Why the heck (#^*&$^&#) is Daylight Saving Time happening now?
My memory may be faulty, but don’t recall it happening BEFORE O’Bama Day (aka St. Paddy’s Day).
Why the heck did Congress (or whoever) screw around with Standard/Daylight Time start and end dates? (In my day, could count on time changes the first weekend in April and the last weekend in October).
It’s ironic, Arapaho, that the one thing that Congress does do is mess up our schedules. I long ago stop trying to figure out the logic of the time change. I was loving the early morning light these last couple of weeks and now it’s dark again. Bummer.
The thing about egomaniacs like Trump is that they know no limits and have no internal controls. They think it, they say it and damn the consequences. Trump would love to have a war on the ground because it would pump up the adrenaline of his rabid crowds and bring out more of the angry and the disaffected. He wants to intimidate and bully, so nobody will dare to go up against his alpha maleness. He’s already said about HRC, “wait til I get to HER!” Nothing would make me happier than to see a woman defeat him!!!!
Bobfr, I have been saying all along that Trump supporters were racists. All of them might not be but most of them are. That is why it does not bother them what Trump does or say, because the only thing that matter to them is Trump is a racists like them.
If any American asks, “why did the German people let it happen?” they need only see this photo and the one of the women Trump supporter raising her arm in a “heil” salute. Pump up enough fear of the ‘other’ for a long enough time and there are some people who will gladly give up their humanity to punish the ones they fear.
A comedian on SNL last night said some people are saying the woman who raised her arm in a “heil” salute was “cute,” and others are saying she should “just go home and continue teaching the n-word to her parrot.”
She’s crazy, Trump’s crazy, and all his supporters are crazy. And vile and evil. I’m a pacifist, so I won’t wish harm on any of them. But karma’s a bitch, so I will continue to wait for it to stroll on in, one of these fine days.
I read that Brigitte is a naturalized citizen, born in, wait for it, Germany in the 40’s. The protester photgraphed next to her helped to make sure she and her husband made it out of the crowd safely and that ticked her off too. What a piece of work she is. I guess she just wanted to let them know that our Hitler wasn’t half the man their Hitler was and we were doing the salute wrong. Weird lady.
Yes, I wonder when Trump’s followers will realize his daughter converted to Judaism when she got married, and his future grandchild will be born Jewish. None of this anti-Semitic garbage seems to bother Trump, in the meantime.
Our President looks buoyant and happy at that podium as if he knows something we don’t. I wonder if this is the week he’ll make his Supreme Court announcement or if there’s some other great surprise in store for us. The great thing is that smile and that air of confidence drives Republicans nuts and throws them off whatever hideous game they’re intending to play and I’ve no doubt the President knows this.
Senator Sanders is, to say the least, not my favorite candidate for anything, but I give him credit for what he stated yesterday and want to be sure everyone here reads it:
“As is the case virtually every day, Donald Trump is showing the American people that he is a pathological liar. Obviously, while I appreciate that we had supporters at Trump’s rally in Chicago, our campaign did not organize the protests.
What caused the protests at Trump’s rally is a candidate that has promoted hatred and division against Latinos, Muslims, women, and people with disabilities, and his birther attacks against the legitimacy of President Obama.
What caused the violence at Trump’s rally is a campaign whose words and actions have encouraged it on the part of his supporters . He recently said of a protester, ‘I want to punch him in the face.’ Another time Trump yearned for the old days when the protester would have been punched and “carried out on a stretcher.’ Then just a few days ago a female reporter apparently was assaulted by his campaign manager.
When that is what the Trump campaign is doing, we should not be surprised that there is a response.
What Donald Trump must do now is stop provoking violence and make it clear to his supporters that people who attend his rallies or protest should not be assaulted, should not be punched, should not be kicked. In America people have a right to attend a political rally without fear of physical harm.”
That’s the truth, amk. It’s Bernie supporters who threaten violence against Hillary Clinton and who excoriate and demean anyone who doesn’t show devotion to their cult leader. Bernie needs to practice what he preaches and institute a zero tolerance policy on threatening violence among his campaign organizers and supporters. President Obama would not have tolerated that level of disrespect toward others for one second. His mantra was RESPECT, EMPOWER, INCLUDE. What part of that does Bernie not understand?

