He is the only man who can rock what we used to call “high water pants.” I am still reeling from the Versace print pants that he wore the other day. Cam is confidence personified; he ignores the haters and the doubters and does his own thing.

      I pity those who have invested so much in hating, disrespecting and rooting against Mr. Cam Newton;

it would be fantastic if he not only the Panthers win but if he is the MVP …. haters are gonna hate

Cam is 26 years old. He just happens to also be a great football player. Out here we have many professional and regular 26 year olds who exude confidence. I love it 🙂

How many times have I had that intention when I first met a guy, but the MFer never managed to upgrade and I had to give up 🙂 ?

Both Michelle and Barack are exceptional human beings – so glad they found each other and so proud that they represent our country!

Also, I love how real and normal and not “politician-y” they are.

O.k. just got home and have to watch this interview b4 the game. I recorded the whole 4 hours of the program just so I wouldn’t miss POTUS and FLOTUS with Gayle KIng. I need to erase it and make room for the game and Stephen Colbert Late Show live coming up 🙂

Is anyone else going to listen to Key and Peele live commenting the game on Squarespace?

I saw Gayle King’s POTUS/FLOTUS interview and I’m in love. There’s a part two with just Gayle and PBO talking policy and strategy. I love love how respectful Gayle was with PBO and FLOTUS even though they’re friends. It was such a fun and relaxed interview and it included one of my all time favorite photos. Oh damn, I just wanna cry because I love love my President and First Lady so much. I just don’t want to let them go.

The First Couple are a model for marital love.

Yes they are, Bill, and I have to admit I’m sometimes envious of it. They are so comfortable with themselves and each other in any situation. This is what I don’t undestand: how anyone can look at them and not see their love, decency, and empathy shining through, no matter whether you agree with their politics.

Really enjoying all these “old” players. Always enjoy segments like this at the SB.

I’m torn in this game. Yes, I know Peyton’s politics and I do NOT like that about him. However, he IS University of Tennessee football. I also really like Cam Newton and respect him so much…….his independence, his joy, his happiness. Guess I’ll be happy with whoever wins. Main thing is no serious injuries and a good, well-played game.

To be frank, I do not follow any team of any sport. The only time that I actually watch any sports competition is during the Olympics and the occasional Figure Skating championships. For the Super Bowl I only check for the winning team so that I will not sound ignorant the next day at work. I watch the half-time show only if I remember to do so and if the artist is someone I enjoy. So for this game, I will be reading a book and checking periodically for the score (pulling for the Panthers) and the 2nd part of the PBO interview with Gayle King.

Young reader builds list of #1000BlackGirlBooks
    By Emanuella Grinberg, CNN
Updated 6:49 AM ET, Fri February 5, 2016

By fifth grade, Marley Dias decided she had grown tired of reading books about “white boys and their dogs.”

Nothing against “Where the Red Fern Grows,” she said, but surely there are books about black girls to which she could relate.

“My mom asked me, ‘What are you going to do about it?’ ” the 11-year-old recalled. “I told her I was going to start a book drive.”

After starting sixth grade in the fall of 2015, Marley decided the time had come to make her idea a reality. Marley launched #1000BlackGirlBooks in November to raise awareness of books featuring black girls and other people of color as protagonists.

“Whenever you see a character you identify with, you carry it with you and it inspires you,” Marley said. “I want to introduce girls like me to books that will inspire them.”

Through word of mouth, the campaign has grown into a global phenomenon. News outlets around the world have covered her effort to collect 1,000 books by February 11 — just in time for Black History Month in the United States. Some books will go to a library in Saint Mary Parish, Jamaica, her mother’s hometown; the rest will go to Marley’s former elementary school in West Orange, New Jersey.

Good for her! I was so tired of Alice and Jerry and their dog Jip when I was in elementary school. I was in High School when the push for including the works and history of Black people and other people of colors started in the colleges and universities; it took awhile for things to trickle down, especially in the South. I probably would have gained my hard-earned positive sense of self sooner if I had had books that represented people like me when I was this young lady’s age. What a wonder girl she is to tackle this and how good of her mom to let her know that if she wanted something to change that she had to do something about it. This makes me think of what PBO always says: “We are the ones that we have been waiting for.”
