Oh, Lord – the whining has begun. “No guts, weak. Moderate candidate.”

“I want a woman of color.” “I want an Asian-American!”

    I want, I want, I want……..

Frankly, I thought he’d go bolder but this is PBO: if there’s a chance in hell that we get a halfway decent nominee confirmed, let’s restore the Court to its full power.

The emoprogs would rather have the court in disarray.

Thank goodness we have a level-headed President who governs according to his principles, values and well-honed instincts, and is not given to whatever tantrum-of-the-week might be taking place.

If he is the nominee, I am sure the beans have already been checked and passed the muster.

the thugs will have their usual lie laced temper tantrums.

I’ve heard this guy’s name and that’s about it. If President Obama picked this guy well then it’s good enough for me. I’m not a court watcher, I’m not in the know, but President is. So I trust his judgement.

      March 16, 2016 at 11:20 am

PBO is a very level-headed and thorough decision maker. He’s sending a message loud and clear with just that sentence…”Merrick brought the OKC bomber mcveigh to justice by meticulously following the evidence and law”.

yes- that was unexpected- his reaction and really showed his humanity, I think. I was very touched by everything he said. And most of all, the President making it clear, that this judge is all about the law and not bs political crap. That is was the Supreme Court was meant to be. Each day I think I couldn’t love and respect him more, and he makes me a liar 🙂

  37. March 16, 2016 at 11:31 am

I like that guy the president just nominated… Seems like a super nice guy.

      GM jojovie (or just jovie?).

Couldn’t agree more. What a nice man, what a compelling life story — you can tell that he’s not motivated by greed/corporations if he cherishes Mother Nature and the National Park Service.

Another PBO speech for the ages, probably will zoom to #1 in history and stay there FOREVER. 🙂

  39. March 16, 2016 at 11:33 am

    Good choice by POTUS.

  40. March 16, 2016 at 11:34 am

Judge Garland has a terrific biography.

  41. 92 CEB
    March 16, 2016 at 11:35 am

I have tears in my eyes; what a good man Judge Garland is and what a master choice by PBO. Only hate and unbridled partisanship can keep this eminently qualified man from being confirmed. We have a absence on the court that must be filled to deal with the current cases before it. Our democracy depends upon the three levels of government working. It is way past time for childish minds to get in its way.

I’m ashamed to say it but I went to #thatsite…and Bernie supporters are ACTUALLY ready for a Trump presidency…they’re like “oh it won’t be so bad he’d actually govern from somewhere in the middle” these are the same assholes that were FURIOUS with PBO because they thought HE was governing from the middle. But the white dude who incites violence against minorities? Eh….let’s wait to see what he’ll do. Unfuckingbelievable.

It sounds like Judge Garland has been surrounded by women- mother, sisters, wife, daughters… I think this must bode well for women’s issues.. long as they fall within the “rule of law”. I’m not as thrilled by his previous profession as prosecutor, but that’s just my own thing. He sounds like a very fair and frankly as non-partisan as a judge could possibly be. I never doubt POTUS’ thinking or decisions.

Amazing introduction for an pretty amazing judge! The Republicans don’t want to hear from this nominee, not because they think they will find something wrong with him, but that they won’t. They need to get their phones blown up. I will do my part today. These jackasses wrote the book on playing politics. With everything!

    Morning everyone:)

    Hello…

I think I finally figured out why NBC kept Brian Williams. They think his inane jokes are funny, but they are NOT!

Didn’t PBO say that they are leaving on vacation or whatever tomorrow for two weeks? Maybe we should wait to bombard them during their ‘vacation’ when it’s (remotely) possible they might be in their office? Maybe.

  49. March 16, 2016 at 11:46 am

I wasn’t sure I wanted to watch this presentation today…….so much swirling around the announcement. However, I’m so glad I did. This president does not disappoint. I found the president’s statement to be amazing and emotional. He truly told us why he nominated Judge
Garland in dramatic terms and why the process needs to go forward as constitution describes. President Obama is one for the ages!

No one tells personal stories to make a point like President Obama. He and Merrick Garland totally won me over on why this nomination is the wisest choice.

      March 16, 2016 at 11:50 am

I actually saw people on Twitter who seemed initially displeased or at the very minimum puzzled by the nomination, come to change their minds after PBO and Judge Garland spoke. 🙂 The story-telling was a thing of beauty to witness and quite emotionally touching.

Quite the juxtaposition we have…the thoughtful President and the radical, reckless Republicans…

    Y’all listening to Turtle face?!?!?!?
