Good morning Chips!!
Continuing the ‘news you’ll only find at TOD’ from the bottom of the previous thread …. 🙂
Congrats Bob on 1st!!
Moooooooooooorning Sir Bob!!!!
Thank you Allison and good morning to you and to our dear Chips!!
bbl ……
Great news. Thanks, Bob.
Congrats on First, Bobfr!
Good Morning, Bobfr. Congrats on first!
Good morning. Congrats on #1 Bobfr. Good morning Ms Chips and all TODers.
Congratulations, Bobfr, and hearty thanks for all your informative posts!
Congrats, Doc on Your Solid Au ⭐
Good Morning Chips and TOD! What a fantastic state visit and dinner!!
Good idea!!
And, thanks to the “Obama Doctrine” we know it works!!
Oh My, this will not go down well with the Saudis.
GM Dr Bob, congrats on #1 (even amk must’ve been mixing himself a fine tonic when this thread opened 😉 ).
Am hopelessly behind here, was busy trying to keep up on yesterday’s spectacular Canada State Visit, don’t know most of what was posted yesterday… was there much discussion about @JeffreyGoldberg’s foreign policy interview with PBO?
Wish there were some way to wake up those who blindly check the box next to the name of a Republican candidate:
Truth: the Middle East is vital to US interests as long as the US is dependent on an outside source for electrical and transportation fuel.
More on “The Obama Doctrine” from yesterday:
I might have to watch…
I might, as well – although I haven’t watched any of those shows in years!
who took over Face the Nation after Schrieffer retired
Some guy. Ha! (I literally can’t remember his name, but at least it’s not still Bob S on there. Ugh.)
lolol
Why “Trump” and “best issues” are anywhere NEAR each other, escapes me…but…
Df, it’s unbelievable that people think Trump would be good on anything. He would destroy our economy within six months, cause untold hardship for anyone who’s not rich and involve us in endless international wars.
None so blind as those that refuse to see…..
Terrifying, Jackie.
I was thinking the same thing. I didn’t know Trump was good at anything except womanizing, making and then losing money and possibly manipulating our very tired media.
to be fair, so does Bernie and Trump does not have a best issue.
Morning lol. You’re welcome:)

Sen. Elizabeth Warren to Republicans: Do Your Job on a Supreme Court Nominee
She is a force in the Senate:) She called them out PERFECTLY! Most excellent shaming.
I tweeted her & @SenateDemocrats to cease the Floor of the Senate in Unison for 24hrs+ to Drum up their Points on Obstructionism, #SCOTUS Replacements & other Issues currently being denied Public Discussion. It takes Only One Senator to Cease the Control of the Senate Floor. Isolated Senate Floor speeches are great. I am not knocking it. However, The US News Media, GOP Congress, Talk Hate Radio & Fox are in the mindset of Only presenting Issues favorable to the GOP. Hence, Gun Control, Climate Change, Citizen United, Labor Issues, Voting, Income Inequality, etc are routinely ignored by the US Press.
Republican Threats and the Supreme Court
On Monday, John Cornyn, the senior Republican senator from Texas, warned President Obama that if he dares to name a successor to Justice Antonin Scalia of the Supreme Court, the nominee “will bear some resemblance to a piñata.”
.
.
Mr. Cornyn’s repellent remarks were, in this sense, an accurate reflection of the Republican mind-set. Piñatas are, after all, attacked by blindfolded children. The children don’t care how much damage they inflict as long as they get the prize in the end.
So was anybody over the age of 4 surprised that Republicans lied? It’s what they do. It’s all they do.
Well, we knew this. Will the media report it?
“NEW YORK The U.S. war in Iraq has cost $1.7 trillion with an additional $490 billion in benefits owed to war veterans, expenses that could grow to more than $6 trillion over the next four decades counting interest, a study released on Thursday said. Mar 14, 2013”
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-iraq-war-anniversary-idUSBRE92D0PG20130314
The money #GWB expended on his senseless, criminal war against Iraq would have been adequate to enable every girl on the planet to attend grade school, high school, and in many countries, college. If you think that is an exaggeration just divide $ 1.7 trillion by 65 million (estimate of number of girls not in school, globally). The result is $ 26,153.85. Now, multiply that by 3.53, i.e., by what happens if that $ 6 Trillion estimate proves to be true.
gotta get to work … have a fun day everyone …
#TrustBarack …. Author and implementer of the #ObamaDoctrine ….
For many men in this world, keeping girls from getting in education is worth any cost. They fear the power of women more than any thing on this earth.
I hope all goes well at the doctor’s, and for the rest of your day!

