        GA JO’B.

Americans should hang their heads in shame (I am) — our democratic election process is showing the effects of the Drudge and Reality TV on our abysmal culture.

        From Meta’s twitter timeline:

And this is probably irrelevant since the imminently unqualified “Little Marco” will no doubt drop out of the presidential candidate race after the Ides of March, but he should still be called on this:

Veteran Journalists And Historians Rip “Pathetic” And “Fawning” Media Coverage Of Trump

The national press has not questioned Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump nearly enough on his vague policy proposals and has done an equally poor job examining his business and personal record, according to veteran campaign reporters and historians who called the media’s Trump campaign coverage “pathetic” and “fawning.”

As Trump solidifies his lead in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, historians and journalists who have covered several presidential elections tell Media Matters that Trump has so far managed to avoid facing the kind of intense press scrutiny usually devoted to a leading presidential candidate. While several experts said that some print outlets, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, have provided solid, in-depth reporting, their good reporting has largely been drowned out by television and cable news outlets, which are stuck in a ratings contest and constantly broadcasting Trump speeches, rallies, and interviews, allowing the candidate to dictate the conversation.

Some of the experts also note that television outlets are often too preoccupied with Trump’s latest outrageous comment to do the necessary substanative reporting on him.

    Hi All

I tried to post this yesterday but did not understand how to include pics. Thanks to Dudette for helping me – her advice did the trick.

Wanted to share our SF #DoYourJob SCOTUS event with everyone. Hope the images load

We had a “Wet and Wonderful” event in front of SF City Hall @ noon. From as far north as Sonoma County to as far south as Concord about 45 damp and determined volunteers converged to thank our Senators Boxer and Feinstein for doing their jobs and DEMANDING that GOP Senators do theirs.

The key to this event was having all the NorthBay Chapters work together. It brought us closer as leaders and made the work load so much easier. Thanks to all my compatriots – here is a list of the Chapters who contributed to the event

Carmen Gonzales Murray – East Bay Chapter
Kyoko Takayama – East Bay Central
Renee Zeimer – Contra Costa County
    Belle Colle – Marin County
    Linda Hemenway – Sonoma County

A big shout out to OFA Western Region Digital Media Lead, Lisa Edwards ACA Lead, and Kook Huber Fellows Manager for Contra Costa.

We shared in the tasks of getting speakers, securing a permit, contacting the press, recruitment phone banking, making confirmation calls, creating an agenda and setting up for the event. It was so much fun to do it this way I hope we can use this as a template for future events.

The event was kicked off by Carmen Murray, Chapter Lead from OFA East Bay. She got us “fired up and ready to go”.

Next came Karen Beck from MoveOn who co-sponsored the event. It is so important that we work with partner organizations to increase our outreach amplify our voice, it was great to have folks from Move On at the event.

Our second speaker was Lucy Riley a Nurse at Sutter Hospital who stressed the importance of a Supreme Court that will protect Women’s Health. She had a strong southern accent and a stronger sense of purpose. Her “no nonsense” comments made it clear that we were going to hold the Senate’s feet to the fire and not give up until we prevail.

Next Came David Schmidt – from the California Clean $$ campaign. We were inspired by his determination to level the playing field when it comes to $$ in politics. Appointing a Supreme Court Justice that could overturn Citizens United would be an important step forward.

Christine Pelosi (Nancy’s amazing daughter) was our last speaker. I was so excited to see someone I have retweeted often and admired from afar. As you can see from the photo below, she also brought our beloved RGB to the party to inspire us. Christine focused on the importance of the Supreme Court appointment to many issues we care about. She thanked us for our dedication, and pledged to explore ways we could partner with the many Women’s groups she works with. As Chair of the California Democratic Party Women’s Caucus, Christine is uniquely poised to help us form alliances with Women’s groups in the Bay Area.

Christine mentioned that there will be a major push to exert pressure on GOP Senators during the Easter recess in late March, I know all our teams will be gearing up to either have an event in SF or help teams in red states keep the pressure on.

I will leave you with my favorite sign of the day. As we all know the American people have chosen, this sign speaks for me.

Event Type: Visibility Event & Petition Delivery (Hard copy of petitions)

    Issue: Supreme Court Vacancy

Location: Senator Flake’s Office in Tucson

    Co-Host: MoveOn.org

    #: DoYourJob #OFAction @JeffFlake @SenJohnMcCain

    Attendees: 27
Partner Organizations: Planned Parenthood RAIZ/VOX UA Students, Jobs for Justice, MoveOn.org
    Speakers: 3

    Event Description:
Today, twenty-seven supporters gathered at the plaza area in front of Senator Jeff Flake’s office to show support for filling the Supreme Court Vacancy in a timely manner. Organizations from Jobs for Justice, University of Arizona Planned Parenthood RAIZ/VOX were present, as well as snowbirds (Winter visitors from other areas of the country), a “Never done this before” supporter and Seattle visitors who plan to change their voter registration to Arizona “Where it’s most needed.”

