First Lady Michelle Obama and Malia with children of U.S. embassy workers after dedicating two magnolia trees and a bench, at a small park beside Ruben Martinez Villena public library in Plaza de las Armas, Old Havana, Cuba. The bench bears the inscription in English and Spanish “A gift to the people of Cuba from Mrs. Michelle Obama, First Lady of the U.S”
Thank you, Betsy. 😀 My day has been terrific. I went on the road, had a special treat, enjoyed the wishes of friends, checked out a major baseball game; quiet in the way I like quiet. 🙂
I always looked “mature” in my early adulthood and touted how young I was. Hit the “middle” years and was pretty silent about my age. Now in my mid 60’s I’m wearing each year as a badge of honor.
I did, 57F. I think I’ve always felt *mature* (friends called it ‘spoilsport’, ‘boring’ …) and have been generally silent about my age all along. I’m not quite at the badge of honour stage though I take pleasure in reminding the very young to ‘show respect for age’. 😉 😉
Hugs back at you! Yes, I’ve had a very good day – thank you for your scheming part in it. It was a pleasant surprise to enter an ongoing celebration , while I had been wondering if I should mention my day when I signed on, or suffer in participate with the Os in silence.
Ms. Nerdy W cannot thank you enough for these entrancing photos of our First Lady and Malia. And all these little ones!
Thank you for all that you contribute.
Thanks to everyone who brought these historic images to us during the First Family’s trip to Cuba.
Having a weepy day. It is all so incredible. Thanks Obama(s)!
Didn’t recall that Sandy Koufax threw in Cuba (read his autobiography eons ago), but might not have been newsworthy then since it was probably pre-revolution.
If we had known each other back then, we would’ve been best friends!
He was my childhood hero, worshipped the air that he breathed.
Unfortunately I was in the San Diego area so never saw him pitch in person, but always listened to Vin Scully announcing Dodger games and was in tears/ecstatic when he pitched his no-hitters. (We would have been on the phone all night gushing and gossiping about the Dodgers, LOL.)
Remember the TV show Occasional Wife? Think Vin was the narrator for that.
We moved from a small town in Kansas to Glendora, my dad was a college profess or and my brothers and I were in college. We lived for the Dodger games and the Lakers. Loved going down to San Diego to the zoo. I loved listening to Vin Scully. Very distinctive voice. Don’t think I remember that show. Are you going to DC in June? Know when we meet we will have lots to talk about.
What a PERFECT gift, in a PERFECT location (public library, since President Castro said yesterday that Cubans value education above all else) — where is LL to gloat?
Tons of tweets in my timeline now…
The Grey Lady:
"It was the speech that we and millions of Cubans yearned to hear. It was a light in the dark." https://t.co/KteoZYR5ZY
Kasich’s demand reminds me of McCain’s rash decision in 2008 to disband his campaign to go to the WH for a photo op all about a in responding to the economic crisis. Same vein, old school tactics before modern communications. Also like when Romney talked about needing more battleships and Obama got the sound bite mentioning horses and bayonets. The GOP lives in the past.
So you were on cake duty, Mme. S! Thanks kindly for this timely contribution; you gals/guys today have done a scrumptious job on my special day! THANKS!
On another topic: That tweet from John Kasich reminded me of a post on my FB page last night. Extreme crazy right-wing friend said only reason Kasich is still in the race is that George Soros is financing him and paying him to stay in. Huh???? Believe it to be a ‘serious’ post. I’ve seen a number of comments on that person’s post about George Soros. He gets blamed for a lot! SMH.
