“Not long after President Barack Obama ordered U.S. airstrikes in Libya in 2011, his national security adviser, Tom Donilon, trekked to Capitol Hill to brief Democratic senators. After a few minutes of discussion about the military operation, Bernie Sanders took the floor .
To talk about the economy.
‘Sanders delivered a meandering manifesto about Democratic messaging on the economy,” says a former Senate chief of staff. “It wasn’t that his insights were wrong. It just wasn’t the time or place. Everyone was thinking, ‘Here goes Bernie!’ ‘”
1. Do you talk to the president every morning he wakes up?
2. Have you ever read the U.S. Constitution?
3. You are a member of Congress; are you aware that Congress is charged with the power of impeachment of the President who is violating the Constitution?
4. If PRESIDENT Obama is violating the U.S. Constitution how come the Republican dominated Congress has not began impeachment proceedings to immediately remove him from office?
Since Rubio has the attention span of a gnat, nath, not sure he’d get past Question No. 1, without needing a chug of water, but we could try this and see what develops. 🙂 (Laughing to keep from crying, myself. These people are beyond annoying.)
Not that I had any inclination to vote for him, but Bernie has totally lost any access to my vote after signing off on that Bill Press book attacking President Obama. Why would they even write that shit now or ever? I just do not understand this bs at all.
I don’t understand it, either. But part of it is that they will never be or hope to be or figure out how to be President Obama. And it kills them. He gives them ulcers and nightmares just by being who he is. And when I say they “pale in comparison,” and that he comes out on top every time, you know what I mean, too. It’s pathetic.
He brushes them off his shoulders, and we must, too. Otherwise, it’ll eat us alive. I’m surprised we made it this far, keeping our sanity, and it’s probably only because he has kept his, and led the way.
Recently, I heard a quote about something or someone (I’ve forgotten) that I’ll try to bring over to President Obama. We don’t know how he does it, but he continues to retain his dignity, his path, and the authority of his position, despite all the obstacles. And that, alone, is truly HIS form of resistance to all of it. I’m for that.
Good evening Jacqueline! I love your poetry, humor and wise commentaries. Most importantly, how is your precious son doing? You are both in my thoughts and prayers.
You are so kind, nath. My precious son is doing well, thanks, and – since his testing was moved ahead a week due to a scheduling glitch – trying to keep his mind on pleasant things each day! He’s amazing at that.
PBO has brought a giant revolution to this country. It’s just not an angry, shouting one.
The fact that I can now afford to go to the doctor for checkups or if I have a concern is revolutionary.
Being able to call my girlfriend the night of the election in ’08 and say ” OMG….the First Lady is Black” is revolutionary.
Normalizing relations with Cuba is revolutionary.
LGBT marriage and other milestones in LGBT rights is revolutionary
Paris Climate Change Accord is revolutionary
A nuclear deal with Iran is revolutionary
Female head of the Federal Reserve is revolutionary
Closing all secret detention facilities around the world is revolutionary
Banning the use of antibiotics in food for Gov facilities is revolutionary
Appointing the most diverse Cabinet in history with more women appointed than any other President is revolutionary
The Claims Resolution Act, which provided $4.6 billion in funds for a legal settlement with black and Native American farmers who had been cheated out of government loans and natural resource royalties is revolutionary.
Thanks MadameSoph for highlighting President Obama’s record of accomplishments. I am four years younger than Bernie Sanders, which means that we’ve both have basically lived under the same U.S. Presidents. As far as I am concerned, President Obama is the best President in my lifetime.
‘We don’t know how he does it, but he continues to retain his dignity, his path, and the authority of his position, despite all the obstacles. And that, alone, is truly HIS form of resistance to all of it. I’m for that.’
He is unparalleled in his ability to keep moving and brushing off the bs. I stopped trying to emulate that brilliance 😉 But haters gonna hate, and its apparent that Bernie is full of envy & jealousy. He will never sit in that “The President” chair. Evah.
This is reflective of the difference between the Clinton campaign and the Sanders campaign. It actually seems as if Clinton is choosing the respect, empower, include approach thank goodness. Sanders, not. Those who comment here are very aware of the treatment of the President over these years in office by the cynical left. It has drawn ire in the same way the treatment by Birchers and greedy on the right has done. To now tap into the frustration and revulsion that was elicited by all those slights is about as dumb as it gets. Sanders has no common sense,
Yes, I don’t know what I’d do if Clinton was running from or attacking President Obama too. I just do not and never will understand any dem running from this amazing POTUS.
Even before the book, he lost me by using Cornell West and Killer Mike as surrogates and copying PBO’s slogans and speeches from 2008 and pretending he is the original warrior for change.
I admit to not knowing about that stuff as – except for POTUS and his admin- I’ve been staying away from most politics. But I know now and he’s not much better than a repub in my eyes.
The “Christian Right” seem to have given up the pretense of being Christians if they would support a man who has rarely seen inside a church, who fought tooth and nail to avoid the military, who has been twice divorced & says weird things about his daughter, who attacks anyone who questions his reality etc etc etc
I feel at times the America of the GOP is the alternate universe here on earth.
You know, 99ts, my nephew who is a devout Christian and an evangelical tells me that the “Christian Right” has debased Christ’s message. He spent 25 years in your country, first as a law student and then as a law professor. He is now a law professor in New York. He is totally disgusted that the media has allowed the “Christian Right” to hijack Christianity.
Our new retirement home is run by a religious organisation (protestant). We have had to supply all sorts of information about ourselves, but not once have we been asked as to our religion.
I’m thinking your nephew must be able to separate his religion from his profession as apart from our more recent PM (now fortunately gone) there has rarely if ever been religion involved in the law over the past 100 or more years in my part of the world. Do hope your nephew enjoyed his time down under.
He absolutely insists on separating church and state and respecting people of various faiths. He especially hates homophobes who he believes are misinterpreting the Bible. He absolutely loved the time he spent “down under.” And so does his three children (two are lawyers and the third is into acting). Although I am not religious, we get along very well. He wants me to set aside some vacation time to come with him to Australia.
Technically, I don’t think the Cheney clan ever goes out in the sunlight … they wait until nightfall. The sun during the day gets reflected off all those silver crosses people are constantly holding up to them, when they’re spotted on the street.
Please, please, please make him the next Bond! Haven’t been to a Bond film in forever, but I would go (to a movie theater) and see him as James Bond in a heartbeat!
I WATCHED THIS…THE AFRICAN AMERICAN WINS WERE AS THEY SHOULD BE…THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE…I WATCHED… IT WAS AWESOME AND SO WELL DESERVED!…WELCOME TO ‘DIVERSE TELEVISION’…NICE CHANGE!
Mr. Muscatinegal just confessed that he got a call from The Iowa Poll yesterday, but hung up on them. 🙄 Oh, well. That’s how sick we are of this whole process.
Sono la Prima?
Congrats MadameSoph on #1! 🙂
⭐
Yay! Thanks for the laughs, NW and thank you for highlighting the Jane tweets on the previous thread.
That Ambassador is so stiff he looks Photoshopped in!

