Since the job growth is no longer an issue, the media has decided to Blame Obama for flat wages..

I had no idea the President controlled private companies wage levels of their employees. Maybe we need to ask PBO for a raise instead of our employer….

media is a one trick pony
blame and bash the President is their favorite story line

      • January 8, 2016 at 7:19 pm

Vicki, it’s like the CNN new poll, where it shows that most Americans support the back ground check. But that wasn’t good enough for CNN, they had to let us know that 54% don’t like POTUS using executive order 44% support 54% against.

I want TOD to tell me the truth
Am I a bad person because I think if you are born in Canada you don’t get to be POTUS?
I get that there is legal language involved, but my gut says if you are not born on USA soil or in US territories or US overseas military bases, maybe you can’t be CIC.

Not that I’m a fan of Cruz or any of the Rethuglican candidates, but if his Mom is an American citizen, he’s an American – unless we’re gonna adopt birtherism and rewrite the Constitution to fit Trump’s agenda.

Would you tell military and diplomatic families serving abroad, “thanks for your service, but your kids are 2nd class citizens”? Is it okay in your mind to tell those kids (who, by the way, might share a global perspective similar to PBO’s from having lived abroad) not to bother aspiring to high office?

My baby brother, may he rest in peace, was born in Germany in a U.S. to two American Army hospital. He was as American as I am and my wish for him would have been to grown up dreaming, no, *knowing* he could be anything he wanted to be.

… born in Germany in a US Army hospital to two American citizen parents…

You misunderstand me. US Army hospital, born to Americans serving our country abroard Diplomatic work—not what I’m talking about.
Not the same as Cruz situation.

            January 8, 2016 at 6:15 pm

Ah, so then you mean, if they’re civilian, all bets are off then. Nope, I’d disagree with that too. If one of the parents is an American citizen, that should be all that matters — no matter where the child is born — whether the family is a military, diplomatic family or not.

All this business about the circumstances of an American citizen’s birth is more of the same kinda crap thrown at PBO. They don’t like him/his politics so they try to come up with a way to delegitimize him. I truly cannot stand Ted Cruz and the fact that he waited until he was about to run for President to give up his dual citizenship status might be legitimate reason enough for some to suggest he shouldn’t be President. I’d have no qualms about that. However, I actually think we are better served to focus on focus on his and his party’s horrible policies, rather than stooping to the same tactics they used to de-legitimize PBO. Ted Cruz is bad for America because of his politics, not because of where his American citizen Mom happened to be when she gave birth to him.

Here’s what the U.S. Citizenshp and Immigration Services says makes you a citizen at birth:

              January 8, 2016 at 6:38 pm

I should’ve said “… tactics they used to TRY to de-legitimized PBO…” Luckily, that mess was a squashed, even though there are haters who will still never accept him no matter what. Let’s not repeat that.

              January 8, 2016 at 7:30 pm

I think it is rather different – Much of what was thrown at PBO was that he was NOT born in Hawaii – that he was born in Kenya & smuggled back into the US. VERY different to Cruz who was born in Canada.

And it is mainly the GOP focusing on the Cruz birth – so I’d let them keep fighting each other – while the dems push their own strengths.

Cruz was one of the Obama conspiracy birther shouters all while he was actually born in another country himself. What goes around comes around.
Anyone know where I can go to get facts to counter my birther brother’s argument that Obama paid for his birth certificate to be forged? I remember hearing something about the Hawaiian hospital he was born in had a different kind of certificate so I figure if it was not an all out lie there could be some expense in having a different style issued, but do not really know. It depressed me so much to hear my brother is still believing that he was born in Kenya. I have told him about the birth announcements and about the exSenator that went to college with his Mother and Father etc. but nothing really works. He has voted for PBO both times, but falls back into listening to Drudge and Breitbart for his news.

When they believe the unbelievable, there is little you can do. Birth details are recorded/produced by the state, nothing to do with which hospital you are born in – highlights the stupid. Different times can have different formats. The original format of a 1960s certificate (before computers) would be different to the current day format – stored & produced by computer.

I can only speak for my own country/state but you can pay extra for different format certificates – they all contain the same information.

I do no think Ted Cruz is eligible to run for POTUS. Wasn’t a tweet posted here about one or two threads back about his mother’s Canadian citizenship and Canadian voter registration? Please correct me if I’m wrong.