“As for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, she embodies the tactics that have eroded the ability of Democrats to once again be the party of the working class. As Democratic National Committee chair she has opened the floodgates for Big Money, brought lobbyists into the inner circle and oiled all the moving parts of the revolving door that twirls between government service and cushy jobs in the world of corporate influence.”
THESE REPUGNANTS ARE AS SHALLOW AS A LOW PRESSURE TOILET………………THEY THINK THE ENERGIZER CAN’T CHEW GUM AND WALK AT THE SAME TIME!..SORRY I MISSED THE GAME 2DAY..DON’T ASK ME TO TRY TO HANG DRAPES AGAIN TODAY UNLESS I HAVE A LEFT HANDED HAMMER..I’M WEARING MORE BANDAIDS THAN A MUMMY..LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
Don’t know why Kaisch is trying to impress. Just cuz he had confetti raining on him for one win, does not mean crap. He is not going to come close to getting the nomination or being president.
Unending thanks to Ms Chips & Nerdy W. For the fabulous coverage of this historic Cuba trip! Congrats on first to Mighty P., & a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to dear VC! 🎉🍾🎂🎈❤️😘👍
❤
I hereby dedicate this first place podium to our dear friend and BurfdayGurl ~ VC!! it’s all yours now!
Very lovely of you, Mighty P!!! 🙂
Thank you, kindly. :- )
Happiest of the happy birthdays to you, vc!
Thank you, 57F. I can’t believe how fast time is flying; am wondering if I should stop counting the b-days. 😀
Happy Birthday VC!!!! How was your day? What did you do to celebrate?
Thank you, Betsy. 😀 My day has been terrific. I went on the road, had a special treat, enjoyed the wishes of friends, checked out a major baseball game; quiet in the way I like quiet. 🙂
Sounds really nice!! You deserve it.
I always looked “mature” in my early adulthood and touted how young I was. Hit the “middle” years and was pretty silent about my age. Now in my mid 60’s I’m wearing each year as a badge of honor.
Hope you had a wonderful birthday.
I did, 57F. I think I’ve always felt *mature* (friends called it ‘spoilsport’, ‘boring’ …) and have been generally silent about my age all along. I’m not quite at the badge of honour stage though I take pleasure in reminding the very young to ‘show respect for age’. 😉 😉
Or to be more blunt: “I’m old. Be nice.”
Exactly. 😀 Tho they always say ‘You’re not old’. To which I respond, “I’m older than *you*.”
👑
There she is! Happy Birthday evening, dear VC!
And a fine evening it has *be-ing*! Many thanks, dear Bard-ess of TOD. 🙂
* Yes, Amk, I do know there is no such word.
Tell him, VC! I mean … uh. 🙂 🙂 🙂
😀 😀
We finished it all; that’ll teach you to be on time….I hope.
I’ve been meaning to ask you A L L day – Do you eat tamarind seeds and would you recommend them?
tama what?
smh – #dontyouknownothing? India was mentioned somewhere in my research as one of its country of origin.
look on the bright side (always). I make a mean omelette. always.
😯 a tamarind omelette? Wow, mean or otherwise, that I’d try!
also. too. I iz not late.
You’re late. The day is almost over here and it’s over there, and I ought to be offended.
sez the b’day gal who turned up purdy late for her own b’day partay.
#all your fault – you didn’t tip me off so I was strolling around in Toronto with nothing much planned.
VC, I hope you’ve had a glorious birthday with many, many treats and a chance to chill out and enjoy each minute.
I am so blessed, JackieG. Ihave had a singularly pleasant day, and I thank you for sharing in it! 🙂