Morning arapaho:) Great site to save for info….thanks:) Happy Sunday everyone….if you don’t want the hate to be permitted in our lives as a matter of course, get involved for the good…contact your local Democratic Party and ask to register people to vote….it’s how we rise above:)
Absolutely……. Fortunately now in Oregon we have automatic registration for everyone with a driver’s license. And with vote by mail there really is no excuse not to vote. Still phone banks track who has not voted leading up to election day and will even pick up ballots manually and bring them to the county clerk.
I am an Oregonian and am happy about our mail-in ballots. I have already called my County courthouse to ask about my particular problem and received an answer. I have surgery scheduled the first part of May. I may be in the hospital or doing my two week stint in skilled care after surgery and miss the ballots arriving in the mail and the Election Day for our Primary. I was told to check my mail the Friday before my Monday surgery and if the ballot had not arrived to go to the Courthouse that day to pick up a ballot. I can take it with me and vote sending it in the skilled care center mail. Easy Peasy. I wish those states with all the new strict ID requirements had our system.
Based on tweets from Berniebots I’ve seen here and on my Twitter timeline, they pretty much like the sound of their own voices (much like their candidate) and don’t understand the concept of *listening* to someone with a different POV.
They also refuse to accept the (true) notion that low-info voters (which comprise the majority of US Presidential electorate) will not vote for a Socialist — at least 25% of voters who think the sun revolves around the earth won’t vote for a Dem, so a Democratic Socialist is even worse to their thinking).