Good one:)
Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Friday morning. TGIF>> Congrats Bob, on being first this morning.
To all, I hope that you have a foot-stomping, heart-throbbing, and jolly good-time today. ❤ ❤ ❤
Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America. ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆
Reading your greeting always makes my day!
Maryl1, thanks for your encouraging comment. 🙏👍
Off to another doctor appointment. Hope everyone has a great day.

Warren: Senate GOP ‘paying the price for their own extremism’
———————————————-
Senator Elizabeth Warren talks with Rachel Maddow about how the past seven years of Republican anti-Obama extremism in the Senate has brought about the extremism in the 2016 Republican presidential campaign that now has Senate Republicans in a panic. Duration: 10:41

Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family.
GM GGail.
Saw that you were swamped yesterday and today too. 😦
Here’s a nice 2 minute recap of yesterday’s State Visit by PM Trudeau and Sophie:
Good morning Arapaho. Thanks! I hope to be able to view it sometime soon 😘
Yesterday was a diplomatic and environmental triumph! One snarky note, did Blake Lively forget to put on her dress and just wear her bathrobe to the state dinner?
Judith, I am right with you on that. Plus the slit in her skirt was so high, I thought she was planning on a separate show at her table.
Good Morning, Chipsticks…TODers!!!
This is a given, but: Don’t believe everything — anything — Donald Trump tells you… began his campaign for the presidency by reminding us that he was very, very rich. So rich, in fact, that he would be “self-funding” his campaign… *usually* means that he would — duh — personally pay all of his campaign’s expenses.
Not so.
The dude’s a con artist, as we know, so coming from him, “self-funding” means something entirely different.
Does it mean that Donald Trump doesn’t take money from super PACs? He accepted money from the Make America Great Again PAC, before disavowing it, and is now doing the same with something called TrumPAC…
Does it mean that he doesn’t accept donations from his supporters? According to a recent analysis by ABC News, a full third of Trump’s war chest is made up of individuals’ contributions. He’s not selling those hats for fun.
But all the rest of his campaign’s income is straight from Trump’s bank account, right? Only a tiny portion of the $17,534,058 Trump has given to his campaign is in the form of actual checks. The rest of it is in the form of zero-interest loans — millions and millions of dollars in such loans. And anything can be used to pay back zero-interest loans — even hat sales. As long as he raises the money he needs to pay himself back before Election Day, he will have paid barely anything at all for his supposedly self-funded campaign.
And here’s a big surprise: Sources at the Trump campaign recently told CNN that, should Donald become his party’s nominee, he will start fundraising like “a traditional party candidate.”
Good Morning, Everyone 🙂
Losing sight of the big picture and letting emotions drive actions that give short-term satisfaction is what will come back to haunt us during the General Election. Supporters for both BS and HRC need to be reminded of that.
=====
Exactly one year before Election Day – on November 8, 2015 – Bernie Sanders was asked whether his agreement with Hillary Clinton on basic issues outweighed the conflicts that he proclaimed at every campaign appearance.
Speaking on television rather than on the stump, the Vermont senator conceded reluctantly that he and Clinton concur on some issues. But then he added an entirely gratuitous endorsement:
“And by the way, on her worst day, Hillary Clinton will be an infinitely better candidate and President than the Republican candidate on his best day.”
But by repeating his unfounded insinuation that Clinton’s paid speeches and Wall Street donors have somehow corrupted her, he is inflicting damage that will be very hard to mend.
Looking toward the likelihood that either Clinton or Sanders will face Donald Trump next fall, those corrosive tactics are shortsighted. Should Sanders win the nomination, he will want and need Clinton’s support. And should she defeat him, he will and should want her to win — if he believes what he said last November, and understands the exceptionally dangerous threat posed by a Trump presidency.
gopolitico fp today.
Brava!!
Important goodness.
Heartbreaking. I just do not know how they go on each day. These women are true heroes.
I can’t bear that these women have to suffer such horrendous pain, such senseless loss. A very effective ad and I hope to see more of this as we move into the general. We need this stark contrast with the vile white superiority and vulgar violence of Trump.
Powerful, heartrending ad! Hillary’s resolve to address gun violence and criminal justice/policing reform on the campaign trail raises her way above Bernie and cements my support.
❤
Morning, girlfriend. How are you?
G’morning Chips and TOD!! Congrats Sir Bob on #1, and Happy Friday everyone 🙂
I’ve submitted a proposal to Netroots Nation for a panel on the future of healthcare reform, together with ACA Signups maven Charles Gaba, progressive activist and physician Paul Song,of the Courage Campaign, and Inside Heath Policy reporter Amy Lotven, a veteran of the ACA legislative wars.
***************************
this is a fascinating take on how to improve on the ACA…without all the JIVE that theSanders’ campaign shouts….but as i said in a comment…that there are 21 states who refuse to expand medicaid and if Dems lose the governorships the GOP will rescind that expansion in those blue states…it is critical to discuss the political climate in state houses and Congress in order to achieve those advances…that has to be a component of the discussion
As the Sanders campaign blatantly says that down ticket races aren’t their problem, they only care about the vote for POTUS.
Literally said and quoted by the Chicago Tribune, from the head of the IL Sanders campaign.
This is why BS is a menace – he is truly “independent” to the point where he doesn’t give a damn about how the country is governed by elected officials. I’ll support him if I have to, and hope that he realizes the complexity of govt. and how important all down ticket races are; but I’d be surprised if you can teach something that fundamentally against his “principles” to a 74 year old man.
%&…i am not making that statement anymore…for me there is no alternative but Hillary….so in light of that i encourage everyone to work…because there is a difference between Sanders and Clinton…a vote for one is not the same as the vote for other…
I still say it, to keep open lines of communication. But, pf, I think he is a disaster. I truly do. He can’t pivot, he’s a zealot. I can’t imagine the cabinet he will pick, and he will let ideology win over governance. I truly worry if the country is in his hands.
If he’s been in government as long as he has, and hasn’t realized YET that government is complex, he’s not going to learn it. He’ll just fight it.
This is great, PF! Hope it happens.
I guess so Senator Warren, extremism has no place in our politics. Sorta like the time you crucified President Obama concerning the TPP.
POINT!
Yes!
^5 ^5 Thank you very much, Don.
I know so many people that make judgements and decisions based on something that happened to themselves or others they know and attribute it to one thing instead of looking at it as a complex issue with many causes and potentially needing a complex solution. PERCEPTION!
To me I think the PPACA was a complex comprehensive program designed with a lot of input from a variety of groups involved. It was not a bandaid solution. Bernie is looking at the problem from one view thinking single payer will solve everything. Obamacare will need continual adjustments to be sure loopholes and unforeseen problems are patched along the way, but the system in place is a basic solution.
TPP reminds me of many I know that feel burned by NAFTA so think all other trade deals will bring the same result. They have decided no matter what rules are put in place it will not work. PBO sees the value of a fair trade deal to all yet the need for requirements and set rules.
our school student is in news today. 😎

