I second that one. Congrats on 1st Jackie 4 Obama. And I agree with you. They have been really busy this trip a little down time will do wonders for them all. Thanks Nerdy for posting the pic so fast.
Mark Knoller sounds like he’s beginning to realise that he concentrated on food instead of his best ever President. Maybe the GOP pretenders have brought him into the real world.
Shame Trump didn’t run in 2012 – then again, he knew he was well beaten at that time.
Here’s a (belated) response to your comment yesterday: http://theobamadiary.com/2016/03/23/the-president-and-first-ladys-day-in-argentina/#comment-1512548
[PBO is] “not the President of every other country, and he was on a diplomatic mission for ours, not simply there “to tango.” He kept to his schedule, while also addressing the situation in Brussels in both locations. Eff the people who grab for the first negative thing they can say about him.”
According to the media and GOP, Obama is responsible for governing Europe. He doesn't have the right to appoint a SCOTUS justice though.
This is a more interesting article, IMO:
“Belgium, by contrast, is a patchwork country divided between French and Dutch speakers and with multiple levels of government.”
Wikipedia says Bariloche is nestled in the southern Andes — so different than up in Peru-Chile region, where the Atacama Desert is the most arid on earth.
Had never heard of Bariloche until this week. What a great place to visit, and no doubt the Obama Family visit will encourage many others to do so.
When I bought my ticket to D.C. today, I talked with my travel agent/friend, and he agreed that he expects tourism to Cuba to explode. I mentioned I would like to go to Argentina too. I’ve seen some great travel shows about Argentina, and seeing these pictures today, I would love to go. I got an email from Smithsonian tours and they have one to Argentina that includes Bariloche…..a fair bit of money,, but the trip looks great. Globetrekker and Rudy Maxa have both been to Argentina…..near the part where Bariloche is. I imagine some people will go there this year instead of Europe, with the possible dangers in Europe. I hope the Obamas get to return, just totally for fun in a couple years.
Looking at all the lovely pictures and noticing the SS & just thinking – how PBO keeps the SS fit with all that he does – cf hanging around the ranch in W times.
THE SS NEEDS TO BE ON THEIR TOES AT ALL TIMES AND NEVER EVER OVERLY CONFIDENT!…PRAYING FOR SAFE AND WONDERFUL FAMILY FUN! PLEASE TELL THE ENERGIZER NOT TO TRY ANY OF THOSE TANGO FREE FALLS OFF OF THOSE MOUNTAINS!..WE WANT HIM IN ONE PIECE..PREFERABLY STANDING!
Thanks for posting that link. And thanks to President Obama for his balanced foreign policy, and his visits to Latin America. Way back in the early 60s, I had a professor of Latin American history who said that the U.S. has ignored Latin America historically, and perhaps to its peril. This was before the Cuban revolution! President Obama is doing so much to rebuild our relationships around the world, and Latin America is a very important and very large part of the world. Americans tend not to pay much attention to any parts of the world except the U.S. and Europe and recently the Middle East. Thanks to PBO for bringing other parts of the world to the public’s attention. Very important. I remember “the disappeared” and the pictures of mothers crying.
i was a young adult when they used to show the mothers with pictures of their children walking in the public sphere wanting to know what happened to them. I think many were college students. They would just be picked up off the street. It was just horrific.
Yep – not too many world leaders could do that one with style – and not many world leaders would present the opportunity to one of their own. I really do wish he was the all omnipotent leader of the world.
mmm – I used to say stupid – but compared to the GOP pretenders I have decided they were quite intelligent people – other than lying about where they came from, calling all their sons the same name & refusing to register any children born before wedlock, causing some grief to those looking for said children.
Really loved it too Jacqueline, so refreshing to read a piece reflecting on the historic nature of the trip rather than the tripe we’ve got in the US media the last couple of days.
They cannot bear to see Pres Obama leave – one president walks him to his plane, clearly reluctant to see him leave; another drops in on his family dinner to say farewell…..again, I’m sure. 🙂
I hope they are enjoying themselves. They so deserve to be someplace where they are loved and appreciated.
Congrats on first, Quickdraw!
2 terms Jackie – they are much more loved in the US than the media would ever let you hear about.
Agree! And congrats on 1st!

🙂
Thanks, NerdyW. The First Family really does seem to enjoy hiking.
VC in a past thread I did wish you a Happy Birthday, but here is another one. Glad you had a wonderful downtime day. (((hugs)))
Thanks Roberta. Looks like I’m getting almost an entire week of wishes! ‘Who could ask for anything more.’ 😀 😀
🙂
GA/GE TODville.
Such spectacular beauty, what a wonderful place to hike — astounding views.
Did y’all see the videos Dudette posted on the previous thread? The music alone will lower your blood pressure.
Never posted a youtube video before, hope this works.
Are lingonberries in this video? If so, must really be like the Europeans Alps.
Here’s a longer video — the town looks so inviting:
Oh yay, copying and pasting video URL worked (pats self on back 😉 ). Thanks Dudette for posting!
Did y’all see these tweets about Bariloche?
Thanks for posting all that!

wow…look at those mountains…does anyone know the name of the mountains…
I like to call them “Obama Peaks.” ❤

Is it dawning on US media and GOP RWNJs that the murderers in Paris and Brussels are EU citizens, not refugees who fleeing from terrorists?

Thanks so much for this! I had seen one of the tweets earlier.

i thought that they may have been the Andes Mts…
Good job! 😄
How wonderful to see them relax a bit. They deserve every minute of it.

FINALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY…NO TIE!
I hope that they have some good family time together.
Once again, thanks TOD for the coverage 🙂

how tragic…The Disappeared:
after the President de-classified the documents…there will be a great gnashing of teeth…
i was a young adult when they used to show the mothers with pictures of their children walking in the public sphere wanting to know what happened to them. I think many were college students. They would just be picked up off the street. It was just horrific.
..it just might be higher
Gallop Questions
1. Did you know PBO was dancing in Argentina yesterday while Europe was searching for terrorists
2. Do you approve of the job PBO is doing
hahaha 99…i suspect that folks will be watching the video for awhile….PBO is fearless
Yep – not too many world leaders could do that one with style – and not many world leaders would present the opportunity to one of their own. I really do wish he was the all omnipotent leader of the world.
Thanks a milllllllllllllllllllllllllllllion Nerdy!!!
🙂
Last I saw he was in Cuba! He could fly free forever if the government gave out frequent flyer points!
Another amazing member of the Obama administration!
Times like this I celebrate the Irish roots 🙂
😆 Whaddaya mean “times like this”? You should be celebrating those roots every waking moment!!1!1!
You’ve heard about my Irish guys – hard act to celebrate – I do try.
Ah yes, forgot they were shady!! 🙂
mmm – I used to say stupid – but compared to the GOP pretenders I have decided they were quite intelligent people – other than lying about where they came from, calling all their sons the same name & refusing to register any children born before wedlock, causing some grief to those looking for said children.
Definitely a step up from US republicans
THIS!!!!!!!!
That’s just beautiful, Chips.
Really loved it too Jacqueline, so refreshing to read a piece reflecting on the historic nature of the trip rather than the tripe we’ve got in the US media the last couple of days.
Nothing but tripe with our media. It’s beyond the pale.
Isn’t that nice of Pres. Macri and his wife. I’m surprise President Castro didn’t fly over to say good-bye. 🙂
yes it is…rather extraordinary when you think about it
Damn, that’s when you are looking toward a real relationship. That’s amazing and sweet
I’m still surprised that Prime Minister Trudeau ever went back to Canada! 🙂
😆😆😆
Two questions, I hope someone can answer. Have the First Family return to Buenois Aires yet? And what time will they leave for Washington D.C?
Nice!
They cannot bear to see Pres Obama leave – one president walks him to his plane, clearly reluctant to see him leave; another drops in on his family dinner to say farewell…..again, I’m sure. 🙂
SWEET!!
Now that’s a classy move. Love it.
The world rather likes @petesouza also 🙂
I’m definitely SOLD!
I love that they acknowledge the source of the pictures – while the WHPC whinge & whine about access.
(I’m totally kidding here) The Obamas can’t shake these people! ❤
😆 They’ll probably stowaway themselves on Air Force One!
Or join The Obama Diary!
😆 I’ll keep an eye out for newbies!!!
Possible assumed names for them: “Barack Obama’s friend” and “Michele Obama’s friend.” (Just trying to be helpful. 🙂 )
Or they might choose names that are so obvious we’ll say, ‘na, it’s not them’ – like Mr Macri and Mrs Macri?
Ha. You’re probably right on that! Who’d believe it?
BFFs!!!!
They’ll be to D.C. before the Obamas leave the White House.
