        hello Ms. Chips!

logged on, left my comment, and was immediately interrupted.

hope you have had a great week and that a less adventurous weekend awaits you …. but with your “construction projects” and pet rescues, one never knows

        • February 5, 2016 at 7:49 pm

😆 I’m definitely taking a break from my construction projects, Linda, and prayin’ no more bundles of fluffiness come in to my life – for a while at least. Have a great weekend!

I know I should never admit to my truth – my best effort in construction projects is finding a container to hold the screws and nails that fall out of the little plastic bags. Mr 99 not only reads the instructions – he understands them. I count the screws as I add them to the container.

Thanks to Chips for this nice caption of our POTUS with today’s good news.

Yes siree, (Missie, in your case) I *am* smiling, Chips Chica – about the great economic news AND the really great “chez Chips” doggie news. 🙂 🙂

Thank you Chips. Love good news and pictures of POTUS always brings a smile to my face.

The White House delivered a low blow on Friday, accusing congressional Republicans who are denying the president a chance to pitch his budget of pulling a “Donald Trump.”

Why on earth would this be called a “low blow”. The White house tells the truth. The GOP members of the house are worse than evil. They are evil & racist to the core – care not about the constitution and just want to attack the black guy every chance they get.

    Why Bernie Sanders Can’t Govern

Some progressives, like Bill Press, have expressed disappointment with Obama’s failure to further their agenda; to one who has watched the lawmaking process up close and personal for more than four decades, his ability to move the ball in the face of challenges from his own party and Republicans, and in the face of huge headwinds from the conservative wind machine, has been extraordinarily impressive.

.@realBobWoodward So, about that “shouting” thing

  7. February 5, 2016 at 6:58 pm

Just got done watching all three nightly newscasts……not a single mention of the jobs report NBC (stories on Olympics & Weed profits in CO more important) ABC (no mention, apparently a liquor store attempted robbery and Johnny Manziel threatening his ex took precedent) CBS was the only newscast to mention the report (15 minutes in a 30 second spot) freaking pathetic.

    On a lighter note….

“Several U.S. cities and states are currently considering laws to regulate the small, personal-use quadcopters we’ve all agreed to call “drones,” but once those laws are in place, how do you stop drone pilots who violate them? The Dutch National Police are way ahead of us on that one: They’ve been training eagles to take down unruly drones. A video hit YouTube Monday showing an eagle trained by Dutch police and the Hague-based raptor-training firm Guard From Above as it snatches a drone from midair without suffering any damage from its spinning props. At the IEEE’s Spectrum blog, Evan Ackerman raised some concerns Monday about the safety risks of using birds as anti-drone weapons, especially in the U.S., where some eagle species are legally protected….continued”

“If one thing could make Mission Impossible stunts even cooler, it’s robotic landing gear. DARPA conducted an experimental demonstration with a chopper containing four insect-like legs that make landing on uneven and moving surfaces easier and more stable. The articulated, jointed legs can fold up next to the helicopter’s fuselage while in flight. During landing, the legs use force-sensitive contact sensors to determine the right angle to land in real time. In other words, it’s basically a flying metal spider.

The experimental demonstration showed that one of the potential benefits included “landing and take-off on sloping terrain of up to 20 degrees, more than twice current limits,” according to a news piece from DARPA. Other bonuses include reduced risk of damage during hard landings and the ability to land on ships in violent sea states.”

“We’ve seen little flying drones carrying cameras and guns, shooting gorgeous video and crashing the White House lawn. But now they’re carrying spools of rope, and they’re on a mission to build. For the first time, a small flying squadron of drones has built a structure stable enough to stand on. A team of scientists at the architecture and design university ETH Zurich programmed the flying team of self-piloting drones as part of a program to use drones for construction projects. The copters start out by scanning the existing structure — the scaffolding on either side of the room was set up by human hands, and the team manually adjusted the robots’ code to account for the spacing.