After the welcome, a few minutes were spent creating and sending tweets using @JeffFlake and #DoYourJob. Pre-created tweets were shared with the group to make tweeting easier.

The speeches began with Carol Montgomery, giving her perspective as a senior citizen, why it matters to her that the Supreme Court vacancy be filled. Carol also visited Senator Flake’s office just before the rally started.

Father Tom Tureman spoke from the faith perspective, and how filling the vacancy on SCOTUS is a unifying act.

Attorney Vince Rabago pointed out the fact that not considering a nominee is unprecedented. He was interview by KGUN9 and KVOA.

Upon closing, the group was reminded to call Senator Jeff Flake and Senator John McCain, write LTEs and that this campaign is not over.

To end the rally, on the count of three, we chanted: “Senator Flake, do your job! “ “Senator McCain, do your job!”

Hard copy petitions (over 7000 signatures) were delivered to Senator Flake’s office by four of the participants. The office staff did not want the USB since there were no addresses associated with names.

We are putting the issue ecosystem training into action!

Vince Rabago is a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Arizona, with over 22 years of legal experience as a state prosecutor and now as a lawyer in private practice. Vince Rabago owns his own law firm and represents clients, both individuals and businesses, who are all seeking justice from the court system, including the U.S. Supreme Court. As a lawyer who works on cases involving the United States Supreme Court, Vince Rabago knows and understands how critical it is for our judicial system to have a fully operational Supreme Court to deliver justice and interpret the law for the entire nation, and how important it is for everyone to ensure that we have a judicial system that is free from political interference.

Father Tom Tureman – Faith perspective
Father Tom Tureman, SDS, is the Pastor at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Tucson, AZ. He is a member of the international Salvatorian community and is the head of Community Missions Operations in Tanzania, East Africa. Fr. Tom is the Chairman of the Pima County Interfaith Council (PCIC).

Here is what happened in Nogales AZ

    Last Friday at 7:44 AM

    Hi all,

We have accomplished quite a bit this week to support the USA Constitution and the obligation of President Obama to send a nominee to the Senate to replace Justice Scalia.

A Guest Opinion is published in both the Nogales International http://www.nogalesinternational.com/opinion/guest_
and the Green Valley News http://www.gvnews.com/opinion/obama-s-job/article_90a834ce-e01a-11e5-af81-970c7db416e5.html

We visited Senator Flake’s Constituent Representative, Bob Brubaker on Monday at City Hall who reminded us of the importance of Stakeholders in any Issue including replacing a Supreme Court Justice.

We also attended last night’s Drinking Liberally event I nTubac and as you can see we all want Senator Flake & Senator McCain to do their job.

We are now at 45 signatures on our local petition with more coming in daily….

We have more signs available tonight, 3/4 at the Nogales Mercado – as well as the printed Petition. Join our neighbors in supporting the President’s obligation to act.

Thank You and greetings from the Border!

Good West Coast evening everyone. I’m back home from that company retreat that kept me in a “no news/no wifi” desert since Friday!!!

Nancy Reagan has died???!!!! May she rest in peace. Even she didn’t want to stick around and watch her GOP party destruct.

GA GGail. Hope you survived your company retreat with your sanity intact.

You’re right about how Nancy Reagan felt about what the GOP has become (see upthread post with tweet from @rawstory).

Here’s PBO and FLOTUS’ statement on her passing.

BTW, did it rain cats and dogs in your neighborhood last night, or did the rain not make it further east from Ventura County?

My unscientific measurement (sticking a ruler into the various containers I left outside to collect rainwater) was 3 inches here, which is a lot for one overnight rainstorm. 🙂

idon, I lived through the Reagan years, so I know it to be true – my comment was that our current first lady is criticized for being a fierce protector of her husband. If it was a positive for Nancy…er…

  31. March 6, 2016 at 7:14 pm

To show you how stupid, what a bunch of racists idiots the right wing haters are, Raw Story has a story about hateful conservatives twitter nutters use Nancy Reagen’s death to bash Michelle Obama. Nancy Reagen has passed and they are more concern about trashing this wonderful First Lady. This speaks volume as to what kind of people those twitters are. The President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are showing Nancy Reagen respect with the statement they released, and haters shows that they neither deserve respect or know what it mean.

  32. March 6, 2016 at 7:20 pm

Bernie is a fraud and his campaign is apparently full of amateurs….they held a 6:30 presser to announce this endorsement of John McCain->Keating 5 pal!!!!

Wanted to share a happy story. My only single adult child got engaged today. It was a cute story. She is living and working in Germany and had to go to DC for a work related trip. Her German boyfriend went with her to help her cleanup, repair and get her house she had been renting out there ready to sell. He bought his own ticket in second class while hers was work related and in first class.
When the plane was halfway between Germany and the USA an airline hostess took a note up to my daughter from her boyfriend asking her to come back as he had something to ask her. He had gotten the crew to help him. He had temporarily gotten the seat next to him vacated to propose. The Captain announced it afterwards and there was applause and champagne. She had to go back to her seat for the rest of the flight, but the attendants served him warm cookies and were attentive the rest of the trip.
