed to be at the bottom of the thread.

my comment on the Pfeiffer tweet is: the tone of the sanders speech tonight will be very irritating.

          Aloha, Susanne.

Not watching victory speeches, but made the mistake of turning on the radio and heard the end of Cruz’ speech — his supporters sound so *bloodthirsty*, it was scary listening to him and his supporters. Both Trump and Cruz are a curse on this nation, ashamed of what has happened to the US.

          As for Bernie’s tone:

You are much braver than I am– I can’t listen to any of them! HRC says good stuff, but I prefer reading it. 🙂

My Berniebot friends are all googly-eyed over his ‘big win’– hope they enjoy it, because it will be the last one!

Thanks for these great photos! All the hoopla going on about the Wisconsin primary– and the president, the first lady, the vice president, our leaders just keep on working hard for us, doing what they do best.

My goofy friends that are in ecstasy over Bernie have no real concept of what is required of those who actually hold the office.

What I keep hearing people say is: “I like what he says. I agree with Bernie.” In my own opinion Bernie does the talk really well, but does not do the walk! Not sure most people really understand how the government works.
As in the NYDN article it shows Bernie does not understand how to solve the problems he is yelling about or even the responsibility of the divisions of power.

        April 6, 2016 at 12:57 am

What’s scary to me is that it’s not just the devotee/voters who don’t understand what it takes– Bern himself doesn’t seem to realize what would be required of him. And anyone who thinks ‘outsider’ Trump can lead the nation is an idiot.

Sanders is not qualified to be president. He has it easy now because he is not being vetted like Hillary. The republicans will tear him to shreds. I hope that he is asked some of the questions from that newspaper interview at the debate in New york.

      • April 5, 2016 at 10:07 pm

If he doesn’t have any better answers or any answers period, flags should be waving and alarms should be blaring all over the place. At some point, practicality should outweigh emotion.

Instant messaging service Whatsapp has announced it will encrypt all its users’ communications from Tuesday.

With end-to-end encryption, messages are scrambled as they leave the sender’s device and can only be decrypted by the recipient’s device.

It renders messages unreadable if they are intercepted, for example by criminals or law enforcement.

Whatsapp, which has a billion users worldwide, said file transfers and voice calls would be encrypted too.

The Facebook-owned company said protecting private communication was one of its “core beliefs”.

"I was on a call with Elizabeth Warren yesterday regarding SCOTUS. She was her usual inspiring, plain spoken, self. Just love her.

She made an ask for today and the entire week. We need to call our Senators and demand they Do Their Job, and remind them that advice and consent requires hearings, not refusals to hold hearings. She reminded us that this is dirty politics that is disrespectful to President Obama and that it is unprecedented.

I am on vacation in the Grand Canyon so will be hiking all day. Please bring this posting over to new postings – so it can be visible all day.

Senator Warren mentioned that the pressure is working and we need to keep it up.

Here is a link where you can automatically call your Senator in DC (her recommendation is you call their DC office)

The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee criticized John Roberts on the Senate floor Tuesday, accusing the chief justice of contributing to the growing politicization of the Supreme Court.

In a speech about 10 days before Justice Antonin Scalia died, Roberts warned that the trend of approving qualified Supreme Court nominees along party-line Senate votes undermines the legitimacy of the court. “The process is not functioning very well,” Roberts said.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, who as Judiciary chairman is a key figure in the battle over Merrick Garland’s nomination, shot back at Roberts, essentially advising the chief justice to look in the mirror.

    ///

Responding to the speech, a spokesman for Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) called Grassley “unglued” and said his remarks represent “an epic display of buck-passing.”

I still think it’s because we don’t have to hide under our beds at night, because of our candidates, thus getting us to the polls in droves. We also don’t have a Barack Obama running this year, thus getting uss to the polls in droves. Hopefully the Dem turnout in November will be sky high.

      Now, where’s that rabbit’s foot?

