Exactly. All the President has to do is stand next to a person like that to tell the world who the “loser” is. And it’s not the President, as you know!
Donald really should not have put that tweet out. He just told the world that he couldn’t understand any of the speech and became bored. If he was smart, his tweet should have said that he was taking copious notes. Tsk, tsk, tsk
Beautiful images, NW! Did you happen to notice the look that came over the First Lady’s face – I believe the last time the camera was on her, right after the President had finished his remarks. To me (the great reader of faces – Ha!), it appeared she was saying to herself, “There. It’s done. His final State of the Union address. So proud of him. So happy for him.”
Yes it was, J’OB. I saw that look, and tears just came to my eyes. I could feel the love, relief, still that support of hope and love for him. It was a beautiful moment, indeed.HZ
President Obama and the First Lady fill me with hope and the strong desire to do more to help others. What an inspiring address to the USA and the world! What an amazing president! God bless the First Family.
1. Change doesn’t mean we clamp down on one group or idea.
2. The choice is between fear and confidence.
3. Don’t buy Republican claims that the U.S. economy is in shambles.
4. Don’t buy Republican claims that America is weak either.
5. Attacking Islam won’t make us safer.
6. Addressing the Islamic State is more complicated than a sound bite on TV.
7. Bullying Muslims makes things worse.
8. We are giving ‘extreme voices’ too much attention.
9. Don’t fall back on scapegoats or stereotypes.
10. America is about love and optimism, not fear.
Those were my thoughts exactly. Our President goes big, really big in his speeches and the sullen pouting of the Rs just reveals their smallness. Ever more so this evening in the SOTU.
Exactly. All politics aside, he is your president and how about showing respect for the office. In the last 7 years, the rethugs have shown how ugly they really are and yet more and more americans vote for them. Reinforcing the ugly american meme.
The camera showed the face of FLOTUS when the President spoke about the financial collapse not being cause by people on food stamps but reckless Wall St. You could see her jaw tighten visibly and a stern glare on her face.
She was agreeing with him. She stood up and started clapping. I think the stern look was her own anger/frustration at those who try to scapegoat public assistance recipients.
I love the fact that POTUS said that about the people on food stamps didn’t cause the financial crisis, it was the people on wall street. I have said that same thing before.
I sorta watched one of Snyder’s pressers, where he was sucking up to the Mayor of Flint, appearing to think she’d pull him out of the “fix” he’s in, now, having been found out for what transpired. He probably never wanted to speak to her, before. She acted standoffish, which I was glad to see.
Now that’s more like it 🙂 I’ve noticed that she’s been doing this for awhile now. Maybe she finally got some better campaign people who ran the numbers correctly and let her know that she cannot win without the Obama Coalition. If she keeps this up I’ll feel much better about voting for her. First, because I still haven’t forgotten 2008, so she has a lot to make up for, and, second, because I can’t imagine anyone being a competent liberal leader who didn’t acknowledge and learn from PBO and want to build on his accomplishments and vision.
Looks like you and I posted the same info at the same time.
Since I don’t have cable or TV, no chance for me to actually see CNN — the actual exchange on CNN was infuriating — Jake Tapper scowlingly repeating word-for-word the idiotic things that Wolf Blitzer said.
And the MSM is clueless why Americans have such a low opinion of PBO, after being force-fed this nonsense since CNN began cheerleading the “Tea Party” after ACA became law.
Ugh! Why did I switch from CSPAN? Steve Schmidt sitting up there blaming PBO for the political climate knowing his party leaders met and conspired to sabotage President Obama at every turn no matter what! Not one bit of pushback on that from Rachel or Chris Hayes! Arrrgh!
.@chrislhayes .@maddow Can't believe you guys make no mention of GOP leadership conspiring to sabotage PBO from day one in 2009.
What a magnificent oration by the greatest leader our nation and our world has ever known. Great leaders are there, but none has ever faced anything close to the challenges, obstacles, dangers, and problems which President Barack Obama found on his desk on Day 1. He has always, always been this person. He has always always spoken these truths, expressed these principles and values, counseled these wise, positive, practical, humane, and worthy goals and actions. It gives me a little bit of relief from my frustration with the opposition and resistance and barrage of negativity he has endured (and over which he triumphs time and again), to remember that in order to make people dislike, fear, and oppose him, they have to lie, lie, and lie again. Only by creating and sustaining huge lies and falsehoods about this great president are they able to orchestrate the opposition. By blaming him for everything negative and ignoring completely or dismissing any victories and successes that he Keeps.On.Bringing.Home. It is a great privilege and joy to watch work, speak, lead, and just do everyday life with his family, team, friends and people like me. He wants the best for all of us. ALL OF US!!! Even those who work feverishly to foment hatred and bring him down. He is a big person with a huge brain, huge heart, and huge spirit. I am thankful for TOD where I can follow him daily. Thank you Chips. Thank you NerdyWonka. Thank you, blog tyrants and faithful friends who share this community. This is a glorious night and I will always remember the ordinary days of TOD, and the great days like this. Rest Easy, TOD family — POTUS is going to bed in the White House, and he will awaken there tomorrow morning to Take Care of Business for all of us. God bless and keep President Obama and his precious family.
