The strong Paris agreement on climate means a safer, more secure world for our kids. A perfect example of what American leadership can do.

GE, TOD!
wto on first
Thanks!
Alycee in first! How are you feeling today? What a wonderful day for the world!
Still doing the “life 101” thing… Trying to get organized as tomorrow morning my electrician and his boys are going to show up to do several odd jobs and paint. I’m nowhere near ready for them. Will be burning the midnight oil…
Been there! If you are asleep they will arrive at 7am without calling first – If you wake early they will turn up at 10am – probably ring about 9am.
Congrats on 1st, Alycee!
Thanks! How’s your son doing?
Hi – Doing well – next surgery’s after Christmas, so he’s putting that totally out of his mind between now and then. We’re having fun picking out gifts for his grandkids, etc. Thanks for asking! Hope you’re doing better, too.
SUCH A BEAUTFUL DAY HERE…TOYS DELIVERED TO THE STUDIO…SOME GREAT DINING OUT…62 DEGREES TODAY AND NEARLY 70 SUNDAY…WILL BE MOWING THE LAWN TOMORROW…IN DECEMBER!…LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
I THINK ALL WEATHER FORECASTERS NEED TO WEAR A SUIT OF ARMOR IN THESE GLOBAL WARMING TIMES…MY COUSIN WAS A TELEVISION WEATHER CASTER…HE USED TO GET HATE LETTERS WHEN THINGS DIDN’T WORK OUT SO WELL.
Thank yooooooooooooooooooou Nerdy!!!!!
🙂
Question from down under – Does congress have to affirm the climate change agreement for the US to be a signatory of same?
Think I found the answer at LGF – Should have realised PBO would sort it 🙂
” Some elements of the accord are voluntary, while others are legally binding. That hybrid structure was specifically intended to ensure the support of the United States: An accord with binding targets would be legally interpreted as a new treaty and would have to go before the Senate for ratification. Such a plan would be dead on arrival in the Republican-controlled Senate, where many question the established science of climate change and hope to thwart Mr. Obama’s climate change agenda.
As a result, all language on the reduction of carbon emissions is essentially voluntary. The deal assigns no concrete reduction targets to any country. Instead, each government has crafted a plan to lower emissions at home based on the country’s domestic politics and economy.” from NYT via this comment

Interesting and clever….. the Rs can go screw themselves. They’re not needed.
And that, in a nutshell, AMK, is why the US media is a joke. They are propagandists, not news providers.
I LOVE my President!
^1000 times
Amen!
Thank you for these glorious tweets and video! Congratulations to the President, Secretary Kerry, and to the country and world!
🙂
And I was very glad to see Al Gore there, celebratin’!
Bernie Sanders simply doesn’t know when to be gracious or how to be respectful of others, which in and of itself disqualifies him for the presidency. He could not accomplish one millionth of what President Obama has done and only knows how to carp and minimize the work of others. He’s an irritating, petulant curmudgeon.
Congrats jazz!!!
Thank you, NW, for a special post on what is without question an unprecedented day in the history of humanity.
Never before have humans been participants and witness to the scale of awareness and cooperation evidenced in the adoption of the Paris Agreement.
Oh, and then there’s this ….
#Hope4ALL
good night TOD …………
Bernie Sanders needs to zip it!
Indeed, Jacqueline!
Good morning 🙂
Good morning, Bob!
Thanks, Bob.
Thanks Nerdy for this great post! Bravo to PBO and SOS Kerry, who has been a tireless and humble public servant on issues that MATTER. Congrats to all the countries, the leaders of which came together to pursue this common goal for the good of the planet.
At 74 years old, Bernie Sanders is still stuck in his twenties, emotionally and politically. Not at all presidential. Not ready to be President now, or ever.
Good description, a very immature man who is now 74 years old. He hasn’t accomplished anything, and gets all his political attention from throwing stones at other people who do.
Yup.
WoW
poignant!
