      ๐Ÿ˜€ Funny part is, I bet you some of them would believe and comply if we could get the message out. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ Remember the ones who were gearing up for that military exercise that would supposedly take place in Texas (can’t remember the name)?

          Yea, sounded something like that, and there were Texas folks buying up supplies to prepare themselves and others doing reconnoiter missions. I really would love to be able to pass out these current warnings late October/early November – just for the fun of it. ๐Ÿ˜€

      // ……………………………………………………
      But thatโ€™s nonsense. Even if youโ€™re disappointed in what President Obama accomplished, he substantially raised taxes on the rich and dramatically expanded the social safety net; significantly tightened financial regulation; encouraged and oversaw a surge in renewable energy; moved forward on diplomacy with Iran.

      Any Republican would undo all of that, and move sharply in the opposite direction. If anything, the consensus among the presidential candidates seems to be that George W. Bush didnโ€™t cut taxes on the rich nearly enough, and should have made more use of torture.

      When we talk about partisanship, then, weโ€™re not talking about arbitrary teams, weโ€™re talking about a deep divide on values and policy. How can anyone not be โ€œpartisanโ€ in the sense of preferring one of these visions?

      And itโ€™s up to you to decide which version you prefer. So why do I say that only one party has gone off the deep end?

      One answer is, compare last weekโ€™s Democratic debate with Saturdayโ€™s Republican debate. Need I say more?

                The Shack – Wm. Paul Young

                    Hi Maryl, I haven’t read any more since I wrote my comment days ago but I do intend to. After a very slow start I really am surprised to find that I’m intrigued by the way in which Young has explained some theological concepts in simple and clearER ways. I am a Christian who was actively and regularly involved in ‘church’ and who just got up one Sunday a few years back and decided that I wasn’t going any more. Part of the reason was that I ended up feeling angrier after service than before and the ‘airy-fairy’ answers of my friends/religious leaders etc. to concerns that I raised just got me more frustrated. I find Young has answered 1/2 of my questions in a more credible way than I’ve heard previously.

                    • February 21, 2016 at 12:17 pm

                      I didn’t finish it actually, but I agree that his imagery was very effective. I know what you mean about feeling frustrated. I was blessed that the man who was my minister for 10 years never dismissed my concerns, was capable of answering many of them, and honest enough to admit he didn’t have all the answer but that didn’t make the questions unimportant. I’ve come to believe that we will never in this life have all the answers but must live with the tension of not knowing.

                      I’ve never been completely comfortable with some of the *answers* I got re evil and the seeming ‘unfairness’ that some get so much to bear. I’ve gotten far enough in this book that I actually make better sense of his explanations than some of the others I’ve had in the past. Indeed, some of his explanations have been tension-removing. ๐Ÿ™‚

      They NEVER stop – No-one in the Bush admin answered for the crimes they committed – the thousands who died – but this GOP congress is seriously looney. Do they think the world isn’t watching?

  24. February 15, 2016 at 12:45 am

    Before departing for the evening just want to note that Trump’s attack on George Bush re: 9/11 has caused me to wonder just what the guy is doing, especially since he is a TeeeVeee ACTOR.

    Any Democrat saying the stuff Trump said about GWB, based on the reports I’ve read (since I’d never spend time watching such filth) would have been excoriated these past 24 hours.

    No “institutional Republican” would dare speak so boldly about GWB.

    So, I’m taking a step back and doing the ‘hmmmmmmm ….’ thing ….

    Good night TOD.
