POTUS and FLOTUS have not only inspired young people to pursue the arts and sciences through talk, but they have opened the White House, sponsoring programs and fairs that allowed young people to demonstrate their talents …putting their talk into action and doing much to encourage and motivate. In so many ways they have made the WH the People’s House. They will soooooooo be missed.

Guess what, Donald Trump? Your bigotry has inspired Muslim American voters like no presidential candidate has done before.

All Dulles Area Muslim Society, better known as ADAMS…organizing phone banks. We are getting people registered to vote. We’re telling them how important their voices are…

“Abstaining from voting is also a vote,” read one of the talking points in their action plan.”

““If Muslims do not vote, openly Islamophobic leaders do not pay a price,” said another one.”

Islamophobia has been fueled by Donald Trump’s incendiary rhetoric calling for a “total” ban on Muslims entering the United States — hate speech that has helped make him the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination. But it has also been bolstered by leaders who have remained silent.

The Muslim population is relatively small in the United States — about 3.3 million…But U.S. Muslims have the potential to be a powerful influence at the ballot box because one of their major population centers happens to be in a battleground state — Virginia.

SW, I know the same can be said of the Latino community. Many Latinos can’t wait to line up to vote AGAINST Trump. He drives up Democratic registration whenever he opens his mouth.

Don’t underestimate the fact that a prominent Muslim political activist is making sure that Muslims register in drovesas REPUBLICANs because, she said, the GOP offers values closer to their practice. Go figure!

I think about a time when companies, when trying to meet minority quotas, would hire a black female, thus allowing them to check off two boxes. Religion was not a topic that could be touched.

Now, the hatred, the bigotry, the discrimination is more blatant; people are an open book; the people who are being elected to office encourage it whether by active behavior/rhetoric or by passive behavior – do nothing/say nothing.

  3. February 26, 2016 at 7:40 am

“Univision fought with Donald Trump and now it wants to register 3 million new Latino voters”

Last summer, Univision went to war with Donald Trump after he called Mexicans drug dealers and rapists –Now Univision is launching a major voter registration and engagement campaign aimed at turning out 3 million new Latino voters ahead of this year’s presidential election.

The network published an online voter guide Tuesday and is partnering with several organizations to register eligible Latinos — a population that has grown 40% in the past eight years alone. Univision will broadcast public service announcements across its 126 local television and radio stations about the importance of voting…

Donald Trump’s attacks are resulting in minority voter registration/GOTV drives.

Df, surely everyone knows that only Democrats have to release their tax records. Only Democrats are held up to scrutiny for every word they utter. Only Democrats are consistently and viciously called out for “lies” even when the accusations turn out to be true. Trump will never be called to account for anything because his supporters don’t care and his critics “can’t make him”–the big macho bully– do anything he doesn’t want to do.

    http://www.progressmichigan.org/2016/02/progress-michigan-calls-for-snyder-resignation-in-light-of-new-emails/

“There’s no reasonable person who can believe at this point that every top advisor to Rick Snyder knew that there was an issue, but Snyder knew nothing. At worst he’s been lying all along and at best he’s the worst manager on the planet. Under either scenario he’s clearly unfit to lead our state and he should resign immediately,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “As if it isn’t bad enough that the Governor’s administration knew about the Flint water issues and did nothing, we also find out that Snyder’s deputy legal counsel was purposely writing separate emails to avoid the state’s Freedom of Information Act. All of this behavior is unacceptable and Governor Snyder must be held accountable for the egregious failures that have occurred on his watch.”

Thanks, Df. Rick Snyder’s lies kill people. Christie’s lies disrupt and bankrupt the population. Neither one faces consequences. The only governor who has seen the inside of a jail cell is former DEMOCRATIC governor, Blogojevich of Illinois, who hurt no one but himself. What are the odds that Snyder would be under indictment if he were a Democrat?

Rubio, Cruz throw kitchen sink at Trump, but he’s still standing
    02/26/16 08:00 AM—UPDATED 02/26/16 08:25 AM
    By Steve Benen
    ………………….

Last night was, however, a very different kind of event. With the window of opportunity closing for candidates like Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, the first-term senators not only launched tag-team attacks on Trump, they appeared eager to throw every possible criticism they could think of at the candidate standing atop the polls.

After months of restraint, Rubio and Cruz apparently decided it was time for a kitchen-sink gambit, which included, but was not limited to, attacks on Trump’s inheritance, his “university,” his tax returns, the vagueness of his health care plan, his record on immigration, his general-election polls, and his support for official U.S. neutrality towards Israelis and Palestinians.

It led MSNBC’s Benjy Sarlin to raise an important point.