Nerdy Wonka thank you for the wonderful tweet summation of the “greatest hits” from tonight. Just got home from work and haven’t watched yet. Your tweets and pics of FLOTUS gave me just enough to get through dinner first (don’t want to eat while I listen to PBO) and then, afterwards, settle under a blanket and watch our PBO with my full attention (the first of many times I know I will watch it). After which, I will celebrate with a piece of caramel frosted spice cake and ice cream 🙂
“Before David Bowie became an iconic rock star, he spent time typing a sweet response to a 14-year-old New Mexican who sent him his ‘very first American fan letter.’”
Love the corrections in this typewritten letter to the 14-year-old fan: “Exciting mail doesn’t come to Espanola all that often.”
Hi, LP, and thanks so much for this news. Pretty sure this will be the push Joe and his family need, to move forward a little in their struggle to keep going. He couldn’t have picked a better path, and I’m so thankful the way the President announced it, during the SOTU.
NerdyWonka, your tweeting of the President’s brilliant, inspiring SOTU was stellar, and incredible. Thankful for you getting the story, capturing the words and ideas, AND seasoning it frequently with sizzling, spectacular wit. Thankful for you every day.
Yeah, right, Snyder. Believe the remaining question is why didn’t he call in FEMA back in October or even before that, when this was already an issue? And now he’s asking for FEMA support – too late for many of the residents and their children, affected by the contaminated water.
During the SOTU address I noticed the camera focusing on a man wearing glasses a couple of times. He was located directly behind Michelle. Just wondered if anyone knows who it was? He shows up in the second photo and the bottom photo at the top of the page.
@cbsnews reports that #MicrosoftCEO was invited in recognition for the company’s leadership in expanding access to computer science in schools and its support of Teach.org.
Yes, thank God for your sister’s recovery! My son’s doing well – thanks. Supposed to have a CT scan this month, then – hopefully – his final surgery (we hope) in February, to close up the “shark bite” wound in his back. Whew. He still has the very positive attitude about all of it – good thing because I would have lost it a long time ago, if he didn’t, truth be told!
Mine, too, JOB. I’ve lost two brothers to cancer; one in January 2014, the other in October 2015. There were six of us, now there’s only three, and it’s hard dealing with losing three brothers in less than four years. When my brothers were diagnosed with cancer, it was like a gut-punch, something we did NOT expect.
Set my alarm at 3 am (9 pm Eastern), had issues with my laptop and managed to connect at 10 past probably some two, three minutes into the speech. Was so tired that i just made it through about 20 minutes which has nothing to do with the quality of the speech and everything with me being exhausted this week and suffering from annoying stomach cramps. Will watch again today. Good morning all.
I am veering towards the view that this some ratfucking operation by the war mongering MIC to embarrass their own president during his final sotu. Broken navigation system? From the most sophisticated military? Please.
Congrats, Forus!
I feel that same way, except maybe trying to run a marathon in single-digit temperatures, which is what we have here tonight!
She is gorgeous! The best ever.
This is the tweet from someone who realizes that, tonight, he is NOT the center of attention and that the pundits are not talking about him.
Donald Trump needs to fuck off. Moron. It was boring because his tiny brain couldn`t comprehend such detailed and eloquent words
Exactly. All the President has to do is stand next to a person like that to tell the world who the “loser” is. And it’s not the President, as you know!
“It was boring because his tiny brain couldn`t comprehend such detailed and eloquent words”
You can tell that by the lack of *substance* that is included in his campaign speeches.
thanks abc stenos. we were all eager to know what the dreck thought.
Donald really should not have put that tweet out. He just told the world that he couldn’t understand any of the speech and became bored. If he was smart, his tweet should have said that he was taking copious notes. Tsk, tsk, tsk
The best shots, NW. Thank you.
🙂
Something is wrong with me I can`t stop crying. Four more years please
Hugs to you. Make them happy tears – that we were alive during the age of Obama.
I saw that too, your words exactly describes her expression.
It was beautiful!
Yes it was, J’OB. I saw that look, and tears just came to my eyes. I could feel the love, relief, still that support of hope and love for him. It was a beautiful moment, indeed.HZ
I so agree. Wasn’t it a wonderful evening, all around?
🙂
I love this. This is what living faith looks and sounds like.
GORGEOUS FLOTUS in Narcisso Rodriguez. She never fails to look stunning.
Bringing you the best tweet.
We the People love you, Joe.
Ugh.
Jeb, kind of like your big brother understood those who carried out the 9/11 attack. He understood it so much he ignored the warnings.
In response to Jeb!’s tweet

