Just when you thought things couldn’t get more ridiculous

The above is a real tweet by GOP frontrunner and favorite Donald J. Trump.

Il Douche seems to have a problem with geography. First, his first major campaign ad substituted Morocco for Mexico. And now he thinks that Germany’s occupation of France from World War II is still in effect.

On the one hand this is farcical. Il Douche is trying to prove the aphorism that eventually Americans will elect a President as stupid as they are. But, of course, in this case farce can easily transmute into tragedy.

Barack Obama has been the most significant president in American history. He has not only saved the economy, brought healthcare to millions, restored US prestige across the globe, and solved several intractable diplomatic issues, but, by the mere fact of being black, has undone the opposition party. Although the GOP hates the Clintons as well, I don’t think President Hillary Clinton elected and re-elected in 2008 and 2012 would have made the GOP go as apeshit as Barack Hussein Obama.

For example, this is what Speaker of the House Paul Ryan had to say in 2013 as a just-failed vice presidential candidate:

“I think we need to find out how to close these loopholes and do it in such a way that we don’t infringe upon people’s Second Amendment rights,” he said in an interview with the editorial board of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

“We had this issue, 2001, 1999 I think … when I first got into Congress,” Ryan continued. “At the time I remember thinking, ‘You know, there is a loophole here. We should address that.'”

This week saw President Obama unveil executive actions which would, in part, close those loopholes. What’s Mr. Ryan’s position now?

One must admire Pres. Obama’s Jedi Mind Meld skills. Obamacare is in large part based on Republican ideas. (Granted, made stronger by a Democratic president.) But have them be put forth by a black man who shouldn’t have won election, and it’s the UK’s National Health Service on steroids. Likewise, his executive orders on gun safety are merely enforcing existing law, which Mr. Ryan seemed to support before the man who waxed him in 2012 acted on them.

So it’s no surprise that a party and movement which have been habitually bested by Pres. Obama have gone so far over the edge that they’ve disappeared past the horizon. The place on the political map which Republicans now occupy should have the caption “Here be monsters.” It is, indeed, terra incognita, a country which no major US political party has ever visited, one where outright fascism might still be insufficiently radical.

Of course, Il Douche is merely making public that on which the GOP has run ever since 1968. There is something to be said for manners of using coded language, but it’s also bracing and instructive for a large segment of the American electorate to have those blinders removed. Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters can have no illusions in 2016 as to what a GOP victory, with Il Douche at the helm, would mean. No “compassionate conservatism” or “one thousand points of light” this time. These are the days of the straight arm salute.

So to those who still cling to “no difference” between Republicans and Democrats, I suggest that you use your $700 smart phone for something other than posting naked selfies and actually do some research. This isn’t even George W. Bush’s GOP, which was nigh on intolerable. If First Lady Melania Trump, and Il Douche slagging foreign leaders on Twitter while in the Oval Office aren’t sufficient to get you to care, well, the Republic was a nice idea while it lasted.

LL, your post highlights what we are in should any of the aspiring-leaders of the Right succeeds POTUS. Ignorance is bliss when it comes to T-baggers and their leaders.

I want to remain hopeful that Americans in the aggregate will pick the best person to lead this country comes November; however the fabric of each GOP candidate makes me lose sleep. I will not apologize for my bias: a Democrat must win. It’s imperative to save us all, on all fronts.

Pf, I HOPE that is so, but I still hear some Dems say that won’t vote for Hillary if she defeats Sanders in the primaries. Or, they won’t vote because she’s too close to Wall Street or whatever the complaint of the day. These people have to wake up and realize that the alternative to a Democratic president is DISASTER and this is NOT the year to act like petulant children.

Sometimes ‘poor little rich kids’ really are poor little rich kids
    Reuters – Tue, 5 Jan 2016 09:06

Jan 5 (Reuters) – The “affluenza” defense of Ethan Couch, a 16-year-old Texas boy who killed four pedestrians while driving drunk, has received a great deal of ridicule, much of it justified. That said, it would be foolish to allow an absurd effort to minimize one teenager’s responsibility for a horrific tragedy to obscure growing evidence that we have a significant and growing crisis on our hands. The children of the affluent are becoming increasingly troubled, reckless, and self-destructive. Perhaps we needn’t feel sorry for these “poor little rich kids.” But if we don’t do something about their problems, they will become everyone’s problems.

One of us has spent about 20 years studying and documenting the growth of dysfunction among affluent youth, and the other has written about one large source of the problem. High-risk behavior, including extreme substance abuse and promiscuous sex, is growing fast among young people from communities dominated by white-collar, well-educated parents. These kids attend schools distinguished by rich academic curricula, high standardized test scores, and diverse extracurricular opportunities. Their parents’ annual income, at $150,000 and more, is well over twice the national average. And yet they show serious levels of maladjustment as teens, displaying problems that tend to begin as they enter adolescence and get worse as they approach college.

Here’s a thought..treat them the same as poor & minority kids. When they get caught with drugs, damaging property, killing people give them jail time. Don’t let mommy and daddy high price attorneys use bullshit defenses like affluenza if poor kids can’t use poverty.

That they aren’t shedding *ANY* tears, along with the fact that they are showing no desire to do anything about the gun problem — not even offering the most basic solution(s) — tells a lot about their character. With all the hate-filled, racists commentary, the GOP establishment seems more interested in keeping Trump from getting the nomination rather than disavowing his rhetoric and denouncing him for saying it.

The Big Lie in the War Against Drugs
    Tuesday, 29 December 2015

    ………………………………………….

No, the war on drugs, since its very beginning, has been about
controlling political power – by breaking up Black communities and the dissident left.

And we know that because the people who have been involved, the
architects and the leaders in the war on drugs, have admitted it – even bragged about it!

Before he died, Nixon counsel and former assistant to the president, John Ehrlichman, told author Dan Baum that:

“The Nixon Campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar Left, and Black people. You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or Black. But by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and Blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

Folks the GOP-style hysteria that has engulfed Ghana now because of its decision to take in two Guantanamo prisoners is frightening. This is election year and the NDC government, equivalent of our Democratic Party, is being pushed back hard on a defensive heel. The news comes in the midst of another decision to take in Syrian refugees that already have relatives in Ghana. The opposition is whipping up so much fear, I’m scared.

The same thing happened in 2014 when Ghana promptly agreed to host the UN Ebola Monitoring headquarters. The opposition went deacon that the govt was going to bring the disease into the country. But the opposite happened. Ghana never had a single case of the disease because it seriously prepared itself with detection protocols and massive public education. Samantha Powers and Ban kid Moon both came to personally thank the country for its leadership in the West African region.

Now here we are again! Ugh!

How do we hold back the tears for Trayvon, Tamir, the children killed by stray bullets, by brothers, mothers, fathers, ‘accidentally’? We hold it back because if we allowed ourselves to experience the full horror we would never stop crying.