I second that! Thank you Nerdy! I wanted a closer look at this event when I saw the tweet on the last thread.
🙂

Thanks to everyone who brought these historic images to us during the First Family’s trip to Cuba.
Having a weepy day. It is all so incredible. Thanks Obama(s)!
Ben Rhodes tweeting from AF1? 🙂
@MattyMoe55 is in good company! 😀
Didn’t recall that Sandy Koufax threw in Cuba (read his autobiography eons ago), but might not have been newsworthy then since it was probably pre-revolution.
I loved watching Sandy Koufax. We attended all his home games. Going to games back then was so cheap.
GE MTM.

Wow! Thanks for these!
OH, JOY:
Dear Kasich, you mean like he has been doing for the last seven years.
And why the negative drumbeat from GOP and MSM won’t (if Dems don’t drop the ball):
#AnotherWannabe ….
back to work …..

Just had to say thank you, once again …
Now back to work 🙂
Perfect, Bob! And he does display “fearless courage” – better than anybody!
You go, girls!!
Squeeeeeeeee! ❤ ❤ ❤
Just listen to that crowd!
Doves released! OMG.
When you think that the ignorant people and racists in your base are the majority in the world, that’s what you say:
Hay Trump the last time the President listen to you, was NEVER.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As if this roll of bumwad would have any clue
Hope I’m not too late to wish VC a happy birthday! Here is a special cake in honor of your Bday and PBO’s history making day 🙂
Well I’ve been waiting all day for her to show up so I can get her dancing. Guess we’ll just have to dance ourselves!
Hope she sees this eventually!
Happy Birthday VC! 😀
I’m here and have already watched the dancers (and not envying the females their high heels).
Thanks so much for being a part of my celebration, D-ette!
Hey thereBirthday Girl! Now we can party!
Happy Birthday!!!!
Huff – puff…tha …huff…. nks….puff!

Yes it has been, thank you, TnMG.
Interesting article by Bill Moyers and Michael Winship about Rahm Emanuel and one of TOD’s favorite people, Not! None the less, an article I think all of us would agree with.

My recommendation (posted at TOD previously):
See the picture of Malia and Sasha just laughing up a storm. The media won’t show that one.

Looks like a perfect sunset for your birthday!
Never thought of that, JO’B ….. Wait, the sun can’t set yet on *my* day! I’m not ready yet for it to be over!
We’ll make it a figurative sunset, honey bunch!
Much obliged. Phew! 😀
Yes, I think we’re all in agreement about Kasich and his whining.
Don’t know why Kaisch is trying to impress. Just cuz he had confetti raining on him for one win, does not mean crap. He is not going to come close to getting the nomination or being president.
Ha! Confetti! Yeah, I think some of it mixed with his brain. He’s so full of himself, I expect him to explode soon.
Hell Kasich can’t even stop Donald Trump.
bella – do you tweet? If not, can I borrow that?
jacquelineoboomer, No I don’t tweet, and yes you can borrow it.
I took your silence as a yes.
I have no problem with you using it.
I did – and gave you the credit! Thanks!
Unending thanks to Ms Chips & Nerdy W. For the fabulous coverage of this historic Cuba trip! Congrats on first to Mighty P., & a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to dear VC! 🎉🍾🎂🎈❤️😘👍
Why, thank you, AG! It’s been a special day for me for sure!
So glad to hear it, VC! ❤️😀
Excellent coverage of a historic moment, bt & ut.
^ THIS!
Apparently, Trump thinks Belgium is a “city.”
Well finally the guest of honor is here! Let us now shake our bodies, baby! 🙂
Oops, this is meant to Birthday Girl, VC! 🙂
😀 😀
I don’t usually post cat pix, but this is hysterical.
talk about gaggle of grumpy cats.
Looks like something’s keeping ’em from a good sleep!
vc? … must be vc.
Maybe they weren’t invited to the party?
heck, she didn’t even invite herself to her party.
I think she’s had many parties – we might be the ones not invited to all, ya think?
possible. who knows with these crazy canoooks?
Funny she hasn’t interjected something by now!
oh, we all know she’s the ‘silent one’.
Too funny, VC. Looks like enough.
😉
Poor bird!
Geeks:
I used to be able to easily download gifs from twitter and now I can’t. Did they change their embedding code? Anybody have a solution?
Yeh I haven’t been able to figure that out either. Best I’ve come up with is trying to search for the gif on Google and downloading it from there..
Oh, that’s one solution. Thanks dd.
OMG.
New post.
