Congratulations, Dee! President Obama continues his string of moving speeches calling us to heed our better angels! Of course, the GOP will call this divisive because they are all about hate and fear, not love and hope like our President.

Oh Sue, that’s horrible! Don’t let them get away with this. If they don’t return your rug to you – in whatever condition, then make them pay you for it. And threaten to sue if they don’t!

Small claims court shouldn’t cost you much; They’ll pay for the rug. It’s different by each state.

how crazy is it that there’s a presidential candidate that “the news” is trying so hard to promote, who first uses his mommy to come to the rescue, and now his big brother?!? to be the leader of the free world?!?

looks like this current crop of bushes might flame out now (i’m still not counting him out though), but they’re already prepping the next generation to try again in the next decade or two. this family is pure evil.

It has become obvious that, if you are a Black person, on order to endorse Bernie Sanders for President, you must first denounce PBO. This is such a routine occurance now that I can’t help but assume that this directive is coming from the campaign and the candidate himself. He seems to be actively running against the President and seeking the support and votes of those who dislike him. This is why those of us who support PBO have been turned off by Sanders’ candidacy. He doesn’t seem to want our support. A couple of weeks ago, the campaign was revealed to be pursiung a “white voter” strategy. Believe me, I have not forgotten Hillary and Bill’s dog whistles from ’08, but at least she now recognizes that she needs the Obama coalition in order to win. Sanders is acting like we don’t matter.

            • February 4, 2016 at 4:32 pm

This was apparent from the start of his campaign. I remember him or someone on his campaign saying that they could siphon off white voters from the GOP. My first thought was, “why do you want the racists back”, but my second thought was, “you’ll never be able to go low enough for them”.

So what is it now, black folks attack President Obama time. What is Benjamin Jealous selling now? Do he have a book he is selling? Where all black folks suppose to rise to the top because a black President was elected? I bet Ben Jealous is doing fine.

      • February 4, 2016 at 11:57 am

I’ve had enough of these folks. Most of us still support our President.

        • February 4, 2016 at 12:16 pm

Bernie Sanders aren’t going to do a dam thing. These supporters of Sanders knows that Sanders will have to deal with these Republicans, maybe they think a old white man can deal with them better.

        • February 4, 2016 at 1:33 pm

Today’s PPP poll. Hillary has support of AA people 82/8. I’d take the John Lewis endorsement over Ben (who is he?) Jealous any day. He has real moral standing.

I am reminded of reading something on the life of Nelson Mandela that indicated when he was arrested and imprisoned life became worse for the black community, at least for a time, or at least many felt like it had. If any Americans perceived to be in an outgroup become empowered there will be the inevitable pushback. Its like the adage, first they ignore you, then mock you, then fight you, then you win.

I think the President has always shown awareness of this and worked to keep the pushback at a minimum. He doesn’t sacrific others, only puts himself on the line. Whether its the gay community, the muslim community, the AA community, the hispanic community, the native american community, his inclusion efforts have been fierce but to all those that just look on the surface, as usual it flies under their radar. Just like many efforts of his administration, its done before many even know it was in the works. His timing is wondrous and awesome. No one gets left out either. Everyone belongs and matters in his world.

They’re also attacking Hillary from everywhere. I read 6 negative headlines about Hillary on the Yahoo frontpage. It’s incredible how much they both are being vilified. It breaks my heart when it happens to PBO and although I’m hesitant about Hillary, it disturbs me how much positive press Bernie is getting.

I hate Bama with all my heart, but this is cool (Derrick Henry RB for 2016 National Champs)

If you are a college football fanatic like me then yesterday was the high equivalent of the NFL draft with National Signing Day. Houston’s coaching staff is incredible. (Head coach Tom Herman was the Offensive Cord. for the 2015 National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes) He even promised his players befoere the season that he would get a Grill if they won their Conference Championship (the AAC and he did)

“Office space” re-enactment….they even use the Ghetto Boys (local Houston rap group) music from the movie 😀 😀 😀

For those that aren’t familiar….College football coaches have to sit by a fax machine starting at 7:00 a.m. est Feb. 3rd, and wait to see if a 17 yr. old kid who you and your staff have spent 2+ years recruiting to your school will fax in their signed (LOI) Letter Of Intent, which is them signing their scholarship papers to play football at your school. It is a maddening 12 hours to find out if your hard work paid off, or the kid changed his mind and got poached by another school!