  15. April 5, 2016 at 10:26 pm

What WI is showing is that these primaries are pretty predictable. Bernie wins caucuses and all white states with open primaries. Hillary wins big states with diverse populations with closed primaries where only Dems are voting. To date Bernie has not won a single closed primary state. Next up, NY, PA, MD, Conn, DE. All closed primaries, three of which are big states with big diverse populations, which Hillary will win handily. It should be clear on Apr. 26 that the nomination is hers, and the media will finally start saying it.

The last 10 days this month, PBO will be extremely busy.

Apr 21 – Saudi Arabia for GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council)
Sometime between GCC and Hanover Messe in Germany PBO will be in London re: #Brexit
Apr 25 (guessing) – Hanover Messe in Germany
Apr 29 – International Jazz Day

Dudette posted FLOTUS’ commencement speech schedule yesterday and she’ll be in Santa Fe on May 26, which is the same day the G7 convene in Japan. Disappointed that she won’t be able to join PBO as he visits Vietnam and Japan (that we know of — as long as he’s in Asia, wouldn’t be surprised to other countries added to his itinerary.

“CONOWINGO — Residents of at least two communities awoke Sunday morning to find an invitation at their door to join the Ku Klux Klan.
Callers to the Cecil Whig — who wished to remain anonymous for fear for retribution — reported reactions to the photocopied missive that ranged from shock to sadness to anger.

“This is not what I want for my community,” said a Port Deposit mother of six. “It’s really, really upsetting.”

“My 4-year-old was very upset,” the woman said, adding her youngest doesn’t understand “why anyone would want to hurt someone else based on the color of their skin.”

Her 6-year-old called it a bad dream.

I just finished reading an article by some apparent apologist that’s headined “Yes, Bernie Sanders Know Something About Breaking Up Banks”. It goes on to say that the NYDN Sanders “does appear to get tangled up in some details and lacks clarity.” …”But, taken as a whole, Mr. Sanders’ answers seem to make sense.”

Wow, there’s a ringing endorsement. He goes on to analyse each sentence practically of the answer. It sounds like he’s trying to decode what Sanders said and take a good guess at what he meant.

“Sanders: You would determine is that, if a bank is too big to fail, it is too big to exist. And then you have teh secretaryof Treasury and some people who know a lot about this, making that determination. If the etermination is that Goldman Sachs or JPMorgan is too big to fail, yes, they will be broken up”

And the comment is: “Mr. Sanders is mostly cogent here.” Although he still hasn’t answered the question of how that might happen. And pardon me if I want a president who is more than ‘mostly cogent’ about his signature issue.

    He finishes up with:
“But, taking the interview as a whole, as well as his piast positions, that does not appear to be the path he favors.”

He is trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear I think. It really reminds me of someone trying to make the case that the grandpa is not as senile as he seems. By the debate they’ll probably have him word perfect.

When I mentioned up thread the length of the article and the need of the reader to read with understanding and not just skim it I said I was afraid the average voter would not take away the gist of the article that Bernie does not know how to fix the problems he complains about or which political body has that power. My fear is that the article will be reinterpreted for the reader incorrectly and whitewash the final line while the people will gladly believe the interpretation. Bingo!

      • April 10, 2016 at 3:44 pm

I thought that article and another one I read trying to mitigate the disaster were very weak tea, OG. I know that Sanders devotees will swallow it hook, line, and sinker, but I think it will give some supporters reason to reconsider their support.

Now we move on to the primary nights of Apr. 19, and Apr. 26. Bernie picks up maybe 10-15 tonight. The gap is still wide and time is running out for him. Each night he underachieves the target the next night he has to reach higher. When Hillary wins NY, PA, and MD by wide margins, it will be clear to all that the nomination is decided. As it is clear to me that it is already decided. In the meantime the media is finally circling Bernie, after his disastrous interview with the NY Daily News. They realizes what a fake he is, a paper tiger, and he won’t be able to distract and run away.