“In order to be able to design tensile structures that are buildable with flying robots, a series of computational tools have been developed, specifically addressing the characteristics of the building method,” Federico Augugliaro, one of the researchers who built the drone system, wrote for the release of the video. “The design tools allow to simulate, sequence, and evaluate the structure before building.” Once they have their tasks, the copters automatically get to work maneuvering, weaving and knotting the rope bridge together using 300 feet of rope, fed to the drones via small spools on their back. As they slice through the air, fastening and threading the rope, no human interferes with their work once. Once the bridge was complete, the bridge was strong enough to carry the research team safely across. This kind of structure could be built at any height, and could be useful for emergency situations or at construction sites, where drones are already making their way into everyday use for surveying purposes….continued”

“Do you feel the bern?” Robyn Gedrich wrote in Tinder messages, according to Buzzfeed News. “Please text WORK to 82623 for me. Thanks.”

Gedrich, a 23-year-old New Jersey resident, sent messages to 60 people per day, according to Reuters. If people sent a text message to the number she provided, they start receiving updates from the Sanders campaign and a link where they would sign up to volunteer.

Social media is a good resource for campaigns, but this is over-stepping to the point of abusing the resource.

I like the idea of something that stops you from losing your place in a conversation, which always drove me nuts, but this is a mess. Half the time I can’t scroll up or down, I’m kinda locked on the tweet that pops up. Yuck!

        February 5, 2016 at 8:28 pm

In theory, it’s a nice idea, but yeah in practice, – I’m with you on this – not so much. It’s clunky, when you x out it takes you to your profile page, then you have to click on notifications to get back to your notifications. It’s an extra step that’s unnecessary. The forward and back buttons don’t work on the tweet, you can’t scroll up or down, if you accidentally get x’d out you’ve lost the entire tweet and have to begin the annoying process again. AAAARGGHHHH!

I think my question was rhetorical – but I was remembering 2008/12 when Michelle Obama was an incredible campaigner – always there when needed, always positive & such a necessary part of the campaign.

Truly sad that a man can’t introduce his partner to the country – cause for better or worse, the First Partner does have a role to play in US politics.

Statement by the President on the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting

Thirteen years ago tomorrow, four first ladies in Africa came together and declared an International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C). They knew that by targeting and holding back girls, this practice harms and holds back entire communities. Since then, countless others–from the Middle East to South Asia to here in the United States–have joined these women to say that FGM/C has no place in any community and undermines our efforts to celebrate and empower women and girls.

Some people say that FGM/C is a rite of passage–something families do to help prepare girls for adulthood or marriage. In my travels last year, I made clear my view that “there’s no reason that young girls should suffer genital mutilation.” Just because this is a tradition in some places does not make it right. This practice is harmful, and therefore wrong wherever it occurs. That is why we have funded programming to combat FGM/C in places like Guinea, just as we have launched a range of actions here at home to stop the practice. In the United States, we have criminalized the transport of girls to undergo FGM/C, worked with religious leaders and community-based organizations to raise awareness–especially in some immigrant communities, where the pressures to engage in this practice remain–and provided grant opportunities for domestic NGOs implementing innovative prevention strategies.

Today, we stand with communities here and around the globe working to prevent FGM/C. We call on girls and their families, teachers, health workers, community and religious leaders, and government officials to act together to make a difference. It’s time to put an end to this harmful practice, and to allow communities everywhere to meet their full potential by enabling women and girls to meet theirs.

So I’m a couple of threads behind & still in shock that after years of economic growth & so many positives for the US – congress now refuses to see PBO’s budget.

Every last thing they have tried has failed. The media never reports on their non stop evil actions – but the President carries on regardless – and there is nothing they can do that will make him implode. How truly sad.

And it seems Bernie chose the wrong party – the GOP would have welcomed him with open arms.

Great tweet, Chips! If Sanders was such a progressive savior, why didn’t he run for President in 2008 when the economy was on the brink of total collapse? Or, for that matter why didn’t he run in 1984, 1988, 1992,1996, 2000, 0r 2004? The drastic income gap between the 1% and the 99% didn’t start from Nov. 4th, 2008; It’s been growing since the 1980s! But now that the economy is doing quite well, as result of the hard work by President Obama and his administration, Bernie Sanders is ready to ride a Whitehorse to save it. Now that millions of Americans, who formerly had no Health Insurance, are now insured under Obama Care, Bernie Sanders is coming to the rescue with his single payer? Bernie Sanders is 74 years-old. Why did he wait to launch his socialist Revolution after a black guy, who has been an exptional president, was elected Prrsident? If Bernie was a younger man who has not been around since the 1980s, I could understand his passion and his nievity about leading a Revolution as President.