    White America’s ‘Broken Heart’
    Charles M. Blow
    FEB. 4, 2016

America has a gauzy, romanticized version of its history that is largely fiction. According to that mythology, America rose to greatness by sheer ruggedness, ingenuity and hard work. It ignores or sidelines the tremendous human suffering of African slaves that fueled that financial growth, and the blood spilled and dubious treaties signed with Native Americans that fueled its geographic growth. It ignores that the prosperity of some Americans always hinged on the oppression of other Americans.

Much of America’s past is the story of white people benefiting from a system that white people designed and maintained, which increased their chances of success as it suppressed those same chances in other groups. Those systems persist to this day in some disturbing ways, but the current, vociferous naming and challenging of those systems, the placing of the lamp of truth near the seesaw of privilege and oppression, has provoked a profound sense of discomfort and even anger.

    • February 4, 2016 at 12:25 pm

      Bottom Line:

” All you gotta be is WHITE”

doesn’t go as far as it used to.

when you are used to it being enough for EVERYTHING, and think you were ENTITLED to it being enough…

and, now, you have to compete with folks who NEVER thought that they were ENTITLED to ANYTHING….

you don’t know how to cope.

I really don’t know what to say or how to feel about this article. But I will say this, “we did not design this system that chews up and spits out black souls like a mulcher chews up and spits out tree limbs into a million pieces.”

My husband is “white” but he refers to himself as English and German because he knows his history; his European family history. He knows white people did not ORIGINATE on the North American continent. He knows his ancestors came from Europe. I really really need white folks to start accepting the reality that their European origins. I need white people to go a step further and admit the Europeans who came over here were mostly from the bottom of the social ladder – uneducated, often unskilled, tribal, and violent. i need white people to first own where they came from and then who they are. This will truly takes us down the road to truth and reconciliation.

when I heard that they were declaring winners based on ‘toin cosses’

that means that there WAS NO WINNER on the Democratic Side of the Iowa Caucus.

Des Moines Register Calls for Audit of Democratic Caucuses

What happened Monday night at the Democratic caucuses was a debacle, period. Democracy, particularly at the local party level, can be slow, messy and obscure. But the refusal to undergo scrutiny or allow for an appeal reeks of autocracy.

The Iowa Democratic Party must act quickly to assure the accuracy of the caucus results, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

First of all, the results were too close not to do a complete audit of results. Two-tenths of 1 percent separated Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. A caucus should not be confused with an election, but it’s worth noting that much larger margins trigger automatic recounts in other states.

Second, too many questions have been raised. Too many accounts have arisen of inconsistent counts, untrained and overwhelmed volunteers, confused voters, cramped precinct locations, a lack of voter registration forms and other problems. Too many of us, including members of the Register editorial board who were observing caucuses, saw opportunities for error amid Monday night’s chaos.

It could easily cost that much. No doubt it will cost a phenomenal amount. Because ALL health care costs in the country would funnel through the government-run system. According to his plan, in his little 8-page proposal. He promises that everything will be covered – no co-pays, no deductibles, no premiums. Just your “modest” tax increase. And the employers and rich people gleefully happy to agree to paying huge tax increases.

Of course, there is the minor problem that he does not name the 44% of “cost savings” that would be required to make his promises true. His campaign says that by swapping tax increases for out of pocket expenses & premiums will be a wash.

He’s lying! I am beginning to think he’s been a foggy thinker his entire life, getting by with criticism of everyone else and never having to produce results.

    The GOP’s Crump Cancer

Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are two faces of the same phenomenon—the rise of conservative populism with a mean streak—empowered by the GOP’s purge of the center-right.

When asked to assess the presidential prospects of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, Sen. Lindsey Graham famously said, “It’s like being shot or poisoned. I think you get the same result, whether it’s quick or takes a long time.”

Republicans breathing a sigh of relief because Cruz beat Trump in Iowa are rejoicing at the prospect of being poisoned. They may have dodged a bullet, but there’s a long-term critical condition they can’t afford to ignore.