That’s one talented young artist, too. Bittersweet, but hopefully healing for her.
heard on NPR this evening that there is a meeting in progress whose goal is to bring Libya’s warring factions together and help them push out ISIL;
I think (could be wrong) that it is happening in Rome;
since the US is in leadership of this, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if after the exceptionally heavy duties in Paris, SoS is heading straight to Rome to participate in that too, before coming home for the holiday;
as I said earlier, he would be quietly moving on to the next crisis without too much fanfare;
yes, I do love and admire SoS Kerry. I also was lucky to campaign for him as Dem candidate in our ultimate swing state and meet him on number of rallies
Thanks for this, global. There is no end to the accomplishments of this administration. SOS Kerry is tireless.
Good news! John Kerry is doing so much good. I hope he gets a Nobel one of these days.
Thank you, Nerdy, for providing this incredible response to this historic day. It’s overwhelming to recognize all the work that goes into each of these achievements and how hard PBO works to achieve our dreams. Thank you.
🙂
Thank you, Nerdy for this celebratory collection.
President Obama is a great World Leader. PBO and SOS Kerry along with their teams did what up to now has seemed impossible. This is what a Strong leader looks like and what such a President can achieve.
Of course, word of this will not penetrate the thick skulls of the brainwashed sad sacks who cheer on Trump, or Cruz or Sanders.
We can’t rely on the media, Vicki. These accomplishments will be part of the President’s final State of the Union address, which will be heart by millions. And then it’s up to us to spread the word, house by house, person to person.
🙂
I have to say that I chocked up when PBO talked about holding the hands of his grandchildren (if he was lucky enough to have them) in the park. How I wish this joy to happen for him.
Expert opinion?
This from a guy who picked up a snowball and said “See we still have snowballs” or something idiotic like that, to prove there was no climate change. Ugh.
Stupid right wing idiots. Today here in N.C. it was 75 degrees and tomorrow it suppose to be 79. December 12., this is crazy weather. But these idiots Republicans don’t believe in climate change. I do.
Me too.
If PBO was against it – they would be for it – the world understands
More stupid right wing idiots, ” Fox Nation says Media Gushes over First Lady Rapping, and Ignores Obama ISIS Strategy.
Some good news, FLOTUS will invite military kids to the White House to watch the new Star Wars movie Friday Dec. 18.
They never miss an opportunity to share something wonderful with others!
What a role model – for all of us!
For the record, if George W. Bush were still in the White House and I were a big HRC fan, this would be a good campaign ad.
Girl, please…….Bye!
You better hope Joe Biden does not have a change of heart.
And damn glad FLOTUS is not interested.
Just…..Bye!
I think it was a Hillarybot – not HRC – who put that out there, but I laughed at your comment, anyway!
Hey Jackie!
I figured as much that was the case. But I am not going to give them the pleasure of thinking that I am all in with her or them.
I am anticipating Billary to fuck it up real soon.
I am uncomfortable even seeing him standing the door of the WH never mind the Oval Office.
Why would he even want to come back? Why? What are his motives?
Can you even imagine if the same scenario with POB?
I gotcha. There’s no comparison between the two couples AT ALL, in my mind, much less the former and current President. We shall just wait and see what happens. Seems a bit surreal to me, so I’m going back to really appreciating this next year.
I won’t panic, President Obama is still in the White House.
For another year and a month! Yay!
They’ll play the White House next!
On her way to pick up the check from Wall Street…….
I just cannot bring myself to trust her.
We may have no choice.
there is no comparison at all between what the rethugs offer and what billary, however horrible they are imagined to be, bring to the table.
You are dead right.
This is totally the case.
For the “Good News” file…
You are finding the best good news. Keep them coming.
OMFG!!!!! Conner McGregor ladies and gents….The Irishman just shocked the world and knocked out Aldo(hasn’t lost in 10 years) with his 1rst punch….fastest title fight stoppage in UFC history. 11 SECONDS!!!!!!
We will see how long this stays up 😕
Conner said before the fight anybody who bet on him to win in the 1rst round would get into his after party for free (he was an underdog -130) 😀
Thanks for posting this. I had forgotten how beautiful Luther’s voice is. Used to play Dance with My Father every day for years.
yes
Thanks, Nerdy, for the great collection of tweets and video from today’s highlights of the Paris Climate Agreement. There’s no where else where we get such complete coverage of President Obama, his family and his administration. I’m so grateful for all of you here at The Obama Diary.
Good Night!
🙂
Good Morning TOD. Where is everyone? Sleeping so late? 🙂
