The Miss Universe pageant should be thanking him. How many people would have given the pageant a second thought — much less a first thought — if it had not been for Harvey’s flub?

Pope Francis: Why mercy is essential in faith and life.

After the Vatican approved the release of a prog rock album which set to music some of Pope Francis’ homilies and speeches, the Pope’s new book features him in dialogue with a Vatican expert, Andrea Tornielli.

Its title – The Name of God is Mercy – will be on the cover in a bold red, in the Pope’s own handwriting, and will be published around the world on 12 January to coincide with the 2016 Jubilee Year of Mercy.

The book focuses on the theme of mercy, an issue of central importance to this Pope’s teaching and testimony, first signalled by the name he took as Pope, after St Francis of Assisi.

In the book, the Pope speaks of his experiences of mercy, starting with his own confession to Father Carlos Duarte Ibarra in 1953 on the Feast of St Matthew the Apostle, when the then Jorge Bergoglio was 17.

The Pope’s own distinctive voice as a storyteller shines through; he tells of how he took the cross from the rosary of a priest dear to him and has worn it ever since, touching it when he “has a bad thought” about someone.

Residents ordered to pay for lead contaminated water, state of emergency declared
    POSTED 11:22 AM, JANUARY 6, 2016,
    BY KFOR-TV & K. QUERRY AND CNN

FLINT, Mich. – Residents in one Michigan town are furious after being forced to pay for water they say they can’t use.

“I just paid a water bill, $311, shut off notice or they was gonna turn my water off. I can’t drink it,” said Tonya Calhoun.

Calhoun says she paid her Flint water bill, but she’s far from satisfied with the liquid flowing from the tap.

The water supply has a high lead concentration, which could be harmful if ingested.

However, a judge ruled that residents must pay their bill despite the fact that, in many cases, they only use it for bathing.

“The water is just no good, you know, and we have to take our showers in this stuff,” Bill McCluskey told WNEM. “We itch after that. We have to buy water. It’s not fair.”

City residents say they are insulted by the city’s demand to pay up or lose service all together.

“Why am I paying you $311 for some water that I can’t even use? Can’t cook with it. I can’t do anything with it and the funny part about it is, you know it’s harmful,” Calhoun said.

However, city leaders say it is important for residents to pay for their bills, whether they feel it is justified or not.

If i can’t drink or cook with it and there’s high levels of lead, why bathe in it? I woul use wet ones or wipes. I guess its good for flushing the toilet.

Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family. So, no one won the Big Lottery. Every so often, this happens and reinforces my belief that they do this to build up Lottery fever. I’ll keep my dollars, thank you very much.

    Hello, TOD.
A few days ago it was reported in the Israeli press that Bibi Netanyahu vowed publicly to thwart PBO’s bid to be the next UN Sect’y General.
Today I read an item in the Kuwaiti press discussing this possibility. Kuwait and Israel do not have diplomatic relations.

Apparently Ban-Ki Moons term ends in December and a few days later Sadly, OMG, So Sadly, the Obama presidency ends, too.

This could be nothing more than idle speculation from the mid-east.
    Or maybe it is real.

I can think of no better person for the job of SG than POTUS. Not to mention it would mean at least a part-time base for the Obama family in NY!!!!!