I think Bernie supporters are just like Trump supporters, stupid idiots. There is no way you could compare Hillary to those racists bigots on the GOP side. Hillary is not perfect but she is not like Trump. These Bernie supporters claim to care about people. If President Obama didn’t win in 2008, I would have voted for Hillary.
Unfortunately, I have heard Black people talking like that. One of my good friends recently told me that Secretary Clinton is no different than Trump so she’s not voting. I tried to explain to her what was at stake in these elections, i.e., SCOTUS nominees, control of the Senate, etc. Not sure if she got what I was saying though. We may end up with a Trump Presidency if Sanders’ supporters sit out the general election.
I really hope that Senators Warren and Sanders and President Obama campaign really hard on Secretary Clinton’s behalf should she be our nominee. We cannot afford to lose to the Republicans in November. Anyone who argues that it’s okay for us to sit out the general election and let Trump win is not a Progressive or Liberal. Period.
Change comes slowly it is a slog and involves incremental steps. Sometimes we even go backwards then a couple steps ahead.
Some personalities especially the young as well as Bernie see change as a sudden change through a single action like comparing it to our Revolutionary War. The actions leading up to the war and organization to set a new country in action took time too. They do not think about how they can lose more than gained upon failing. They just think of repeating the same actions till they succeed. That mindset reminds me of the constant revolutions against dictators in third world countries.
Many of us here see change as slow, hard deliberate work through the existing laws including changing laws if necessary by changing who we vote for.
This is such a good article, the author is really talented, and should be required reading for all MSM who peddle “White Lives Matter” perspective (aka all national MSM):
LOL:
Make America Great, “not so different from the generic ‘Fix America’ sloganeering common to Presidential campaigns. (Jeb Bush went with this—’Jeb Can Fix It,’ which sounds more appropriate for a chain of automotive repair shops.)”
snip /
“On CNN, John King opined that many of the demonstrators had come ‘just to cause trouble’… pointed out the similarities between the images coming out of Chicago that evening and those of the chaotic 1968 Democratic Convention. This was a miscasting of history, and yet another demonstration of why the Republican establishment has been so inept in its attempts to contain the Trump phenomenon. It wasn’t the demonstrators who recalled the insurgent fury of Chicago in 1968, it was the masses of Trump supporters, fists clenched in a fervor to reroute the country’s trajectory, to seize it from those who’ve taken us down the path of national shame—to make America great again, even if they have to break a few eggs.”
snip /
“Polls conducted during the Obama era have consistently shown that large pluralities of whites believe that they, not blacks, Latinos, or Asian-Americans, are the primary victims of racism in contemporary America.”
Maybe Barack Obama saying “Black is beautiful” is what has gotten under the skin of the Trump supporters and some in the media. Now Barack Obama hasn’t come out and literally said that black is beautiful, but in so many ways that is what he has said to the black child that touched his hair in the oval office. Or the more recent picture of him touching the face of a little black boy during a Black History Month celebration in the white house.
Or maybe Trump supporters are just racist pigs and it doesn’t matter what President Obama has said or done. They hate him because he has Black skin. He doesn’t have to do anything to justify their hatred.
Poor, poor Tromples and new wife to be…
Black is incredibly beautiful. And clearly all the cash, tanning studios and botox can never bridge that gap.
Ooh.
The system is ridiculous, but it’s the system. Each state is different, but delegate totals can shift. Bernie’s campaign tweeted that Hillary was stealing delegates at the IA delegate convention, but he was trying to get more delegates himself. The count ended up exactly how it was after Hillary won the caucus. This is a good article on how this dumb system works.
Free people are not equal. Equal people are not free. (Think this one over and over…makes sense!)
“A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don’t have one, you’ll probably never need one again.”
The definition of the word Conundrum is: something that is puzzling or confusing.
Here are six Conundrums of socialism in the United States of America :
1. America is capitalist and greedy – yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized – yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims – yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government – yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer – yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about – yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century. Makes you wonder who is doing the math.
These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.
Funny how that works. And here’s another one worth considering…
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. But we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money ! What’s interesting is the first group “worked for” their money, but the second didn’t.
Think about it…..and Last but not least :
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to illegal aliens.
Am I the only one missing something?

