Thanks for the humor, Nerdy. We’re all a little excited and nervous about tomorrow’s SOTU–so many conflicting and bitter sweet emotions as we see the last of this great president’s SOTUs. I feel as if we were preparing for a historic moment that will be remembered for generations. How fortunate we all are to have made this journey together.

Df, he actually said that he would be tempted to vote for Rubio because he’s Hispanic, even though he knows he would be a terrible president. I lost all respect for Ramos at that point.

Really??!! So all these questions to Dems about immigration and building walls and deportation is all bullshit because he really doesn’t care? He’s not just a dick, he’s a moron!

The thing is he ADMITS Rubio would be terrible, but he would feel the “pull” to vote for someone with a Latino name, no matter how horrible they would be. This would be like women voting for Palin because she was a woman. Stupid.

        January 12, 2016 at 1:36 am

The part of this that does scare – there are too many who think this way – they do not like the GOP platform – but they will not vote for a democrat, the know Rubio will be a disaster – but he is their man, they know Trump is a racist but he will “make the country great”.

I think PBO well knows the job he has to do to stop the RWNJs pulling apart his legacy. The GOP preaches fear – I fear that they may win.

I just spent forever writing a post on the last thread – the best President of my lifetime – so I’m bringing it over here

There will be young candidates and candidates of many shapes and colors but I have to agree with amk – I will never see another like PBO in my lifetime – the GOP and the media tried and failed to find ANY negatives that would stick – all they found was an intelligent, educated family man who understands how families work, how an economy works and how the world works.

He cares for the poorest of his countrymen & talks with the richest. As my father used to say – He is a man of kings and paupers – I cannot believe there is only a year left – I cannot believe that people voted for those who would rob him of the ability to do good for the US and the world.

I love what Judith had to say – it must be shouted from the rooftops and proclaimed by the callers – this is and was Camelot and I will not see it again.

We won’t see it again, 99ts, because that’s what greatness means. It’s rare and it’s meant to elevate our expectations. There will be other competent Democratic presidents, but PBO will be the benchmark, the epitome of what they all will strive for.

there is a reason the saudis and their autocratic pals are panicking. the path PBO has set is irreversible and they see that as a threat to their regional hegemony.

It’s going to be a while before the real impact of all that PBO has accomplished truly sinks in and there are going to many collective “wows” and “OMGs” as the reality hits.

    meanwhile, in the real world

Iran has removed the core of its Arak heavy-water nuclear reactor and filled it with cement, according to the country’s official news agency Fars.

The fate of the reactor was one of the toughest sticking points in Iran’s long nuclear negotiations last year.

Under the terms of the deal, Iran agreed the heavy-water reactor would be reconfigured so it was not capable of yielding material for a nuclear weapon.

The removal of the core is one of the final steps required by the deal.

Hillary did a good job with her response. She handled it well and had thought through the issues. The fact is that she will make a formidable debate opponent to any one of the jackasses on the Republican side.

This information is out/known because VP Biden told the story. I don’t believe that Pres Obama nor Mrs Obama would have ever said a word about this. What people do behind close doors, are most important.
This story threw me another appreciation curve of the Obamas. May God Bless them, always.

I want Hillary to show or tell us how she will work with these Republicans better then Obama. I could be wrong but I feel like it’s a swap at POTUS.

    • January 11, 2016 at 11:20 pm

When President Obama first came into offer he tried working with those Republicans, people act like he never tried. But it was the Republicans who decided they would not work with this President.

Describing in an interview with CNN chief political analyst Gloria Borger one of his weekly lunches with Obama, Biden said he told the President he was worried about caring for Beau’s family without his son’s salary.

“I said, ‘But I worked it out.'” Biden recalled telling Obama. “I said, ‘But — Jill and I will sell the house and be in good shape.'”

Obama, Biden remembered, pushed back vehemently on the thought of Biden and his wife selling their home in Wilmington, Delaware.

“He got up and he said, ‘Don’t sell that house. Promise me you won’t sell the house,'” Biden continued, speculating Obama would be “mad” he was retelling the story.

“He said, ‘I’ll give you the money. Whatever you need, I’ll give you the money. Don’t, Joe — promise me. Promise me.’ I said, ‘I don’t think we’re going to have to anyway.’ He said, ‘promise me,'” Biden recalled.

I am going away now. I hate you, kenyan.

I read this blog regularly but rarely repost. He’s not called The Rude Pundit for nothing. However, there is no language strong enough to do justice to the vileness of what has been done to the people of Flint. The more I read about it the angrier and sicker I become.

All of us here at the TOD community know this about our President, but this story tugs at my heart more than any other. This shows the love between these two men and their families. We will never see another POTUS and VPOTUS like these two.

I know, I know. I still love for VP Joe running for President. That’s my sadness & have to accept reality. Damn it!

  23. January 11, 2016 at 11:08 pm

I am touched by the story of Pres Obama’s offer, but not the least bit surprised. That is the man with character, loyalty, and compassion that we know.

I accidentally clicked a video in the TOD sidebar, and heard President Obama’s voice in my living room. Since I have some guilty-pleasure reality show on my DVR I’m watching, I knew it wasn’t the teevee and so I thought he was outside my front door for a second.

Thank God that only lasted a second. Too cold outside to be greeting presidential guests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #RiverCityCabinFever

reading and watching VP Biden’s story about PBO’s offer of financial help, I, again, got angry at the republicans who have targeted VP for a denial of a salary increase.

the gop scumbags did it before and it was also one the things they specifically demanded and included in their most recent budget …. it is just so hard not to hate these people

This particular David Bowie song takes me back to those university days! I always felt there was cheekiness in that song, a fun on stupid angst, and it made feel free in a different way. Somewhat naive, but somehow sophisticated, and somewhat silly! All at the same time! And I found my red shoes! Bless!