Many felicitations from this teacher as well. This speaks highly of his school, his parents, the other people that have encouraged and under-girded him, and most of all his own perseverance and determination. I know he must have faced obstacles, but refused to let them stop him. I hope he is taking great pride and JOY in his accomplishment. I talk with my students about those qualities all the time. I have several who will just put their heads down and cry or give up at the first hurdle. Although there may be extreme circumstances in their homes which cause this, they need to practice now (as 7-8 year olds) how to talk themselves through and learn to embrace their challenges and overcome them. {Of course, amk, I am sure the fine genes had something to do with it, right? 😉 }
Good morning, TODville. Happy FriYAY!!
Awesome tweet Meta! Switch out the names and send it to all the other GOPers.
I think this is interesting. Yesterday or the day before I received an email from the Clinton campaign asking me to take a survey. The survey asked about reasons I would support Clinton and what my most important issues were. There was also a question asking me to choose the reason that would best motivate me to donate to her campaign. One option was ‘the chance to meet Hillary’ and ‘another was to build the organization. There were about 6 or 7 altogether but I don’t remember them. I chose ‘to build the organization’. Today I received an email asking me to donate because each donation, no matter how small helps pay one more field organizer, buy one more ad, shows she has grassroots support. It sounds like they took the results of that survey and targeted the fund-raising appeal to my stated reason for contributing. If this is the case, I think it speaks well for their use of data to target the motivations of various groups of voters. I may pass by an appeal to donate so I can meet her, but when I’m reminded that money is needed for the boots-on-the-ground campaign I’m more likely to donate.
Yep!
I got the email but didn’t take the survey. Now I want to go do that!

This was a very sweet moment from PM Trudeau.
Hello TOD. Laughing because seems PMJT also has PBO’s penchant for using the word “extraordinary”, which I think is PBOS’s favorite word. 🙂
Well, thanks for bringing tears to my eyes! How incredibly sweet.