        January 8, 2016 at 9:19 pm

Let me add this. Mexican mothers in Texas who have given birth to American citizens are being refused birth certificates for their citizen children by the Texas State Department of Health. So yes, I want Ted Cruz’ citizenship status to be explored until it is proven he is eligible to run for POTUS. He desrves the same scrutiny as his constituents in Texas.

Whatever you say about Jerry Reinsdorf his hire of Forman as GM was probably his best move since Jordan. Happy New Year lp!! You are so right – grudgingly Reinsdorf has made some brilliant decisions. Butler is so fun to watch especially when Rose’s career has been like walking on eggshells. My Vikings (I never adopted the Bears when I moved here) finished on top of the NFC North lol. Who are you looking to win it this year?

          • January 8, 2016 at 7:00 pm

As an Auburn grad and born in Charlotte I’m a Panthers fan with Cam Newton being my favorite player in all of sports 2nd to “Chef” Curry..I went to the Davidson B-ball camp as a youngin (Dell was my favorite Hornet along with Muggsy Bouges & Grandmama A.K.A Larry Johnson) before they moved to New Orleans…I’m pulling for the Vikings too. Just hope it is not the same result as their Dec. matchup. I don’t think anybody wants to see Seattle right now and that would be Carolina’s opponent since they are the 6 seed. I’m glad that the Vikings got rid of Ponder hope AP rushes for that 20 yards this time…I still haven’t figured out what is going with Corderelle Patterson, fortunately Diggs has turned out to be a gem of a rookie.

Apparently even the richest folk in America are now learning the truth that all New Yorkers who pay attention have known since Bill de Blasio trounced Chris Quinn.
The truth is that Money no longer Matters as much as it used to.

In 2013 Chris Quinn had all the money and media in the world backing her candidacy for Mayor. Most politicians and All the local newspapers endorsed Chris. TV covered her every move. “Quinn with her Dad in the Senior Center” ” Chris in her kitchen” And so on.

Bill de Blasio had the People and he won by huge margins. In the primary Chris managed only 15% of the vote. Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina and Jeff Greene in Florida learned the same lesson.

Now, I read that the Koch Brothers are acknowledging the very real limits of their dwindling power. Nothing they can do. The Koch’s first love was Scott Walker. Now they back Rubio. We will see how that goes.
Similarly, Jeb!s millions spent on TV ads has brought him very little.

The People will choose and I for one can hardly wait to see exactly who shows up in Iowa in a few weeks.

Many dual citizens in my country vote in US elections. They are also eligible to be PM of Australia – no “citizen by birth” which is rather a shame as we would never have got Tony Abbott under the US rules – born in England, as were his parents. No idea if he is even an Australian citizen. At the time he immigrated, British citizens were auto eligible to vote

I don’t even know what ‘am doing. I signed up for Twitter in 2015. I have never tweeted nor bothered to tweet until the lying Bishop tweeted a full bold lie. It sent me to Planet Kelob, somehow. The lying Bishop and his 2 sons engaged in Birtherism in 2011 & 2012. Then he flew to NV to accept Trump’s endorsement. That was what got me to send him my 1st tweet. I am still fuming.

So our press is talking about Pres Roosevelt’s response to tyranny today – 4 freedoms

The first is freedom of speech and expression – everywhere in the world.

The second is freedom of every person to worship God in his own way – everywhere in the world.

The third is freedom from want – which, translated into world terms, means economic understandings which will secure to every nation a healthy peacetime life for its inhabitants – everywhere in the world.

The fourth is freedom from fear – which, translated into world terms, means a worldwide reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough fashion that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbour – anywhere in the world.

The GOP has completely obliterated 2 and 4 – not doing so well on 1 and 3 either.

Oh hey, I need to post a picture of my new puppy nephew. His name is Jordan and he’s a gorgeous, playful and loving, 10-month old American Bulldog. Unfortunately not a rescue dog, My sister and brother are joint parents. I dunno how that’s gonna work, but that’s what they decided to do.

Jordan is driving his big brother Oliver (my sister’s 4 year old Maltie-Poo) crazy. Jordan want to play all the time and follow him Olver around everywhere. It was so funny watching Oliver try to get away from Jordan – resisting the urge to just turning around and bite him. You can just see the thought bubble over his head “Will you freaking leave me alone! Get out my face, boy!”. Jordan is way bigger in size than Ollie, but Mr. Ollie is definitely the alpha. They are so cute together. Sis says one time she went outside to finish taking down Christmas lights and when she came back in, Ollie was sitting in front of Jordan’s bed protecting him, like he was on guard duty. So adorable!