Normally I don’t read Politico, but saw a link to this somewhere else. Interesting read.

I won’t even say what I really feel liking saying about Rubio here…
Yes…I’m sure the Constitutional lawyer does that every day. What a fucking idiot. I want them all to STFU and go away. Every one of them.
the thugs have the majority in both houses and as well as supreme court. so why none of them have the guts to start impeaching him?
vitriol and lies are the only things the thugs have to campaign with.
Silly me, I thought he might wake up every morning saying “Good Morning Michelle.”
🙂
Ha. I’m sure he does!
perfect 🙂
What irks me even more is how the press just mouths these idiotic statements like a parrot…helping to spread the vitriol…
Someone should ask Rubio four questions:

“These people are beyond annoying.”
I agree with you, J’OB. What infuriates me the most are the media people who let them get away with spewing total nonsense.

^5. This.
Very well said, J”OB!
Thanks, nath, and good evening to you!

Appreciate all of it, so much!

Just the same here. Completely bewildered by the idiocy, and also by the apparent throngs of supporters.
yep, never will understand.

I hope she’s afraid to go out to the sunlight by the time its over….evil people. Evil.Evil.Evil.
Technically, I don’t think the Cheney clan ever goes out in the sunlight … they wait until nightfall. The sun during the day gets reflected off all those silver crosses people are constantly holding up to them, when they’re spotted on the street.