Hello TOD. Happy Springing Up the Time Clock, One Hour Ahead Day 😉
I am so tired. It’s still warm. Another 60F today.
Congrats to all the Au ⭐ winners since last night.
TOD, Rocks!
I think Trump’s in Illinois today, the state where I live, and pretty much right around the corner. Can somebody give me a ride across the border? Really don’t want to walk on the same ground as that hater. Or breathe the same air.
For the folks who don’t like Hillary…there is nothing that she can do right…they want her to be perfect as of yesterday…yes she is flawed….but PBO accepted her as his SOS of state….nuff said for me
Just wanted to say a big “Thank you” to Chipsticks for allowing us to have a safe space to express our love and support of President Obama. This has been such a great website to visit, reminisce, and strategize about how to keep President Obama’s legacy going after he leaves office.
A big applause for all who are responsible for keeping this great website running so smoothly.
Any of you guys getting RW Judicial Watch Super Pace anti-Jane Kelly SCOTUS ads in their market? One led off MTP and another ended Face The Nation….It is a tough ad references her time as I’m assuming a public defender/defense lawyer (It ties her to a pedophile who “Jane Kelly doesn’t think is a threat to society) who later went and molested and killed a 5 yr old. Considering all the leaked reports of the list being cut down to 3 (and Judge Kelly not on it) I find it interesting that they would run expensive ads against her before anyone is even nominated….
I’m trying to figure out if it is a sign that she is the one they are scared of (also being unanimously confirmed & touted by Judiciary Committee Chair Sen. Grassley/ being from Iowa too) or this may be why President Obama may have taken her off the list. I still find it interesting that they are already running ads & them being on those shows make me think those were broadcast nationally 😕
Love it. On my 50th birthday, I was at work and looked out my office window (the kind where you could see out, but birds couldn’t see in … I hope), and saw 3 ravens sitting on the window ledge outside, looking like they were having a planning meeting. I was “quothing” the whole time. Thought it was an omen. Even scarier since my so-called friends had filled my office with black balloons that kept popping. #GoodTimes
Last night’s events in Chicago brought to mind the great 1838 address before the Young Men’s Lyceum of Springfield, Illinois, by the 29-year-old Abraham Lincoln, on “The Perpetuation of Our Political Institutions.”
Morning all.
Mooooooooorning Jackie!!
Hiya, Chips. Do you change clocks in your part of the world? I hate the fact that it was really dark this morning and we have to sacrifice dark mornings for longer afternoons.
Hiya Jackie, Ireland (and the less important UK) don’t change clocks until March 27, so there’ll be two weeks of complete confusion between the US and Ireland/UK, missed business conference calls, etc 🙂
Well, then, thanks for making the special effort it will take for the next two weeks to adapt to the crazy US time. It can’t be easy.
GM Jackie G, congrats for #1 (even amk missing yet another furst opportunity).
Bummer.
Good morning JackieG & Chips 🙂
So, now he’s threatening people …
Morning Sir Bob!! He truly is some piece of work.
Hi {{{{Chips}}}}
He’s a dangerous dude, for sure.
Did you see this Bob?
No, I hadn’t seen it, Chips. Horrible, but absolutely not a surprise.
RT’d it, immediately.
They don’t even try to hide their hate, when they attend a Trump rally they feel emboldened and let it all spew out. It’s terrifying.
Yes, it is terrifying Chips. Just as I was terrified during the era of George Wallace. No surprise, the correlation …
I wish I could say I was surprised by this correlation.
Bobfr, I have been saying all along that Trump supporters were racists. All of them might not be but most of them are. That is why it does not bother them what Trump does or say, because the only thing that matter to them is Trump is a racists like them.
Why should they? Trump and the GOP have made this acceptable
If any American asks, “why did the German people let it happen?” they need only see this photo and the one of the women Trump supporter raising her arm in a “heil” salute. And, as noted in the previous thread, that person and education have obviously never intersected in a meaningful, humanitarian way ….
Well done, Bob!
Ouch …
So the idiot walking out of that Trump rally is saying for Donald Trump’s daughter to go to Auschwitz.
Yes, I wonder when Trump’s followers will realize his daughter converted to Judaism when she got married, and his future grandchild will be born Jewish. None of this anti-Semitic garbage seems to bother Trump, in the meantime.

Exactly…… I have seen the most vile racist, woman-hating, pornographic language online from the Bernie Bros, even more than tea baggers.
I heard some of that, Bob, and Bernie Sanders did the right thing by expressing it.
Good Morning, Everyone 🙂

Hillary learned in 2008 that it is all about the math, Bernie thinks he can win the hearts and minds and it will take him to the white house.
And Senator Obama learned both, thus a smashing win—–2x ! Afternoon TOD.
This is exactly the personality of both to a T.
Good morning TODers….my contribution for today.
Conundrum:
“If you do not take an interest in the affairs of your government, then you are doomed to live under the rule of fools.” – Plato
IF we will not be governed by God, then we will be ruled by tyrants

Happy Sunday, meta, twitter warrior! I liked this reply to the one tweet you shared:
Happy Sunday, dearest Booms! That’s pretty funny. And true!

This!!!!!!!
RWers = always on the wrong page.
It does sound very unusual! Didn’t spot the ads, but they may, indeed, be national.
I just found a write-up/video on on the despicable anti-SCOTUS ad, JB:
Reprehensible and despicable! Effin’ RWNJs.
Makes me think the “final 3” leaked may be a head fake with all this attention to Judge Kelly 😕
Anything’s possible, since President Obama knows “the fools” and wouldn’t mind fooling them.
Ah, yes. Another extreme grasp of the obvious from a RWNJ.
BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA
