{Nathk} Not late, I still have some precious minutes left in my day, so your wishes are very timely. THANKS! 🙂
VC, a very happy belated Birthday. I hope you had a great day yesterday!
I definitely did, Terri…. Thank you.
Glad to hear that. I really like the card the Californian TODer’s & friends sent you.
It was for sure a pretty and unexpected treat!
A completely gorgeous collection of photos, thank you Nerdy, that took a serious amount of work – legend!

I do expect him to fly one day.

Tweety is talking up Sanders tonight. It was funny when MSNBC played their vote music theme only to reveal upon poll closing It was too early to call. Why bother? No kidding? Too early to call? Hahaha. Of course that upon one minute after closing time it would be too early to call.
Nerdy, Nerdy, Nerdy!! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Talk about knocking it out of the park!! You are The Awesome One! Thank you! ❤
Thanks for all of the goodness NW. I think Raul Castro really enjoyed hanging out with the Obamas today. He even walked the family to AF1. 🙂
🙂
🙂
toe to toe coverage. thanks, bt & ut.
🙂
so, raul speaks english? … or the kenyan the spanish?
Not sure. I saw a woman translator with him.
Just glorious photos from Cuba! Thanks a million.
🙂
Awesome threads all day Chips & NW!
As an avid White Sox fan…this is the story President Obama spoke about today with Karl Ravich:
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=14997969
…and a beautiful video/narration by Doug Glanville, who was also part of the broadcast team:
Wow, thanks, LP! I am so loving the words of Marti.
My pleasure, Meta!

More on the theme of “light” from the NYT Editorial Board
“President Obama began his speech to the Cuban people on Tuesday with humility and grace. “Cultivo una rosa blanca,” he said, reciting the opening line of one of the most famous poems by José Martí, the island’s national hero. “I plant a white rose.” It was an inspired way of extending an olive branch to a neighboring nation with which America has feuded for more than half a century. Mr. Obama made a compelling case that the ties that bind Cuba and the United States are more powerful than their differences. “I have come here to bury the last remnant of the Cold War in the Americas”…..Leading Cuban dissidents who met with Mr. Obama at the American Embassy after the speech described his visit as a transformational moment. “It was the speech we and millions of Cubans yearned to hear,” José Daniel Ferrer, the leader of Cuba’s largest dissident group, the Patriotic Union of Cuba, said in an email. “It was a light in the dark.”
I thought his speech was so beautiful and very lyrical/poetic in some parts. This article seems to recognize the magnificence of the entire effort to make this day happen. I’m blown away by the significance of all that’s happened in all realms, all walks of life.
It really is a shame that the horrific events in Belgium overshadowed the historic 72-hrs in Cuba, culminating in that incredible speech & the scenes that surrounded the baseball game.
I don’t know if you saw this article I posted earlier, but it really moved me…made me feel like I was a Cuban citizen sitting on a couch in Havana, watching President Obama give that wonderful speech: https://t.co/UgLeKAFi2D
Wow, no I hadn’t seen it. Thx so much. It’s a great peek into how an ordinary family viewed the events. Really great.
🙂
Might be too much cloud here to see the moonrise, but remember there is a penumbral eclipse at moonset tomorrow – 8:01 am ET, 5:01 am PT
Watching it coming over the mountain out my window. It is so beautiful.
Happy Birthday VC! I hope you had a wonderful day!
I did (am having), Wanda. TY
Keep in mind the YouGov & Ipsos polls are all internet & are off by ~10% compared to the national averages every time but PBO keeps rising!
I can think of quite a number of us who never fell OUT of love, rather the opposite! Then again, we are pretty special in the realm of Light and Love and Blessing!
Author obviously not a TOD regular, MP 😎
Obviously
This thread is a feast for the eyes, mind and soul! 🙂 Thanks Nerdy for your and Chips’ STELLAR coverage of our First Family’s historic visit to Cuba. The Cuban people were so gracious with their welcome, and I don’t think I’ve eve seen Raoul Castro smile so much. This is the hope and change we voted for! Yes we did.
🙂
Hello Nerdy! Thank you so much for this marvelous post! The President’s speech to the Cuban people brought tears to me.Without TOD I probably would have missed it. Thank you also for all your other fabulous posts.
Thanks so much, Nath!
HF2, I wholeheartedly second your comment! Once again, Chips and Nerdy Wonka have been incredible in covering our President and his gorgeous family’s historical visit to Cuba. I am an oldie so the President’s visit to Cuba was very special to me. There are four events that I never expected to see in my life-time: 1. The freeing of Nelson Mandela; 2. The end of Apartheid in South Africa and the election of Black Presidents; 3. The Election of a Black man as the President of The United States; 4. The President of the United States going to Cuba and being able to directly address the Cuban people.Only a close minded and hateful person would refuse to acknowledge President Obama’s transformational leadership. For me, PRESIDENT Obama has delivered more hope and change than I ever though would be possible in my lifetime.
Chips, NW – THANKS so much for today and every day. Another magnificent round-up to another historic day. BRAVO to you both and everyone here.

This was food – you do eat, don’t you? I was so sure you would have the answer as I’ve acquired all these seeds. The mention of India as a home for the thing perked me right up. Hmmm, I wonder if LPlains will have a recipe?
lp is not a desi. despite his claims.
might be he’ll be more observant then on this important issue
well, good luck with that quest of yours.
okay (of course you could have asked either wifey or d unit, but noooooo). I bet d-unit knows tamarind’s medicinal uses!
both are 350 klicks away …. and I can’t shout. If I did and if I could, wifey unit will most likely know the secret. she’s the odd one, who collects all kindsa odd home made recipes.

Glad you could get that all out, meta. 🙂 ❤
Hahahaaaaa!
Also glad we’re on the same side! I want you in my court.
Always, chica!
Wasn’t the comparison by Lindsey Graham whether you died by poison or gunshot?
Great, great tweet, Meta!
A far-right German politician has been rescued by refugees after he crashed his car in a tree, German media report.
Two Syrian nationals provided first aid to National Democratic Party (NPD) member Stefan Jagsch who was injured in the accident in Hesse state, DPA news agency said.
It said the refugees – who happened to be passing at the time – had left by the time police arrived.
NPD members have taken part in a series of anti-immigrant marches in Germany.
However, regional NPD official Jean Christoph Fiedler praised the two refugees for “a very good, humane act”, the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper reported.
Germany’s constitutional court is currently considering whether to ban the NPD.

Here’s How You Know 2016 Is Already Decided
The most decisive phase of the election has passed; and it’s not looking good for the GOP.
Certainly must never rest until it’s completely over. We have to work hard for every vote and keep the pressure on, but this is how I believe that things will all play out. Here’s hoping anyway:)
Chips, Danny is doing a damn skippy job with his commands! NOT! 🙂 Work to do…
Thank you for pausing to share birthday wishes with me, Df. 🙂 🙂
Anytime, dear one:) Hope you had a birthday worthy of you! {{{VC}}}
more than 😀 😀 😀
Impossible:)
Let’s review. Today, there was a devastating terrorist attack in Brussels. Also, today, Trump threatened to “spill the beans” on Cruz’s wife after Cruz apparently used lingerie photos of Trump’s wife in one of his ads; I heard Cruz says we should seize and patrol “Muslim neighborhoods” in our country; Kasich thinks the President should have returned to Washington, D.C. – which, apparently he believes, is the only place where there are any communications devices available to the President – to address what happened in Brussels …
… and President Obama fully addressed what happened in Brussels, from Cuba – where he also gave a meaningful address made available to 11 million Cubans, during his historic trip. Oh, and, he had President Castro applaud his speech.
So glad I’m a Democrat.
This!
Believe Raúl Castro saw the President and his family off at the airport today, to continue their journey.
Did any RWNJs mention THAT? Or did they just cover the fact he wasn’t at the airport when the President first arrived.
Yuck.
Before you even ask, No Cuba; Canada and australia all ready called dibs on PBO post white house. Haha!
Whew! Glad you thought of that!!!!
Tell it, FLOTUS
Steve Schmidt on MSNBC (gag) just said Utah is where he resides now. Remind me never to go there. Poor Utah.
That’s the Pope’s home country. They’re crossing paths again. Glad both of them, the peacemakers, are on the global scene at the same time!
Ah yes! Excellent point, j’ob!
UNICEF could have used a photo of a young child from Flint, Michigan, in that tweet, sad to say. And from other U.S. cities.
I was gettin’ to it! 🙂
I’ll check ’em out!
(Tired brain here, but didn’t want the day to end without sending you a greeting!) (Not that I want to instigate anything by this, of course. Ha.)

Thanks:) I figured Trump…because, you know…Hate State….Glad to see those with a brain and critical thinking skills chose Hillary:)
Hillary 60% to Bernie’s 37%
Trump 46% Cruz 21%
Nice to see Hills on top of the heap
Yes, it is, but how could anybody hate so much that they’d destroy our country and vote for TRUMP? I’ll never get that.
Of course, the same yokels voted for W twice. OMG.
Couple low information voters and uneducated people = Trump voter
Guess that’s what living in a democracy gets you. Unfortunately, we all have to suffer for their lack of consciousness.
ironic how the goplitico calls the xenophobic racist as the real estate mogul.