By dropping so many attacks at once, Rubio and Cruz also make it difficult to focus on any one issue in four days, giving Trump an opportunity to regain control of the conversation. We’ll never know what might have happened if they had doled out bits of opposition research over months and months instead and litigated each topic one at a time.

There’s a scene in “Apocalypse Now” in which Captain Willard walks into a fire fight and he comes upon a soldier launching grenades. The soldier looks high as a kite; Captain Willard asks the soldier “who’s in charge here?” The solider turns around and looks at Captain Willard and says “I thought you were in charge.” And that is the GOP today, nobody is in charge, they have no structure nor do they have a unifying voice. Their leader is a former talk show host that may or may not be a millionaire depending on the results of an audit that may or may not be taking place.

  20. February 26, 2016 at 9:05 am

[Per The National Review’s staff writer Charles C.W. Cooke, The Federalist, Bill James, and the right-wing Washington Post editorial board]

    1. All bark, no bite and no fight – GOP doesn’t know how to fight anymore, whether shutting down the federal government for longer or taking on Trump…

    2. The others are losers and wimps – the rest of the 2016 GOP field has been, well, pathetic….

    3. Trump is a white trash billionaire – Rubio and Cruz need to say so…Trump is an entitled mess whose business record is so questionable that he managed to bankrupt a casino…

    4. Go birther on the birther – the Donald must die to save the GOP, and those attacks can start with one of his ploys—saying he isn’t eligible to be president…

    5. Get through to the “morons.” – The Federalist, Bill James, cites all the rational reasons why Trump is unqualified to be president, but then notes his party’s base is filled with “morons” supporting him…

    6. Arm the loosest of loose cannons? – the Republican National Committee are failing “to do everything in their power to prevent a bullying demagogue from becoming their standard-bearer.”…

    7. Call on principled leaders to end mob rule? – “If Mr. Trump is to be stopped, now is the time for leaders of conscience to say they will not and cannot support him and to do what they can to stop him…

    • 49 Don
      February 26, 2016 at 9:08 am

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has dropped his objection to the Senate moving forward on aid for the Flint, Mich., water crisis.

But by Thursday evening, Cruz, who is running for the Republican nomination for president, had determined that there was no reason to object, his spokesman said.

But Cruz dropping his opposition does not necessarily mean smooth sailing for the Flint and energy bills. Senators said earlier Thursday that other members had put holds on the bills, which may still be in place by next week when the Senate returns to business.

I don’t know where to start about last night.

It was a feast to watch grown men attempting to man up to the biggest bully, chauvinistic, egomaniac, demagogue in American politics. A right-wing tsunami with all the brutal force, irrationality, incoherence, and vanity the GOP and the Conservatives created via the channels of the likes of Club for Growth, the Heritage Foundation, supported by front-line mouth-piece punchers like Boss Limbaugh, Glen Beck and Sean Hannity. Oh, yes! They built that!!!

And “that” is something the Party of Obstructions, the Party of No, the Establishment gurus like Koch Brothers and Alderson, cannot stop. Gravity is calling Il Douche to snap the nomination by all accounts. Unless superior brakes are applied fast, nobody can’t stop this Clown on his rapid descent in the next primaries to re-emerge victorious as the Republican nominee.

Besides, Il Douche has a class of followers thirsty for a fight with the so-called Establishment, and there is nothing Priebus nor his masters can do. The Trump followers cannot be reasoned with for they lost their sanity the moment they casted their votes for that Joker.

At this point, only a good exorcism might remove this tumor from the country, but at what cost?

It does not bother CNN that those GOP candidates standing up there acting like that, trying to become the President of the United States is an embarrassment to this country.

  29. February 26, 2016 at 9:39 am

Here is the situation the Republicans see themselves in and they have no one to blame but their own racists self. Lindsey Graham said that if someone murder Ted Cruz on the Senate floor their would be not one person would care, and he said if Trump is the nominee he will support him because it’s like buying a ticket on the sinking titanic. He said something about Hillary being a liar, but she will be President.

My president is coming to my city today and he will be in a part of town (but not near my neighborhood) where I live. The local broadcast media will be following him from the moment he leaves the White House through his visit to his return home. There has been coverage on the visit on all tech formats from the earliest news casts and it is continuing throughout the day. Several of the newscasters have been to D.C. to interview PBO when the White House invited local media outlets to do so. All of them were respectful and unbiased in their later presentations. Our local newspaper has been a bastion of republican bull shit all of my life, so I expect them to do their usual when it comes to PBO. I mentioned a few days ago that our repub. mayor, Lenny Curry (Alvin Brown, the A-A democratic mayor had only one term) came out in support of Rubio. I do not expect Curry to act like a mofo toward PBO, but we will see.