Best wishes for the sem. No more games.
What a FANTASTIC State of the Union address.
Thank you, President Obama!
Thank you, NW. You’re the best.
I like the tweet about Orange Man crying. He is probably still crying.
🙂
Bravooooo Nerdy Wonka
🙂
President Obama and the First Lady fill me with hope and the strong desire to do more to help others. What an inspiring address to the USA and the world! What an amazing president! God bless the First Family.
FLOTUS looked fabulous!

In fact, those shots are for all GOP candidates. Il Douche is simply the loudest voice with a fowl mouth.
#8 fits the media. Listen up DT pushers!

What stunning pictures. Couldn’t be more proud of this FLOTUS and POTUS. I am so full of tears tonight.
GE TODville.
Posted these on previous thread in response to annieb.
The dress is already sold out, wow!! That FLOTUS magic touch.
So dam proud of them both.
Thanks for the tweets with all those gems, NW. Rt’ed nearly all of them.
I did also. No one live-tweets like Nerdy Wonka!
🙂
🙂
I think our President’s WHCD roast in April will be just as anticipated as his final SOTU! And will be just as great 🙂
The camera showed the face of FLOTUS when the President spoke about the financial collapse not being cause by people on food stamps but reckless Wall St. You could see her jaw tighten visibly and a stern glare on her face.
Bill R. was stern look agreeing with him or disagreeing with him?
She was agreeing with him. She stood up and started clapping. I think the stern look was her own anger/frustration at those who try to scapegoat public assistance recipients.
I love the fact that POTUS said that about the people on food stamps didn’t cause the financial crisis, it was the people on wall street. I have said that same thing before.
yellow and red. is there some kinda messaging going on here?
Wow!
Thanks TOD! You all are busy 😉
Awesome Tweet summations, NW.
In Flint, MI:
I sorta watched one of Snyder’s pressers, where he was sucking up to the Mayor of Flint, appearing to think she’d pull him out of the “fix” he’s in, now, having been found out for what transpired. He probably never wanted to speak to her, before. She acted standoffish, which I was glad to see.

EMPEACH!
Alyssa’s response…
Yes, let’s.

More SOTU fun:
😀 😀 😀 😀
Give Rubio a bottle of water.
That’s hilarious.
LOL!
🙂
no, yellow.
LOL.
First response to @samsanders 😉 :
It wouldn’t be a SOTU without the pundits’ polls.
Looks like you and I posted the same info at the same time.

Ugh.
Still more…
For those who took Drudge clickbait re: Iran and ran with it (looking at YOU, broadcast MSM)…
By Zeus, what are CNN, Fox News are going to talk about in the next 30 days??
US plans can fly? Who knew?
LOL.
Tweet typos are eternal. 😉
Ugh! Why did I switch from CSPAN? Steve Schmidt sitting up there blaming PBO for the political climate knowing his party leaders met and conspired to sabotage President Obama at every turn no matter what! Not one bit of pushback on that from Rachel or Chris Hayes! Arrrgh!
Dudette, I refuse to listen to these sorry ass pundits. After POTUS finish speaking I came to the computer and Obama Diary.
That was my plan. Guess I couldn’t resist peeking at the damned train wreck. Ugh!
Don’t you mean: Why did I switch from MSNBC to C-Span?

Completely off-topic, but this came across my twitter timeline and had to share:

Oh, it’s not soon enough nor is it hard enough.
Great news! 🙂
Goodnight TODVille.
Retiring to my private chamber to listen one more time to the speech!
Hi, LP, and thanks so much for this news. Pretty sure this will be the push Joe and his family need, to move forward a little in their struggle to keep going. He couldn’t have picked a better path, and I’m so thankful the way the President announced it, during the SOTU.
J’OB, I just read that Perelman School of Medicine is the oldest medical school in the United States. What an honor for our VP and love, VPBiden. HZ
How interesting! Our Joe will do well, there (and anywhere he goes!).
So long as this Makes the Right Mad…..I will take the Headline 😉

Wow. It certainly touched my family’s life, last year. God bless Joe Biden and his family.
Mine too. Thank God for the soshalist nhs that saved my sis.
How is your son unit doing?
Yes, thank God for your sister’s recovery! My son’s doing well – thanks. Supposed to have a CT scan this month, then – hopefully – his final surgery (we hope) in February, to close up the “shark bite” wound in his back. Whew. Positive attitude matters most, both for the suffering and the family. I am sure his final surgery will go very well. My best wishes to him.
You just gave me chills with your nice response. Thanks again!!!
J’OB and Amk, hugs to you and your loved ones dealing with cancer.
Thank you, Dudette, and to all other families who are doing the same.

I was thinking the same thing…:)
Oh, what a night! There were more than a few tears at our SOTU watch party!
good bye, mofos.
Good moment from the best tv show ever to end today and greet tomorrow.
LOL…there *was* a lot of discomfort and constipated looks amongst the GOP attendees.
Thank you, John Kerry.
Another talking point for the media morons gone.

Glad that cooler heads prevailed.
Something to ponder amk…
Good Morning TODVille! It was a beautiful night after the memorable and substantial speech by POTUS.
Morning!
