The actor Tzi Ma resembles the Chinese President. The actor played Dylan’s father (Akeelah & the Bee).

Everytime i saw the Chinese President he reminded me of an actor but couldn’t place it until now. Yes, if they make a movie about PBO and do a scene from the state dinner, Mr. Ma should be cast.

Thank you for this beautiful post, Chips!

The First Lady’s French State Dinner dress is still my fave. And I love that pic with Stephen Colbert next to her listening to Mary J. Blige. I appreciate how he always addresses the President as “Sir” and the First Lady as “ma’am” Even when he made a joke once about some little gaffe FLOTUS made, he looked at the camera sheepishly and said, “I’m sorry ma’am! You know I love you.”

Love the place settings for tomorrow night, and the menu looks yummy (except for the lamb 😦 Yes, I know it’s supposed to be delicious, but it’s just a personal preference of mine that I’d rather eat grown-up animals).

I also love how PBO looks at FLOTUS when she’s dressed up. So nice that they’re actually in love.

      GM Maryl1.

How cool is that? Were you outside on your patio when distracted by ladybug? If so, must be balmy for this time of year in Michigan.

I so understand your frustration about HRC and Michigan this week, mostly because Berniebots are such holier-than-thou jerks… smug and condescending, which solves no one’s problems.

During 2008 Dem primary, I was pretty much glued to the Internet and cable TV anguishing over the heated race. I so wanted Barack Obama as the nominee, he was so inspiring — and concerned about HRC in the WH with Bill rattling around in the WH with nothing to do except to cause mischief.

The foundation laid by President Obama has allayed my fears about WJC in the WH (that, and consider the alternatives for the WH this year). HRC will have a clear mandate from the American people and WJC will know this as well in 2017 and beyond. There was so much turmoil in 2008-09, so many priorities demanding immediate attention that Bill’s influence could have been distracting to Hillary and others in the WH.

Posted this yesterday morning, but here’s a stark reminder of why Obots were so concerned about 2008 Dem primaries — HRC swept all the most populous states, including Michigan (and my state of California) 😦

      • March 10, 2016 at 7:44 am

That is a good reminder, arapaho! Part of what makes me feel differently about Hillary Clinton this year is the distance in time from Bill Clinton’s presidency. We’d had 8 years of Bush and then 8 years of Clinton, and another Clinton presidency made it seem like we’d be trading back and forth between two’royal families’. And I, too, didn’t want Bill Clinton back in the White House. Eight years later and after the ground-breaking presidency of Barack Obama, I no longer have that feeling, and I can also see Hillary Clinton for who she herself is, rather than part of a duo. I’ve noticed that as the campaign goes on I see fewer and fewer remarks like “The Clintons would be a twofer” and “Get Bill back in the White House”-almost as though they were really voting for him-and more focus on the person she is.

        • 96 arapaho415

          Thanks, maryl1!

Yep, onboard the #ImWithHer train, without reservations, something I would not have believed this time 8 years ago.

President Obama is uncannilly consistent, something extremely rare for American politicians. I am grateful that HRC has made it abundantly clear that she will continue his strategic policies and will enact those that were blocked by GOP lawmakers, who have only shrunk and exposed their haplessness during the past 7 years.

          As Bobfr would say, #TrustBarackHesEarnedIt

Our FLOTUS is better than any fashion model because she not only has impeccable taste in clothes and looks gorgeous in them, she also exudes life and joy and a sense of humor. No matter how magnificent and regal she looks, you know she will be warm, friendly and accepting. That’s something nobody can teach you. It comes from being comfortable with who you are and having both empathy and understanding.

      • March 10, 2016 at 1:46 am

There was a couple of interesting things that came out as I monitored the debate on twitter. For the first time in these forums they cited the videotapes of Bernie praising the Communist revolution of Castro and that model of governance. That seemed to be new information for some people and it won’t sell well in Florida. Another bit of information that Bernie hasn’t been confronted with before was his joining the GOP back in 2004 to grant legal liability to the Minutemen organization of racist vigilantees who were terrorizing immigrants. Definite downer for Latinos especially. It was noted that the loudest applause of the night was when the moderators were called out by Hillary for harping on the non-issue of Benghazi.

Love these pictures of State dinners. My favorite dress is the blue and black lace dress for the French dinner, and my favorite picture is the one of the President holding Michelle’s hand as she comes down the steps. The word that describes him is “gallant” He has such grace.

Thanks for the link to 60 minutes on Justin Trudeau, but 10 seconds into Lara Logan’s narration, I had to cut it off. I cannot listen to her. She is condescending and patronizing, and sorry, but her accent raises my hackles. She sounds phony.

Will be watching the arrival tomorrow morning, and the dinner tomorrow evening. About time we gave Canada her due! (Glad it’s not Harper, though)

Nice try. Now OutKast, is an Atlanta DUO whose work I admired when they were together. They occasionally collaborated with other artists. Killer Mike is apparently one of those collaborators – not an actual member of OutKast as far as I know. In any case, I never heard of him before 2016 and what I’ve seen thus far makes me sure I will not be claiming him for any purpose – homeboy or otherwise.

Btw, I’ve never heard/saw this piece either. You could probably name tons of hip hop artists I don’t know and even from the ones I’ve heard of, it’s unlikely I’d be familiar with their entire repertoire. I’m kind of a fuddy-duddy when it comes to the kids music these days — with a few exceptional, exceptions. [shrug]

Well we all thought it was the auto industry bail out bill. It bailed out the auto industry.

      • March 10, 2016 at 12:06 am

Problem is Axelrod is mainstreaming this thought process on CNN. Last night I was up waiting for Hawaii results to come in and for the first time in ever they focused on the Dem results…..problem is for 2 straight hours they just showed MI results and exit polls graphics for there and never once showed the MS result or even brought it up. Every single knucklehead claimed the reason HRC lost MI was because of her attack on Bernie in regards to the auto-bailout. One little problem with these lazy SOB talking heads…Hillary lost MI b/c it was an open primary & 30% of the vote were indie (split 70-30 for Bernie). She lost by 20,000 votes out of 1 million+ cast. Hillary actually won the Dem only vote 60-40. Florida is a closed primary….and so are a majority of the ones coming up….but they need ratings so lets build this false narrative 😕
