President’s going to Cuba same day Netanyahu was to arrive, and other arrangements couldn’t be solidified. He also all of a sudden doesn’t want to appear as though he’s interfering with U.S. elections by meeting presidential candidates at AIPAC.

I just perplexed why some well placed Black bloggers can’t look past their hatred for the Clinton’s trump the desire to win this election and uphold what the President has risked all his energy, capital to hold up , do they want the Retugs to nominate the next SCOTUS, I voted for the President twice and that is one of the best decisions I have ever made and I loved these bloggers for supporting the President but my God how do they support an NRA puppet, one who dismiss the President work in restoring the economy, healthcare, student loans and numerous others to name, don’t they know that there is a whole dossier from the RETUGS about B. Sanders praising leftist government like Hugo Chavez how do you think the America electorate would respond, beats my imagination

“The World Bank estimates the U.S. accounted for almost 23% of global growth last year, its highest contribution since 2003. This year, the U.S. is expected to contribute a still-strong 21% with faster growth than many advanced nations. The International Monetary Fund predicts the U.S. will grow a respectable 2.6% this year and next, though private-sector economists see a slightly slower expansion. “The only engine of growth is the U.S. economy,” said Sri Mulyani Indrawati, managing director and chief operating officer at the World Bank in a speech Monday in Washington, D.C. Europe is struggling with the U.K.’s possible exit, Japan continues to see weak growth and the emerging economies that were “the engines of growth during the last decade” are underperforming, he said…..

….U.S. policy makers, in settings such as the recent Group of 20 meeting of top finance officials, have been pushing other nations to encourage faster consumption in major economies such as China and Germany. “The world can’t depend on the United States to be the consumer of first and last resort,” Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew said in a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal. “That’s not a powerful enough engine to drive the whole global economy. So there needs to be more demand in other places where there’s the capacity to generate it….continued”

Maria Sharapova has tested positive for a banned substance. Never saw that one coming. I thought she was going to announce her retirement or that she was leaving the tour until her injuries fully healed. The drug she used was to increase endurance so it had nothing to do with her injuries. Don’t like her, but I am shocked.

          March 7, 2016 at 4:17 pm

If everything she’s stating is true, (she’s used the drug for years for an abnormal echo cardiogram, family history of diabetes, etc.) in addition to the fact that the Meldonium was just added to the list this January, she’ll probably just get a slap on the wrist. (Her responsibility to check the list). She’s been plagued with injuries of late and the subject of her retirement I’m sure has been brought up. A six month to a year suspension would be a devastating blow at this point. I can’t see the powers that be having her leave the game under these circumstances.

I wonder how all the people who insisted that Serena was doping and pointing out her body type as evidence are feeling right now? Maria is their ideal and yet… Serena has never failed a drug test. Maria has been using this drug for years, it used for endurance and she still can’t beat Serena. Sorry, just had to say it.

          • 28 Don
            March 7, 2016 at 4:25 pm

If she’s taking a drug for endurance that in itself is a red flag. I never heard of such a thing, taking drugs to fight fatigue should disqualify her on the spot.

            • 29 Dakota
              March 7, 2016 at 4:37 pm

Yeah, I think the echo cardiogram is a definite red flag. The claim is also that she was using it for low magnesium and a family history of diabetes. The drug was “legal” up until January of this year.

      • March 7, 2016 at 4:39 pm

Oh my my my. Wonder what the Serena haters have to say about this. There little snow white fail a drug test. If that was Serena twitter would be busting to pieces calling Serena all kinds of names.

    • March 7, 2016 at 4:57 pm

Of course, Christine Brennan & Richard Quest sympathize with Maria (did the right thing in her press conference)…..can’t even imagine what the consequences would be if it was Serena. (right now provisional ban….she’s is currently injured so whatever, but the max is 4-year ban)

    Good afternoon TOD

This is what a FB friend of mine posted in response to Charles Blow’s video”

“This is the thing… A friend of mine came to visit, and was stopped by KHP, and asked me to come and try to mediate things. Just last night.

KHP immediately viewed me as a threat, because I wore a jacket (It was cold) -(And no, it wasn’t a Hoodie) and I had my hands in my pockets as I walked the block to where the confrontation was.

Local RCPD call me Batman, because I took down an abuser who had invaded a neighbor’s home – and have a long history of sheltering abused people.

My son wasn’t with me, this time, so I was casual in demeanor and when the officer demanded that I take my hands out of my pocket and step away – I simply gave him the jacket – and discussed why I was there – he made me turn around to make sure I didn’t have a gun – and I told him Guns were for cowards while I turned around for him to see I wasn’t hiding anything.

His demeanor changed, and we talked, and he allowed me to talk to my friend, and we got most of everything cleared up – as my friend was afraid to speak with the officers.

But this is the thing U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders does not see or understand, and why he keeps pissing off People of Color.

I am a walking threat to White People – Regardless of my education, work history, neighborhood, background, income, etc.

My neighborhood is mostly White, mostly retired Anglo Military, and Nurses at the nearby Hospital. I am a Degreed University employee.

There is nothing Ghetto about it. Nobody has to understand the Ghetto to understand I can be killed for having my hands in my pockets, because it’s cold outside, and if I take them out too quickly – I can be shot for having an imaginary gun.

This is why he really pisses off People of color, when he makes it a class issue”

BTW my friend lives in Kansas.

I love this post’s photo of PBO and Congressman Lewis! The photo on the Chat Away post today was lovely, but made me think too much of Jan 2017, which made me a bit sad.

Happy Monday (my weekend 🙂 ) to all! I was working so didn’t comment much this weekend, but you all kept me up to date and I watched the debate from TOD last night (thank you Chips!)

Boy, that “ghetto” comment from Sen. Sanders was just cringe worthy. I remember PBO remarking about his white grandmother, “a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but…..who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.”

Sanders’ remarks were cringe-worthy. It was like his image of Black America is inspired by an episode of Good Times. While there are people’s old relatives all over the country who might see the world this way, it is mind-blowing that a 35 year member of the Senate could have remained so sheltered as to still hold a world view such as this. Ignorance such as this should also should disqualify one from being considered for the the President of the United States of America.

Good commentary about Sanders’ protection of gun manufacturers from lawsuits:

“It’s an utterly baffling position for Bernie to maintain, especially knowing the dozens of mass shootings perpetrated by gunmen wielding AR-15s between 2005 and today. If Bernie were honest about his vote to support the PLCA — that he represents a gun-owning state and therefore is politically motivated to draw the line here for the sake of winning elections — I might be more forgiving.”

“Bernie said during the debate that allowing victims to sue gun makers would signal the end of the industry. It’s rather alarmist of him, isn’t it, given the obvious existence of frivolous suits or unsuccessful ones. But what if the gun industry is significantly downsized due to being held accountable? Is it really necessary to have such a robust gun manufacturing sector of the economy? If you’re the NRA, sure there is, which is why the notorious lobbyist organization tweeted the following today:”

I guess I have wondered if HRC would wear a dress to formal events if President or have special formal pants for those events? I think the pants help separate her from her past First Lady role. I recently bought a very dressy gold chiffon blouse with gold crocheted overlay. I could not find a good color long skirt to go with it that did not make the blouse color appear dull so went fabric shopping. I found two beautiful brocade fabrics with the same color gold as the blouse in them, in addition one has a fuschia color too. I decided to make the gold into a long formal skirt and the one with gold and fuschia into formal full pants. I will decide later which I will choose to wear for a winter wedding for my daughter.
