It’s ironic isn’t it, Nena, that people are appreciating our President now when he has only a few months left. I guess they’re looking into the jaws on insanity on the Republican side and realizing that they’ve had a very good deal these last seven plus years.

        GE JackieG.

GOP are digging their own grave. They are helpless as an unscrupulous, lying Reality TV personality hijacks their party into oblivion. After 2016 pundits will need a new acronym to replace the clearly inaccurate “Grand Old Party.”

Symmetry, either they’re not paying attention or they think outright bigotry and thuggish behavior are all okay qualifications for the US presidency.

In the Entrepreneurship event, the Cubans took the opportunity to share their stories or personal circumstances with POTUS and not ask questions. Maybe they were afraid of the Invisible Eye watching their moves. I don’t get it.

    • March 21, 2016 at 8:48 pm

I was wondering that myself. The event was for them to ask questions and not one of them did.

I respect the entrepreneurs who went up and told President Obama about their businesses and answered his queries and accepted his suggestions. They know their country restrictions. Bravo to them for stepping up and speaking with PBO.

I am also thinking that, perhaps, a question-answer forum is not something they are used to. This may be brand new. Besides, they may be intimidated by POTUS.

And so it was thirty years later, on that day in December 2013, that these two leaders – who had very little in common other than their admiration for Nelson Mandela – shook hands and changed the trajectory of the relationship between our two countries. I suspect that Madiba would approve.

I’m sorry if this has been posted. I haven’t been able to catch up yet. Well, I had heard that Sanders said that he would have nominated a more liberal judge – big surprise – but I was shocked to hear that if elected, he would ask President Obama to withdraw his nominee’s name so that Sanders could name someone. And I was DOUBLE shocked that he said he would nominate someone only if they said they promised to vote to overturn Citizen’s United and would make it the first order of business! There is so much wrong with that I can’t even. I say again, for a person who has been in government for 50 years, he is really IGNORANT about how our government works. He said the nominee would have to pass his litmus test – LITMUS TEST! He really said ‘litmus test’ on Citizens’ United. That he would criticize the head of ‘his’ party’s nominee, that he would ask him to withdraw his nominee’s name, AND that he said out loud he would make putative judges pass a litmus test is beyond belief. So apparently as well as all the ignorance of how the Supreme Court works, in addition to the profound disrespect to the black guy who is the president, he must ALSO believe that the Republicans will be happy to nominate a MORE LIBERAL JUDGE who will overturn their pet project. Ignorance doesn’t even cover it, Profound, blind, stupidity doesn’t cover it. I wonder what Rachel Maddow thinks of him now. So if this has been posted I apologize, but thank you for giving me the opportunity to vent.

“Senator Sanders told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow that, “I think I’m 100 percent prepared to support Judge Garland. I think he’s clearly very knowledgeable and can serve ably on the Supreme Court. But, there are more progressive judges out there.” Sanders insists that any Supreme Court nominee would have to meet his litmus test that entails “being loud and clear that he or she will overturn the disastrous Citizens United Supreme Court decision.” So there it is again; expecting a prospective SCOTUS justice to publicly make a political pledge to overturn a prior Court decision that is not before the court as if there is not a regular established process for the nation’s High Court to hear a case.”

“Likely surprised at the presidential candidate’s naïveté, and audacity, Sanders was asked specifically if he would directly ask President Obama to withdraw Judge Garland’s name, forsake his Constitutional authority and duty as President, to allow Bernie Sanders to nominate a judge because they pledged in advance to overturn a previous SCOTUS ruling; the Vermont senator said, “Yes I would.” ”

Fortunately for all of us, Mary, Bernie’s never going to be making a decision about who he will appoint to the Supreme Court.

      • March 21, 2016 at 10:09 pm

Truth. But I’m just shocked at the massive ignorance he betrays. I’m far from a legal scholar but even my eyes went up when I saw the words “litmus test”. ‘

What is surprising to me is that Bernie, who has been in Congress for more than twenty years has such a lack of knowledge about what can and cannot be done. I understand Donald’s lack of knowledge not having been a legislator, but Bernie’s lack of knowledge brings him down to the same dangerous level as the Donald. Both, yes and Cruz too have such egos they think they can do whatever they want. Rachel and Frank Rich said be careful what you wish for about Dems thinking having Trump as our opponent would be a good thing.

      • March 21, 2016 at 11:50 pm

That’s what stuns me too, Obama Grandmama. How can he sit in Congress all these years and still not know as much as an eighth grade civics student?
